I love the way you are able to articulate these basics. I wish there was Balintawak here in my area of Germany! Keep up the good work! I will find a way to practice this MA style.
Awesome video and teaching. I've not found a video of how balintawak can be applied in real life situation with or without a stick/knife. All videos have both people knowing balintawak and doing balintawak drills. I hope someone starts posting
Tyler_ Lalonde- the trick is to draw power from the back of your body. If you look closely, the stick was drawn from the back of the body over the shoulder towards the target. It is effective. It has killed many people during the heydays of the street gang wars in the old days.
Aside from the previous explicative comment, one should add that balintawak is meant to be used as training to fight with machete-like weapons, not sticks... But it can and has been adapted for sticks and barefist fighting... I understand Kali is made specifically for stick fighting? Correct me
@@davidrosales2081 Greetings Sir! Your analysis for the most part is pretty much correct with the one exception and that is, Kali is really an art that is more known for blades and other edged weapons. Kali does teach the stick of course but a large part of Kali focuses on edged weapons.
Have you been hit by a stick close range? Well i have, me and my cousin are sparring were in corto range and she was able to get a hold of my arm when i strike and she followed up with a strike to the abdomen. It can be applied with bladed weapons no problem like knives or whatever.
Dont worry, it works and hurts well. Ask a good teacher, via YT comment is this not explainable. Balintawak works well in all 3 ranges, Largo, medio and corto.
You are seeing literally applications in front of you, Fma aint like japanese or chinese systems, you dont need to dischipher the info, Fma are boxing based
Well just like any other fma styles, though it's practitioners are more accustomed to fastpace corto range strikes. You can counter it by string at largo range though.
@@Arcana437 balintawak focuses on single stick fighting and corto , so once sparred with medio and largo it will push it's way to close the distance and have full control in every situation.

👍👍👍👍👍
What state is you're school located?
If your range is so close how do you hit them with the stick or power. As with your full power strike. It doesn't seem usable.

I'm here because of Dune
Its that funny...the FMA/Stickfighting Guys are the only martial artists who cant talk for 10 minutes about one single strike...
HEMA/swordfighters too.
