Minority population's inherent mistrust in the medical establishment is absolutely a major barrier to healthcare, as well social workers are a pivotal bridge between patients and physicians to be able to receive equitable and timely treatment for any disease. Some of the best medical/medical school content on the tube. Question for you, do you have any older, nontraditional students in your class? I always wonder how someone of your age (I assume ~22-24) as well as your resident doctors and physicians, feel about working with older students ages 35-40? Would be great to see 73q with one of these students if possible. Either way, keep up the great work!

    • @NDMD

i do have a couple students in my class in their early 30s but i typically don't even see them as that! I feel like it would be the same way with how physicians interact with them. it's all about the student understanding they are still a student and accepting the role of a learner.

I'm currently in PA school and I strongly considered Orthopedics going in. This interview definitely has me considering women's health. I appreciate this interview! She dismantled any bias beliefs I thought about ob/gyn.

The mortality for Black and brown women giving birth is so much higher than white women, so it's great to see a successful, bright, young Black woman who is dedicated to this great cause.
