Drum Set Tour of Thomas Lang's "All Snares Small Kit"

- Well, here it is! Since my recent stream on Drum Channel many of you have been asking about this specific drum set configuration. many of you wanted to see details of this kit so here it is. The right HiHat is mounted on the kick drum, the pedals are MCD chain drive pedals, the HiHats are both direct drive. Both Toms are also snares, or the snares are toms...however you want to look at it. Rata Tom and Concert Bass drum to the left of the left HiHat. Cowbell played with the left foot and muffle rings, leather hoops, old-school kick drum beaters and a Nickel over Brass main snare. Lots of reading material for all drum nerds like myself!

Thomas is so passionate and charming when talking about his drums.
Thomas is one of the few drummers that a tour around his set is a small concert with "secret tips" thrown in. What an amazing talent Mr. Lang is. I have to admit I watch all of his videos at least twice and I always hear or see something new the 2nd round.
There are good drummers, great drummers and Thomas Lang. Thank god for UA-cam.

Continually expanding the realms of possibilities with drums and percussion. Nothing is ever off the table. Thomas could hit a series of dustbin lids and make them sound like they are worth thousands of pounds. His ingenuity, imagination and technical ability knows no boundaries. Absolutely outstanding musician and a talent that that you may only see a few times in a generation. Hes devoted his life to the art and whilst there are many outstanding drummers out there covering many genres, I never tire of listening to Thomas and always look forward to what hes going to come up with next. I will never ever reach his level, and Im not being a defeatist at all because I know my limits, but he does inspire me to at least be the very best that I can be. He is a incredible musician ..... or should we say .... "magician" within the art?
A lesson in playing with dynamics and at the same time a pure joy watching a master of drums. And you make it looks so easy!
I love that Thomas explores all the possibilities of drumming, out of the box thinking but maintaining the essentials of great drumming. Not forgetting to mention the way he explains everything. He makes learning exciting and easily understood.

Any insight or advice you could give to why you chose the MCD over the MDD's? Do they play or feel very similar to the 9000 pedal aside from the perforated foot board?
Or if anyone wouldn't mind chiming in; I have a 9000, and would love to try a MDD or MCD if it'd be a worthy upgrade, but my local music shops don't have any to play or demo.

No disrespect to Dave Grohl, for he's one of my favorite musicians, but I get so sick of people saying he's the best drummer in the world. I'm pretty sure he'd agree that he's a great drummer a world class song writer, but he's got nothing on Thomas. Get a clue. I live with a pair of drumsticks in arms reach always, and I just hope I become half of what this guy is on the drums!

I'd be interested to know how high the bass drum beaters are set at. In all of his videos, it looks like they're on the low side - not sure if that's the case or just an optical illusion, but beater height is a huge pedal adjustment variable.
Hi Thomas, I've watched your creative control video since a long time ago and I was so looking forward to buying the same practice pads that you had- called the Remo Thomas Lang Practice kit. RP-1200 when I could afford it.
Now that I possibly could, I was wondering if you would ever release another variant of that practice pad kit.
I've been working on that idea for several years now and yes, I would like to revisit the original design and even tweak/ improve it some more. I will post all about it when it is ready to be released.
¿Haven't thought about having a definitive drum and cymbal setup for the rest of your career that expresses your personal sound? You are one of the most chameleon drummers for permanently changing kits.
He is just like "yeah so I added this piece to the set" *proceed to blow your fucking brain with an extremely high precision, fast and tight drum solo you cannot even comprehend what is he hitting or where did it came from*
This feels like a kit that is built from the ground up for grooving in the pocket. This is not a fills/chops kit. Super cool. THIS is the drumming I love to see and hear.
