Great video on an iconic brand and well deserved of the title “the watch maker of watch makers”. My favorites are the Reverso and the one I am luck to have, the limited edition Polaris date with the blue dial 👌
I LOVE my Geophysic 1958 limited edition. Probably my favorite watch in the collection....which includes pieces from Patek, Rolex, ALS, Cartier, and AP.
Nice video ! I think you could have mentioned the master compressor line including also the first automatic chronograph movement of JLC (751) in 2005 (if not mistaken). Thanks for the video !
That 'Jaeger' pronunciation is disputable. You can say it like you suggested (German-influenced) but saying it with a French Swiss accent is also common.
Well... I dunno if it's disputable, because JLC themselves call it Jaeger (Je-jer) - the boutique staff and the JLC commercials. Edmond Jaeger was a Parisian so it should be pronounced the French way.
@@A.T.148-Scot-HK Hence my comment ;) If I remember correctly the German pronunciation came about due to the location of JLC's HQ which I think is location in one of the german-speaking cantons
@@aromaticsnail Le Sentier speaks French as far as I know but I suppose it depends where the speaker is from, but officially it is "Je-jer". I just find Crown and Calibur's response as going with a more "Western pronunciation" kinda ridiculous. As if Switzerland, France and Germany isn't in the West.🤔 Or is only North America the West these days.
Question from a newbie. Looking to buy a nice business watch. I saw the jaeger master control with blue numbers. And a different dial called maybe a “sector dial”. Is this a limited edition? How many made? Could you review it. Not much out there but I love how this watch looks.
Whats with all this pronunciation problem? Not everyone is born French/Swiss. Just trying to be normal, at least he's not pretentious. Chill and relax.
@@andy_yeeqi966 You don't have to know a language to pronounce something properly, and it's far from pretentious to ask someone to pronounce a name in the way it's meant to be pronounced. It's not a problem if someone new to watches, or new to this brand, pronounces it incorrectly. A gentle reminder that it's pronounced differently, and hope people don't make that mistake in the future. The problem here, is Crown and Caliber are long-time watch dealers in the luxury watch space. It's like someone who deals in designer clothing/accessories, pronouncing Louis Vuitton as "Lewis Vitton", it's just not acceptable for people who work in the industry. A common distinction, at least here in the States, is the Houston, the Texas city, and Houston, the street in New York. One is pronounced Hueston, the other is pronounced Howston, due to the the person it's named after. It's not pretentious to ask people to pronounce them differently or to make that distinction to people who are not in the know.
U just need to relax and take a chill pill, why u don't u try to pronounce something in Chinese and other language with perfection? Try not to bother with such petty little things. 😃
@@andy_yeeqi966 I'm actually Chinese, Chinese-American lmfao, so bring it on. Nobody is asking for perfection. Just an effort. ESPECIALLY from an industry professional like Crown & Caliber. "Yayger LooCulltray" is unacceptable and disrespectful to the brand coming from someone who works so often in the industry.
When we study horology, there is no way to set JLC out of the the top 3 dogs in the industry. JLC is either the #1 watch brand in the world or #2. Audemars Piguet might be top 10 but never top 3.
It's amazing how many people pronounces this so wrong. It's French founders will turn in their graves hearing people pronouncing their names all wrong.
Ok, for starters you completely mispronounced the brand’s name….not the best start….🙄….if you’re going to talk about Swiss watch brands that have French names, it might be helpful to seek a little advice on how to pronounce them correctly…it’s basic research mate!
I like to say...real men don't each quiche...or buy Rolex. Love JLC and just came back from their factory ...have a couple simple Clubs and an Atmos clock...which is truly a marvel

Very informative video .l bought my JLC Master Calenar Moonphase from C&C. Great watch!
Would love to see a new video on the new Master Control watch lineup.

Brilliant job thank you love to see more from Jay I’ll see

Thanks Nualdifa for the feedback, and you're right. We just decided to go with a more Western pronunciation.

I have a soft spot for the Reverso, it has the perfect look and proportions regardless of the size.
I enjoyed this one, quite informative and interesting.

Don't ever believe what you watch in UA-cam. You just killed the pronunciation of the brand name. Good thing you kept on saying JLC.
一瞬違う動画開いたと思ってびっくりしちゃった!
I love Reverso :)
No love for the Master Compressor Memovox? It's IMO the best sports watch out there.
