Just did mine, super easy installation. I'd advise everyone to refer to the dimensions in the included instructions, just in case anything changes over time. Also, when you measure from the edge of the hood, put the metal at the end of the measuring tape against the hood, and bend it over the bulge to get it at the right spot.
Nice install. I did this a while back and they are awesome!! I will say the rivets were the hardest part for me! They would not break with my gun and I ended up snipping them off!
I just installed mine. It's -4°F in my garage, 22 below out in the open. The struts work just fine. My fingers, however, are frozen stiff. @@realitynow4342
Hey man, I don’t know if Redline has changed installation instructions but your measurements for the brackets on the hood conflict with Redline’s. They say 2 3/8” from the edge of the hood. I just did the install and can confirm that 2 3/8” is the correct measurement.
Thanks, I'll use the aluminum rivets that came with the struts. The hood measurements in the installation instructions were a little different than yours but either should work. it's for a 2015 Tacoma. Thanks for the video.
I like the idea of using existing bolt holes and fasteners for hood shock mounts instead of drilling holes and causing a concern for rust in the future. Do these hood shocks pop the hood enough so I can fit my fingers in to undo the safety latch ? That's a problem im running into with the stock setup on my truck now.. when I pull the hood release , I have to wedge my fat fingertips under the hood enough to lift it up to undo the safety latch.
@@timjensen1826 The gap that the hood pops at has nothing to do with the stock latches or the hood struts, but instead the two round rubbers that you see on left and right side of the front of the top bar, you can rotate these higher to pop the hood higher

Thanks I will do it to my Tocoma... that’s a great idea....
you are going to love it!
Nice video. Made it simple and quick. 👍 gonna get some for my 2nd gen Tacoma soon
You're going to love it!
Great vid. Best mod I've done to my taco. I shouldn't have waited! Next the jetta!
Massive change! Love it
@@SnailTrail4x4 I rushed out to show my wife. Lol.
I'm in recovery from a stroke (only 57) so this is significant.
Excellent vid
Thanks

Totally, that was a forearm killer. I did it on my third gen as well and you have to do the pop rivets on the top and bottom brackets ( as you know)
Does it work in freezing temps
@@realitynow4342 -- I haven't tried. I don't live where it freezes all that often. Might want to contact the company, Redline

Yeah I am not sure why there is a difference in measurements. Glad it work out
how do you one like them 4 years later?
Redline video instructions says 2 3/8" from hood edge as you say 1 3/4". Anybody know which is correct or if it matters?
What's that speaker in the engine bay for?
Excellent product ,my FJ came with them , do they make a kit for a 60 series Cruiser ?
Think I could use screws in lieu of rivets?
Yeah, probably
2013 toyota tacoma and up is 6-1/4" on the hood.
16 1/4
I don’t know why but your instructions are way different than redlines. They come out the same but why confuse the issue?
What did I do different?
I have a tocoma and I was wondering. At 1:20. What is the megaphone thing next to the fuse box?
I'm not sure... You will have to ask @trd_buildup on IG. It's not my truck
Alarm
Are the rivets aluminum or steel? Wish it was all bolts!
I used Aluminum ones, you probably could do Rivnuts

Autobahn88 Hood Struts for the Tacoma require zero drilling and are far cheaper. Works perfect for my 2013 Tacoma XSP-X
Really, how do they attach. I haven't heard or seen these.
SnailTrail4x4 literally uses the stock bolt hole on the fender and the stock upper latch holes
