Finally, someone else notices this watch. This watch has been on my bucket list for about 3 years and apart from Theo and Harris no one has given it any love or noticed its pure elegance and level of craftsmanship....
I think I like it even more because of this! I think this is an amazing watch. This with the black dial is amazing, and for me the gold version with the creamy dial is my grail.
I actually really like that it's more under the radar. I see Rolexes on people's wrists more often than one would expect and Rolexes are good watches but they are overhyped. If you ask the average person what a Rolex is most likely they could tell you. If you ask them what Patek Philippe makes then probably not. I would rather have a much classier design that falls into the category of if you know you know...A. Lange und Sohne, Patek Philippe, JLC. FP Journe makes some fantastic looking moon phase watches too but they're very proud of their watches $$$
The more I see the brand, the more I love it. The understated elegance. Completely. It doesn’t scream “look at me”. But when you look, you get drawn in. And to me, that’s the ultimate of elegance.
This is a great watch--for the money or on its own merit. I've never understood why UA-cam reviewers are so focused on the Reverso and neglect the the Ultra Thin Moon Phase. I wear mine whenever I want to look elegant or just don't want the flash of a Rolex. On the plus side, people ignoring it helps keep the price down (in relative terms).
Absolutely gorgeous watch! I think this is such an important piece for JLC because it fills the role of a traditional dress watch in their catalog. The Reverso is incredible but the design style, with its rectangular case, is a bit more niche on who it will appeal to. The Master collection is going to fill that appetite for a more traditional looking watch. My personal pick from that line would be the Master Control Calendar.
Bought this watch in 2013. Love it so much. I wear it to work instead of my rolex datejust which I often wear during other times. And my Submariner for outdoor activities.
Happy New Year!! There is a Chinese proverb say "沉鱼落雁,闭月羞花". It is to describe the Chinese Four Beauties. One of them is said to be so beautiful that even Moon is shy and hide its face because of her. Because of this proverb, I'm quite obsessed with Moonphase watches. If my future wedding is to exchange watches instead of rings, I will definitely choose one with Moonphase. And most likely will exchange this.
I’ve had my eyes on the jlc master series for quite a while, and I think I prefer this to the more complicated dials like calendar. It looks more elegant and clean while being more sophisticated than just a plain white dial.
I bought this watch--pretty much because of this video. (My AD should share her commission with Teddy!) It does not disappoint. The camera work in this video is great, but somehow the watch is even more impressive in real life. My only observation is that the black strap is great, but I decided to try out the JLC blue crocodile strap as a replacement for a few days, and I think it works even better. It is definitely as impressive, and somewhat more flexible. I'll probably switch it black to the black strap for a truly formal event, but day-to-day in a business casual office the blue strap works somewhat better. Either way, it is an amazing watch. This was my first JLC; it won't be my last.
Terrific, comprehensive review on a delightfully exquisite timepiece. I have a new appreciation for just how handsome this blue dial Ultra Thin Moon is. Beautiful!
My first watch was this one in silver and it's still my favourite. Funny enough I never considered the Reverso, I am starting to consider it only recently for its more sporty design.
I’m turning to this channel more and more lately. The content seems to be tailored to my interests. I have always considered this piece alongside the ultra thin reserve de march 39mm as two of the more compelling options from jlc besides the reverso. This video does a great job at presenting it as such.
Had no idea this came in a 36 as well. Big fan of the the Master line. Picked up my grail, a Master Geographic in 38mm. A 2001 model that looked unworn. Not too fond of the 39mm and 40mm. Wish JLC would have more in the 38mm range. I do have tiny wrists so a little biased in that area. In either case, great review. Wish TB and his channel viewers a great 2022.
I have the Ultra Thin in 18k w/ small sub seconds...and it is right at the edge of being to large for my wrists...but I can live with it. And that's why I couldn't resist picking up a steel preowned moon phase with the 40 hour power reserve. (if I'm wearing the watch and it is automatic, the elongated reserve doesn't really mean that much to me). I am new to JLC and I must say that I find the Ultra Thin to be the most stunningly beautiful watch I've ever seen. And the feeling of quality is so...alive. This journey started with a Reverso Grande Taille...again preowned because I wanted specifically wanted the gold/steel combination. Then I came across two 1957 gold watches with the bumper movements. They are equally as elegant as the new watches and they did it then with just 35mm. Anyway, just a recent convert to the brand.
Those Longines Master Collection watches that you had shown in the beginning are by far my favorites out of every watch you've shown. Tudor 1926 comes in very close second
Amazing piece by JLC and thanks for another great review! There’s hardly a JLC watch that isn’t an engineering piece of art. But I think nothing beats a Reverso Duoface - the most elegant and magical gmt feature in a watch out there
God I love the Master Series, especially the Ultra Thins. Although personally I wouldn't get the Moonphase but rather keep it even simpler. Absolutely gorgeous!
Your stylish intro footage with the great music are inspiring. They always get me hyped for the video and to just better my style in general. Keep up the great work!
Bought the white dial version earlier this year, the design and finish are just pure elegance. My only problem with the watch is that the movement makes some light noise whilst self-winding.
Glad you gave a nod to Longines Teddy. I purchased a Longines Master Collection Moonphase two years ago, and it's a great value for money watch. The dial has a beautiful guilloche finish with Brequet style numerals and blued hands. A sapphire case back and an alligator strap with deployment buckle. All for £1,800 British Pounds.
Absolutely love JLC, the holy trinity of watch making in my book (move aside Patek, AP and VC!). Watch making at its finest, the watch maker's watch. An iconic watch that's value for money.
I have owned a reverso and it is a lovely watch. It’s absolutely wonderful and surprisingly adaptable/dress up/down etc. this is most definitely a dress watch and I don’t think it’s an everyday piece. But my goodness it’s stunning. I really can’t think of a nicer dress watch in this price range. Looks, movement, finishing, provenance, I guess the only thing missing is value retention. Which is criminal in my opinion but a great opportunity to own one of these ncredible watches second hand. Which is what I intend to do!
JLC is such an awesome brand, whichever model you buy, you will want another. There is just an integrity and refinement (not to mention history) to the brand that is hard to see in many others. I chose the Reverso first, but an ultra thin will inevitably be added to the collection.
I had this same dilemma, JLC Reverso or master thin moon. In the end went with Reverso for the pure iconic and originality of the piece, but I LOVE the moon phase too. White and blue dial are both nice.
I don’t sell my watches, but it is nice to know the watch maintains its’ value. The Reverso will probably be worth more than what you paid for it. I would probably go with the Reverso.
I ended up buying both at the same time, the gold master thin moon and a reverso. The reverso is a must have , but guess which one gets more wrist time? Suprisingly , the master moon gets alot of compliments, people usually catch it and said, hey, that's a new watch?
I’ve bought my Ultra Thin Moon in April after my baby was born. I researched about moonphases and this one is one (if not the one) of the most iconic moonphase watch available. Also not a lot of demand so just walk in and buy. Just amazing. I’m covering the movement glass with a dedication plate, just like Dr. Strange did on his JLC annual calendar. Thanks for creating this video!
Long ago (20yrs?), JLC had a beautiful grey dial model with two chronographs left and right. I have never seen it since then even as a second hand. I hope that JLC will make it again.
@@kmunster04 Nice! Ya, I would have trouble picking what dial color I want for each. I like blue for both but that would probably be silly to have both in blue.
Nice piece but beyond my budget. Interesting that most comments also mention the Reverso, even though not the focus of this video. I think that speaks volumes. I will go for a Reverso every time.
2 years ago, I walked in to buy a omega moon watch. The salesman took his time and helped me out. I ended up walking out with a JLC Master ultra thin. It was close to double of the cost of the moon watch. Not a lot of people know about it unless I walk into a watch store. It doesn’t get the love and attention it deserves. Especially when people only knows Tudor Rolex omegas. Two years later, I’m married, have a baby at home. I think it’s the first and last luxury watch I can ever buy. My next watch is probably going to be a Hamilton khaki field as I always wanted one as a daily beater and they’re relatively cheap. I still daily an Apple Watch for work. Seiko Tuna on the weekend, and pulls out the ultra thin moon on special events and date nights.
Absolutely about time someone took a good look at an "entry level" JLC. very clean, very simple of both dial and case, case back and mvmt finish, I'd love to see these on more wrists. Anyone can wear it, for almost any situation, and I think if they can find a way to get this watch to come in under 5 or 6 grand, they would own that market no question and it would show off the beauty and elegance of a "real", i.e. mechanical watch and maybe more new people coming into the Watch World.
That Master Thin Moon really suits you, Teddy. Like it was made for you. I know you like the Reverso but this is the dress watch for you in my opinion.
Teddy thanks you for this video. It help me to choose JLC. After watching your this video I made my mind to buy JLC ultra thin moon and date same watch with blue dial and ten days ago JLC in Delhi India arranged and I bought this watch. This is my first JLC. Thanks once again Teddy.
If you want something that's similar to this in terms of aesthetic but for the fraction of the price you can get a seiko blue moon ssa405j (although it does have some drawbacks)
Quite impressive specs in a 9mm thin automatic watch ! 🤩 Classic, clean and beautiful. Looks like the perfect dress watch to me... Except the price is way out of my budget. 😞
Happy New Year Teddy! Thanks for introducing us to this watch. I love the dial and the thinness. Reminds me of the Bvlgari Octo Finnissimo and the Vacheron Constantin FiftySix reference 6073, but the JLC has the moon phase on the dial.
Before you buy a reverso you should probably look at the new Oris rectangular options. A fraction of the cost of both of these from an independent watchmaker with great styling
Stunning watch in every aspect. If you can't afford one, like me, there is a fantastic alternative out there. I'm talking about the Baume & Mercier Clifton 10549.
Same here, I always thought the master ultra thin is one of their best offerings. I would love to own that watch … maybe in a silver dial since I have a lot of blue watches now
It will be good if you show quickly the spec of the watch you are reviewing at beginning or end, including the materials used in the watch case, strap, RRP at time of review etc.
I came to say the same thing. The blue dial Frederique Constant FC-705NR4S6 Slimline Moonphase Automatic looks very similar. I prefer the hands that JLC used as they look more modern and the finishing looks superb here. But a Swiss watch at a third of the price that looks comparable to this beautiful JLC is hard to pass up. I love my white FC-335MC4P6 Heart Beat Moonphase. Nothing but good things to say about the FC brand.
The Master UT series was the one that really caught my attention and got me interested in JLCs, I remember it was the previous line with the grey(?) dials that mesmerized me. Both the Moonphase and Perpetual calendar models are on my 'work hard to get it' list. Come to think about it, I have little to no interest at all in the company's other lines of watches.... yes yes, I know, it's almost blasphemous to say I totally don't dig the reversos... On a side note, Thanks for the content you've been putting out so far. I always look forward to your wristshots to get an idea for how a watch wear cos I also have a 6.25" wrist, and you're the only one on the platform that have the same wrist size... LOL
Great Video, Teddy - wonderful macro shots! I think 2022 will focus more on dress watches. Omega Tresor (40 mm, small seconds and power reserve) totally underrated and this great 39 mm JLC Master Line Up, steel and gold/white gold with a lot of variations. Fantastic watches to enjoy in a more calm and restrained way. Cheaper alternatives are Nomos Orions and Junghans Meisters. There are so many wonderful choices ...or maybe saving up for a Calatrava? Greetings from Germany
A beautiful watch! I love the finishing overall, but took particular notice of the movement. Under the micro lens you get a great idea of how well the company does finishing. Less expensive movements, though they may appear nicely finished to the unaided eye, a macro shot will show roughness. But the well-finished watch will be smooth and sharp. The moon phase dial looks beautiful against the deep blue. BTW, I've had that Longines watch you showed as my Windows desktop for about six months now. For those that liked it, it's about $3k USD, give or take a few hundred.
Just a phenomenal piece; I am considering this one alongside a Calatrava for eventual addition to my collection. I would imagine the resale on the Patek is better but this is every bit as much of a great watch.
As you have mentioned a Longines (Master Collection) at the beginning of your video, I would bring to your attention a very very much similar, and relevant watch by…Longines. It is the automatic blue dial with moon phase with a date dial at 6, from the same Master Collection; it comes with a blue leather strap with white stiching. Personnaly, the overalls look of the Longines is just stunning and its aesthetic would probably rank as high, if not higher (with its numbered chapter ring), than the JLC (which is a tad boring) and, at less than one third of the price! Granted the Longines is a bit thicker (at 11.1 m.), but I believe that it is a very strong contender for a luxury entry watch with moon phase, a smashing look and an affordable price range!
Happy new year Teddy, I totally feel you; the Master Ultra Thin Moon is a gem: Unbeatable with what it offers at the price it does. I wish you continued success and your love of Vacheron Constantin sets you apart from the crowd, anyways. One of not many right?)) Cheers!
Stunning Dress watch with a great moon phase. It has my attention. I love the size. I have been looking hard at the IWC 42 perpetual but it's so expensive and is so much bigger
Finally, someone else notices this watch. This watch has been on my bucket list for about 3 years and apart from Theo and Harris no one has given it any love or noticed its pure elegance and level of craftsmanship....
I was about to write exactly the same 😃 it’s definitely a master piece.
I think I like it even more because of this! I think this is an amazing watch. This with the black dial is amazing, and for me the gold version with the creamy dial is my grail.
We JLC "guys" have an old saying, "90% Patek quality at 25% of the price."
I actually really like that it's more under the radar. I see Rolexes on people's wrists more often than one would expect and Rolexes are good watches but they are overhyped. If you ask the average person what a Rolex is most likely they could tell you. If you ask them what Patek Philippe makes then probably not. Just bought it finally
The more I see the brand, the more I love it. The understated elegance. Completely. It doesn’t scream “look at me”. But when you look, you get drawn in. And to me, that’s the ultimate of elegance.
I certainly like that you highlight not-so-popular pieces from some of these luxury brands. This is an awesome timepiece.
I love this watch. The moonphase on the blue adds a touch of whimsical elegance without taking away too much of its dressiness
Absolutely gorgeous watch! I think this is such an important piece for JLC because it fills the role of a traditional dress watch in their catalog. The Reverso is incredible but the design style, with its rectangular case, is a bit more niche on who it will appeal to. Stunning, well-balanced watch from JLC in all that it brings to the table. Thank you, Teddy.
Terrific, comprehensive review on a delightfully exquisite timepiece. I have a new appreciation for just how handsome this blue dial Ultra Thin Moon is. Beautiful!
I prefer the Master Control / Master Ultra Thin over the Reverso :) great designs, great movements and finally great history!
My first watch was this one in silver and it's still my favourite. Funny enough I never considered the Reverso, I am starting to consider it only recently for its more sporty design.
Saw it today in Geneva while touring the flagship stores. Was the nicest piece seen today.
I’m turning to this channel more and more lately. The content seems to be tailored to my interests. I have always considered this piece alongside the ultra thin reserve de march 39mm as two of the more compelling options from jlc besides the reverso. Top quality videos. The signal to noise ratio is about perfect.
My husband owns the master control! And I think it’s so cool to own a JLC THAT ISNT THE REVERSO! (… as much as I love the reverso!)

Having this watch along with a nice chronograph and nice diver, you’re all set.
Your stylish intro footage with the great music are inspiring. They always get me hyped for the video and to just better my style in general. Keep up the great work!
What a really nice chap you are. Always informative and objective. You have increased my enjoyment of treating myself to a new watch . Happy New Year
Bought the white dial version earlier this year, the design and finish are just pure elegance. My only problem with the watch is that the movement makes some light noise whilst self-winding.
I must say, that is a stunningly beautiful watch. A timeless classic. Great presentation too ..
Recently tried this watch on at the JLC boutique. Not only very thin but also quite light. Definately on the short list.

A true stunner, so alluring in blue! Perhaps with a Reverso in a different color, a dress watch collection would be complete!
Just picked up the black dial moon phase from JLC. It’s incredible. Love the video. Thanks 🙏 Teddy and Happy New Year
JLC is such an awesome brand, whichever model you buy, you will want another. There is just an integrity and refinement (not to mention history) to the brand that is hard to see in many others. I chose the Reverso first, but an ultra thin will inevitably be added to the collection.
I totally agree with you. I have just got the reverso last wk and after watching this video, i will add this ultra thin moon next.
Nice to see JLC getting some love. Great looking watch!
I have an Ultra Thin Moon and a Reverso. I love them both, but I think the Ultra Thin Moon is my favorite of the two.
I got the JLC ultra thin moon and like it a lot, in silver it wears a little large imo
I love both watches, but my grail is this MUT Moon in the rose gold - but you can’t go wrong with a Reverso.
Duo face??
I have that but with white dial…. Beautifull 😍😍😍
I ended up buying both at the same time, the gold master thin moon and a reverso. The reverso is a must have , but guess which one gets more wrist time? Suprisingly , the master moon gets alot of compliments, people usually catch it and said, hey, that's a new watch?
Absolutely radiant piece!
I think whole master collection of JLC is just amazing. LCC deserves more love from the community. Happy new year!
Hi, what kind of discount were you able to negotiate? I have a deposit on one at the moment
@@Xjami3b0yX depends where you are. And your buying history can give you up to 10% with Berrys in the Uk.
JLC is an amazing brand. I find their offerings more compelling then any of the holy Trinity.
The Polaris line is particularly interesting to me.
I have my eye on thr Master Ultra Thin MP as my first JLC to buy
the silver dial version was my fav. JLC for the longest time. This blue one tops it. On the list!
Long ago (20yrs?), JLC had a beautiful grey dial model with two chronographs left and right. I have never seen it since then even as a second hand. I hope that JLC will make it again.
that blue dial is just orgasmically stunning!
JLC is my favourite brand and this watch is an absolute perfection
I think the Polaris line is JLC’s best. The Polaris Chronograph is an absolute classic.
Another great review, JLC will be added to my collection in the near future. Happy New Year.
I would love this and the Omega Aqua terra for a two watch collection!
That’s what I have. Omega for every day and JLC for dressier occasions ( I have white dial). Love it!
@@kmunster04 Nice! Ya, I would have trouble picking what dial color I want for each. I like blue for both but that would probably be silly to have both in blue.

Glad you examined this piece. It’s my favorite from JLC. Have considered it many times, but I simply dont have a need for a dress watch…I wish I did.
The rose gold one can be worn more casually in my opinion
That montage intro was choice! I thought it going to be an official advertisement there for a second. Thanks for the info, Teddy!
5 to 6 grand??? 😂😂😂😂
That Master Thin Moon really suits you, Teddy. Like it was made for you. I know you like the Reverso but this is the dress watch for you in my opinion.
Tried on a Reverso last month.
Was not for my wrist. Was quite disappointed, as I really like the Reverso.
Anyways, happy new year to all.
Literally just bought this exact watch today from John in your 30k challenge video. Suuuuch an underrated watch
Excellent thumbnail with your suit and posture in front of the flag! Top-notch!
If you want something that's similar to this in terms of aesthetic but for the fraction of the price you can get a seiko blue moon ssa405j (although it does have some drawbacks)
I like this watch and the black sun moon reverso.
Love the “JLC Moon.”
Teddy, your videos are always so professional, no "um", unsure statements, dead air or pauses.
Keep it up, great job!
Really appreciate that, Thomas! Always trying to improve.
The Reverso is my favorite JLC watch.
Quite impressive specs in a 9mm thin automatic watch ! 🤩
Classic, clean and beautiful. Looks like the perfect dress watch to me... Except the price is way out of my budget. 😞
That watch matched up with the suit you're wearing absolutely fantastically.
If that's not part of your personal collection it should be!
Happy New Year Teddy! Thanks for introducing us to this watch. I love the dial and the thinness. Reminds me of the Bvlgari Octo Finnissimo and the Vacheron Constantin FiftySix reference 6073, but the JLC has the moon phase on the dial.
Looks alot like the blue dial Baume et mercier Clifton!.. Both watches are amazingly beautiful
This guy deserves way more subscribers, Thank youu Teddy :)
Just brought one today, totally love it!
Beautiful watch, one that I nearly purchased a few weeks back.
So far, this is my second favorite JLC (black one), just behind the burgundy Reverso small second.
Frederic Constant makes a nice version of the blue dial moonphase in a slim case. It retails for around $3000.
I am memorized by the aesthetics. Great presentation young man 👏👌
A beautiful watch!
I have the same watch in black with a gold moon phase . I pain in the butt because the pushers for the moon phase stopped working after 3 mounts
This is the dress watch that would get me into the segment…dangerously good looks.
Please review the 39mm Jaquet Droz opaline dial moonphase! Insanely nice watch for the price, yet hardly ever talked about
Love jlc wish I could afford it I love the case thickness and look the chrono with the push buttons they are kust nice
Make the Polaris smaller (max of 38-39 mm) extend the power reserve and water resistant.
Should I get a Tudor Black Bay Chrono and a Cartier Tank or this?
This watch is so beautiful 🥰
Whats the difference between q1368470 and q1368471? Cant find much information on this
Can you make a special video on watch accessories (like watch winder) and on how to maintain automatic and mechanical watches in general?
Stunning Dress watch with a great moon phase. It has my attention. I love the size. I have been looking hard at the IWC 42 perpetual but it's so expensive and is so much bigger
