So so happy to see that San Miguel-like system are being studied and explained. We do have the same cross-step concept which literally result in the same outcome as shown. Awesome awesome.

There's going to be over parallels between certain systems. As we continue this journey of meeting and cross training in different systems, we notice theres's more similarities than differences. It's like spaghetti, everyone cooks it differently, but it's all spaghetti in the end.

Imo this is the best for a short bladed weapon. Really love the smooth unexeggerated motion. But i think it is not the best when the weapon ist really a stick and not an imagined blade.

It's primarily a sword art not a baton art. Though many like to train as if there aren't differences between the two weapons.

This topic came up when we spoke with Mang Romy. When we mentioned why they didn't use trainer blades instead of sticks back then. He said compared to Europe and the United States, Philippines is a poor country. Resources are limited and costly. If they're going to use the resources to use metal, they would rather make a real blade rather than a blunted trainer. Rattan is a vine and grows everywhere, therefore you have unlimited resources for training.
The stick is a just a blue print used as a teaching tool. You just need the imagination and creativity. Everyone does not have unlimited resources for training gear. You make do with what you have. Within the Western context, everything has to be literal.

Since teaching isn't Guro Viko's full time career, not sure if he has anything planned seminar wise. Feel free to message him on Instagram (located in the description box below) for classes or privates. Since he's in the North Carolina area, you might have to venture there.
