    I’m currently using a bottle of nailtiques to strengthen my nails and it’s working wonders. After I finish this bottle, I plan to do a painted manicure w many layers of topcoat ( to build up the protection similar to gel ). Mine are doing so much better w the nailtiques. And of course using plenty of oils , balms, creams etc. also I learned to properly repair a broken nail/nail split etc and this is really important.

    keeping them painted with gel really helps! I used to file the surface of my nails very rough before putting the gel (thinking it will last longer) and they were very WEAK, now I file just very little (almost nothing) before gel and omg they last and they feel stronger, I also don't peel the gel off like I used to do lol just take the time to soak them in acetone and take them off lol

      Yes yes yes to all of this! Minimal prep is all you need and proper removal is key! It's worth taking the time. I'm with you - one of the best ways to keep nails from breaking :)

    Great tips! My nails are growing super fast from rubbing them with lemon, olive oil and tea tree several days a week and applying a keratin fast nail growing polish. I also regularly clean them. I do nail maintenance every other day. I also take vitamins b and d and niacin. I also take prenatal vitamines several days a week and collegan.

    I have kept my nails short since I was 15. This halloween I decided to give it a shot at letting them grow because I wanted to paint them black. I have not gotten back to short nails. Now I’m obsessed with almond shaped nails 💅🏻 and yes, nail aid works wonders (all of them not just the biotin one). I can’t believe how long my nails are rn.

      Woohoo!! THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY!!! :):) Once you're able to grow long nails on your own, you never want to go back -- and the thought of tips/press ons really isn't the same. What other Nail Aid products do you love? I've tried a few, but the Biotin is still my fave :)

    I'm going through thin nails now after gel, and am super bummed, although I did a gel overlay and will just change nail polish here and there while they grow out. The worst feeling is pressure on thin nails, ugh! Shivers. I can't wait for them to grow out again. I'm new to gel, so definitely learning as I go. :) Do you ever watch the Nail Hub on yt?? Excellent videos about gel!

    I agree that a gel manicure makes my nails grow like crazy!! I love and hate it at the same time. They almost get too long for me to manage and I have accidentally scratched myself. I just removed my gel nails at home and make sure that they are well moisturized. I always file them round as it makes them appear longer and elegant. Collagen powder also made my nails grow very quickly.

    Great tips, thank you! I follow everything you talked about except for using gel. I find the removal process too harsh for my thin peeling nails and greatly weakens them. Cuticle oil, round shape, glass file, my job becoming much less manual, not using them as tools finally helped me achieve long nails. Never thought I could have them. Used to keep them in soft square and they would break frequently. Biggest change for me personally was to constantly keeping them painted. The extra layers of polish, base and top coats add strength. Whenever I had them naked they would break easily from me hitting everyday objects. How many times I broke a nail opening my car door and my hand slipping! One thing that hasn’t changed is they break every August, don’t know what that’s all about but it’s consistent year to year.

    • @AmandaBellaa
      @AmandaBellaa  2 роки тому +1

      I'm so happy you've figured out a routine that works for you! If you can manage without gel, more power to you - I wish I could! Keeping them painted is key, the added protection makes all the difference! So interesting about the annual August mishaps LOL. I totally understand though, I usually have very short nails for Christmas, but this year I was adamant about keeping them long & strong thru December. Of course this past week I broke two. The winter does me zero favors haha. Can't win em all!

      They make some really affordable options now! Even if you just grab a base coat & small/portable LED lamp - you can paint your regular polish on top! That one gel layer is all you need for some added protection.

    I would just like to say I use the Nail Aid biotin strengthener that you have recommended & I think it does help strengthen my nails. I also use Burt’s Bees cuticle balm & try & put hand lotion on my nails to keep them moisturized & sometimes I use castor oil on my toenails & I know that works wonders on them. I am writing this comment as my own because I replied to a user named Emer on this video sharing my tips with them but they deleted the comment. I think you should know it might be a spam account.

    I have this bad habit of when I’m cleaning or doing dishes I almost get tunnel vision or something and all caution goes out the window with my nails. I get so mad at myself after when I see the damage and I recognize what I’m doing when it’s happening but I can’t pause long enough to be careful. ADHD maybe. II just need to slow down and practice being in the moment.

    These are great tips but I’ve developed an allergy to any gel nail product. I gave gel nail polish a 4 year break then tried again and had another terrible reaction. Do you have any suggestions to help rehab nails without using gel? My main issue is peeling. Thank you!!

    • @AmandaBellaa
      @AmandaBellaa  2 роки тому

      Oh no! That really stinks, I'm sorry to hear that! The Biotin Ultimate Strength base coat is a great treatment for rehabbing nails - a good top coat also helps with peeling/chipping. The Olive & June super glossy top coat, INM Out The Door, and Essie Gel Setter are three of my current favorites!

    While these are great tips a key factor in growing long nails is having strong nails. It seems like no matter what I do my nails are weak and as soon as I start to get some length they break/rip/snag/peel and that is even with gel polish on.
