For someone like me it wasn't a culture or art I was born into, it's one that I found that shaped and defined me.
I'm an Irish boy, but the arts, culture, everything about the Philippines has always been a culture and connection ive had since i was a kid.

It's interesting you mentioned this. For some reason there's a connection between Irish and Filipino descendants in the States. We've seen many Filipino and Irish couples. We share similar histories in which we are both island nations, Roman Catholic, were oppressed (lol) and we like to drink, eat and have a good time. We need to visit Ireland.

@FMA Pulse hahaha I feel ya there. I'm down whenever. Just let me know :p
Ireland has its own stick fighting art as well. The shillelagh is a traditional walking cane and fighting stick. An there's some clans/schools trying to keep the art alive.
Been wanting to go learn some myself.

@@DT61636 Most definitely. We've seen and heard of Shillelagh, and was wondering if it has similar histories as well. Contact Jessie on Facebook (J.S. Santiago) or Instagram.(just_j_Santiago).

That was dope, never heard of any Filipinos moving to Samoa (American and/or Western) I mean, I shouldn't be surprised and I don't mean that in a weird way. I'm Afakasi (1/2 Samoan) my wife is Filipino. I like to tell my son he is SolePino. ;)

It's interesting to hear everyone's stories and background. We can see and hear each instructor's journey and history. We've always heard Filipinos moving to wherever there's work. We also heard a lot of Filipinos coming from military families being born in Samoa as well.
