  • Imagine waking up and stepping outside to hundreds of identical Disney like castles. In 2014 that was the idea to create the Burj Al Babas village. A company wanted to build 732 chateaus for wealthy foreigners but in 2018 they went bank rupt on this 200,000,000 dollar project. Today only 537 stand in a mountainous area in Turkey completely abandoned. Join us on our journey to the abandoned Burj Al Babas.

China has real estate problems as well. The people thought putting money into real estate was their way to grow their fortune. So they invested in companies that built places like these or houses that will never get built because the company ends up folding.

I get what you mean, they are beautiful, but there are too many and they need finishing. Wealthy people wouldn't want to live like this, all in the same identical property, it's madness. I would only like to teleport there to explore them, although having seen one would know them all! I would not want to live there or be gifted one. Not ideal. But magical to hang out there for a short time.

Easy to say in with hindsight why it failed. But:
    1. Nearly 120KM from the Black Sea or anything remotely resembling sea front
    2. The prices indicated on the brochure are comparative to 1-3 bedroom flats and apartments in central London. Overpriced.
    3. Closest airport is over 140KM away
    4. Whilst in the mountains, it doesn't offer anything remotely 'picturesque' or something out of the ordinary.
    5. Surrounding areas look very underdeveloped.
I feel sorry for the people who purchased properties before the construction started. Poor advise.

    I want.
    To go.
    Camping.
    There.
It will be a multiple-day expedition. The first night will be camping on a hill overlooking the place. I wake up the next morning, do a morning routine like making breakfast and packing up as I overlook this place in the distance: like having a goal physically in sight. I explore for a bit and set up a new camp somewhere either in the middle of the road or in a house. Maybe I'll set up some torches or something, or make a place for a bonfire. I'll probably like make a mark here by making a safe campfire or something like that, not with something that would ruin the whole place like with spray paint or something stupid. And if I make a campfire, on the third day, I'll go back up the hill and see the place as the sun goes down. The idea of the campfire came from me being able to see it from a distance on top of a hill.
Though, I probably won't go here alone. I definitely want to bring some friends. It would be like a fun place and a cool thing that I'd want to do with my best friend(s). A wonderful and mysterious experience.
The whole place also gives me vibes as I would probably want to live in a place like this in a zombie apocalypse or in some sort of dystopia. Hopefully, it will be isolated from the rest of society. It will just be me, maybe a couple of other people in my group, and a whole bunch of identical Disney castle things.

Why didnt they just opened with what they had. And with time they could have completed the project. Crazy how they dont have the money to complete. Eyes are bigger than pockets.

How another investors don’t get interest in buy this all project and continue to get it down, they could make a good money out of this, of course they wouldn’t pay the 200 M but they could pay half and finish this beautiful project

I can't help but to think whoever did this got greedy. Think about it. If they only did 300 (wich is still a crazy amount) they could have finished it and they would have made money off of it by now.

Concrete! Styrofoam? Cost cutting? That's crazy but they do have different construction codes if at all in Turkey. Were they the same builders as the castles that went bankrupt? I have so many questions! Lol

The reason why its Styrofoam is because it's cheap materials and cheap development. One of these houses would be beautiful if done properly and not part of a mass ant-nest like complex.

This happened in China too. Selling a dream for investors they build whole cities that will never be lived in and even promise houses that will never be built as a ways to increase their wealth. Everyone thinks real estate is the way to make your fortune but sadly that’s not always the case. Big building companies sell the dream but they are the only ones making money until the money dries up and the ponzi-esque scheme crumbles. They needed more and more investors to pay for the building of homes that others had already bought.

Its so odd that you guys refer to them as disney like castles. These type of castles are included in all types of fairytales. I am not sure what makes them particularly "disney like" to you guys.....

Really enjoyed this exploration. The first set of houses were kind of creepy how they were all built the same. The castles are pretty, just bizarre that they have so many castles. Thank you for showing us this.

If it had been successful, you would have had all these houses close together and all the same monotonous style without variation. Ugh!
