Took me 5 minutes to realize this wasn't Vogue
didn't realize it wasn't vogue until i read this comment
hahahahah
True.. Very True
Took me 30 seconds to realize that
Took me 9
This doctor just radiates intelligent, cool confidence. If I needed a neurosurgeon I'd want someone just like him. Great interview!
Exaaaactly
💯
I'm sure he have a high IQ he talks fast and on point
I need a husband like him
Yeah well i got very bad vibe from him, pretty sure he is a psyhcopath.
Andy - thank you for the incredible opportunity to share my perspective and story, look forward to future collaborations!
thank you so much for your awesome words Dr. Rutkowski! You're definitely an inspiration to many future neurosurgeons watching here
Hello Dr. Rutkowski, it was an absolute treat to watch your interview, as well as your wifes’!
Love from Pakistan
Regards
Sabrina
Amazing
Thank you for agreeing to do this interview Dr. Rutkowski!
Loved this video and how down to earth you and your wife is. Please do finish your book! I could only imagine it to be great
he does that lip tightening and nod after answering every question and idk if its just me but its such a surgeon thing to do
gives you a sense of reassurance
😐 *nod, nod* 🙂
@@SAINTSLUMBER exactly! 😆
Omg lol that’s funny I’m half through the vid and read ur comment and noticed it and now thinking back to previous docs I’ve seen they all tighten their lips and nod their head 😂. Almost like every cop wears so called cop glasses and says vehicle instead of car and says hold tight
I defend doctors in court when they get sued. And, from experience, surgeons do that when they’re trying to hold back a snarky comment 😅
Lol I just now noticed
It’s giving Derek Shepard 😍
girl - I agreeeeeee
He does have his vibe
yes 😭😭😭
More like Jack Shepard
I was just thinking this😭
Wish I had the strength to have 25% of confidence that he carries.
Yeah… it almost seems like he’s acting
@@divinegon4671 Everyone is always acting to a degree, to present themselves in a certain way. Of course a neurosurgeon is going to put on an air of competence and confidence, especially for a public video likely to be seen by patients and future doctors he will oneday work with.
When you do things as specialized as neurosurgery that results in saving people's lives, you get confidence.
@@lachyt5247 but all the other doctors on this channel don’t have this “acting” affectation.
Thats arrogance not confidence
"Take a deep breath, and remember the body has an amazing ability to heal itself"
For some reason, I found this abstractly comforting.
As a 3X neurosurgery patient, this strangely would help.
can my body recover from this cold already lmao have had to miss a week of school (it's not even covid)
@@isabellewarren535 😅it will fingers crossed, just remember to treat it right
Him and his wife are the definition of a power couple
Omg when the video first started i was like “do all houses in Georgia look the same?? this looks almost identical to the neurologist house” it all makes sense lol
hahaha nah you're just having severe deja vu
Lol same here
Hahahaha I was thinking the same thing!@
It’s pretty interesting that his wife is a neurologist and he’s a neurosurgeon. :)
I thought she'd be stay at home wife or working part time at least, do they ever see each other 🤭
@@lillysmith4040 ?
@@juli3836 lilly is right
@@lillysmith4040 Well they have a 11 month old baby...so technically they must see each other enough to make a baby I guess. 🤔😂
@@lillysmith4040 what sort of stupid question😂
I’m an aspiring med student, wanting to be a neurosurgeon. Thank you so much for this amazing interview!!!!🤩
Doc Here.
Best of Luck with anatomy. And Noodles
@@theowleyes07 As someone who wants to go to medical school myself. How do you pay for it, can you just take out student loans for all the ~200k dollars it is going to cost, and how does one live in an apartment and have a job while having to set aside time to study for quite literally an entire day?
@@westonwheeler2311 some medical courses dont let you have a job on the side s its too strenous and as for loans u can definetly take them out as long as you qualify for them and paying them out is a job at your end u can either have passive incomes to pay the loans or pay them later in life
@@westonwheeler2311 just take out loads of loans. its gonna be a lot of money you have to pay back but it'll be worth it
The fact that he acknowledges that the bad stereotypes are true😂😂
Wowwwww.....I loved it.
He is so humble and has positive aura.
A neurosurgeon and a neurologist, two neuro people in one family that's exciting.
Gonna watch this whenever I feel unmotivated.
I was smiling ear to ear until the very end.
Thanks for this 😊❤.
glad it helped! definitely an inspiring family and two incredible physicians
M4 here: Yeah cuz he's in front of a camera lol Nice surgeons of any kind are the exception not the rule. Neurosurgeons even more so. He may be a nice guy but just assume they are all jerks until proven otherwise.
@@nackbaxster1369 lol yeah they have God complexes.
well now i feel bad for the kid if they ever have one. ik a kid with a neurosurgeon father who literally barely sees him.
Humble? Lol
Neurosurgeon's have the eye's of a hawk, the heart of a lion and hands of a lady. I have come to fully believe this after my sister had multiple craniotomy's because of having glioblastoma (may she RIP) and now myself having a craniotomy for two out four anyerisms that was treated by clipping. My surgeon and his surgical team saved my life. I have so much respect and gratitude for him.
If a person wants money they'll go into finance NOT medical school. It's way too long and brutal to simply do for money. 4 years of college+ 4 years of med school+ 7 years of residency+ 2 years of fellowship= 17 YEARS of training. There are faster ways to make money so DO NOT go into medicine if your goal is to "make money." You have to LOVE the field of medicine and helping people or else you'll be angry and bitter. - This is coming from a medical student 7 years in.
Can I ask after how many years do you start working and getting paid?
@@crimesolvers6591you get paid when you start residency
Do you regret going into medicine?
One of my classmates became a neurosurgeon. He was notable for graduating second in the class and for having had the highest National Board scores in the country.
Well I mean you don’t have to achieve that high to become a neurosurgeon but that definitely is very impressive
@@xplicitgoofy1015 I think he was more likely to have become a truly superb neurosurgeon rather than just an average one or worse. If you're the patient, which one would you choose? A mediocre student might be more likely to be satisfied with low levels of professional achievement.
@@wholeNwon I think a patient could care less as long as you are a competent neurosurgeon anyways in order to get into neurosurgeon residency you must have amazing achieving grades and show major interest because every residency program in the country only accept 3-5 residents per year for neurosurgery. So I’m pretty sure most neurosurgeons are skilled in what they do are extremely knowledgeable what I 100% see your viewpoint it’s just sometimes patients have 0 background knowledge of medicine so as long as they know you are competent or something I’m pretty sure they don’t mind if you operate on them if you get what I mean
If he is naturally talented means pick things up quickly then only it acheivable in long run.
It was very heartening to see how genuinely grateful Dr. Rutkowski was to his residents. I am sure he is a wonderful teacher, and they are lucky to have him as well.
I’m an neurosurgery operating room nurse at Emory so it’s cool to see doctors outside the OR!!
It's pretty neat to see them the 1 hour per week they get outside the OR
liar
@@duckcluck123 why would she lie about being a nurse. she could've said she was a surgeon since nurses are sometimes looked over.
Heyyy I go to Emory! I'm an MPH Student :)
Lol hi 👋🏻
Dr. Rutkowski is extremely grounded and humble. I’m about to go into medical school and definitely watching these successful doctors gives me even more motivation and passion for the field!
How's medical school going?
He is so calm and confident. Would love to have a doctor like him.
He's got that ironman swagger.
I thought he came across as nervous as he couldnt sit still, talk real fast, and was fidgiding... he said himself he is an introvert...introverts generally hate to be interviewed
He also doesn't have a lot of time off I am thinking is why.😊
My dad had a brain tumor taken out when my older sister was just one yo and my mom had no studies or job, so they were so SCARED. Thankfully the operation went great, it was not cancer, and it even cured the epilepsy he had. He has never had an epileptic attack since then!
So your mom was concerned of lack of income in the future if your dad dies rather than your father's wellbeing?
@@iidentifyasachickennugget9999 no, they were afraid of my sisters future... Not having a dad and losing your loved one is hard enough, now imagine it without a penny to at least stay afloat while you grieve
This is awesome man. Thank you for your hard work.
The episode we've been waiting for!!!
Dr Rutkowski is so inspiring to listen to! Probably one of the best in this series so far.
This was an incredible video. Thank you Andy for making this, it was filmed impeccably well, and thank you Dr Rutkowski, your insights are invaluable.
I wish Mr. and Mrs. Dr. Rutkowski could be my mentors! They both have such amazing energy and outlooks to the field. Fantastic and totally encouraging interviews!!
I’ve noticed people who are successful in their career path always recommend getting a mentor.
Loved his honesty.
He seems like such a chill guy with a good outlook on life, I aspire to be like him someday
So incredibly excited for this!
Love his interview the best so far
I just want to thank surgeons for dedicating so much of their youth to education and working so hard.
These videos are the best! It’s so fun and so informational at the same time!
LOVE this series
He is down-to-earth and humble!
This channel is so helpful- thank you!!!!
Thank you for this!! 🙌🏻
I find it so regal that all of his movements are so intentional. He is perfectly frozen in place for a few seconds between each movement, and it just exudes confidence.
What an amazing human being. Our society is lucky to have this guy- and his significant other!
I appreciate his reminder that the body can heal itself.
This is amazing!! I am so pumped for the next decade or so of my life!!
People like him deserve nothing but the utmost respect. True heroes in our society.
Love these, thank you! 🤩 Maybe cardiologist next 👀
Oh, I loved this! I love neurology, and love hearing him talk about it.
Straight to the point and direct.
This has made me even more passionate about becoming a neurosurgeon
I love my health care professionals. I literally thank them, every visit, for staying focused, staying dedicated, and staying in school.
You're just as kind caring and passionate as was my surgical grandfather.
This was exactly what I needed!! Thank you ND MD and Dr. Rutkowski!!
I love that saying the body has an amazing ability to heal itself!
Love hearing from different specialties
Love this one! Good luck with that sweet baby and juggling work schedules!
my favorite question was that last one! he said commit to your dream and push through the hard work. one can only try 😊 amazing video here!!
Neurosurgery seems so rewarding
Oh man...... I absolutely love this. He is so down to earth and nice❤
It's relieving that a neurosurgeon has time to relax and do his hobby. Im a medstud who love making art and music, im scared that i would never have time for it
I've had several different neurosurgeons, and 3 brain surgeries, and I could definitely pick him out in a crowded room as a neurosurgeon right away! 👍 I'm so grateful for their focus, commitment, and earned confidence to do what others cannot, especially knowing what a toll it takes on then personally (hubby is a Doc, too). Thanks for this. ❤️
Love this interview. My nephew has a brain tumor and we are so grateful to the neurologist. This dr is amazing, thanks for opening up about your life and the sacrifices you ve made to heal people. Good bless.
Just wow ! What an amazing personality. 👏 Glad that I watched this video . Learned so much .
Dr. Rutkowski!
One of my favorite neurosurgeons!
I really gained another level of respect for him when he said he appreciates his residents the most, would love to study under him
Loved this!
love the format of these interviews! would love to see a psychiatrist too
This video has changed my life forever!!
Very charismatic Dr.
Brilliant guy! He would likely be successful at any endeavor he chose. He probably feels life is a double edge sword - always striving for perfection but not having enough time to pursue more challenges.
"Commit to your dream
Push through the hard work
Don't be afraid to fail"
Big respect to this guy. I am insanely envious of anyone who always knew what they wanted to do right from the get go...
Not the first surgeon i have seen take a hard nope out of pediatrics....for good reason, you have to spend so long dealing with facebook physicians it makes you doubt your reality...and u have to do it with a smile, all whilst suddenly realising the kids were never scared of the drs but scared of their reactive and utterly irrational parents being out in public.
Aspiring neurosurgeon here! Still a long way to go but I hope to be one in the coming future!!
He is so calm and polished 😌
I am feeling more positive about going to med school next year.
Thank God for bright and capable minds like him!!!!!!
Wow he works such high hours but is willing to do an interview with you. You are so fortunate for this opportunity.
Marvelous! Thank you so much
He's a true gem💗🙌🏼
I just watched the 73 questions with a neurologist video and I was amazed at how both houses look the same 😂🤦🏾♀️
They are the same.
Husband and wife.
Love seeing another Neurosurgeon on here. Good video!
its mind blowing how similar I am with him and how much different we are at the same time and that is in how we both wanted to become a neurosurgeon but I wasn't strong enough to push furrowed when life got in the way.
For some time now I was petty about it and maybe still.. but for some reason this video was really comforting!
I study optometry now in an OD program and I hope I find passion in it as much as I have in neurosurgery since med school is long gone now.
Great video thanks!
This guy is GOALS. Just the way he carries himself. I can 💯 see him in radio. I would listen to his podcast. Soooo bright and this is going to sound weird but there is no tension in his voice or body posture 😊
There's not a lot neurosurgeons, cardiothoracic surgeon, and other specialists out there. It takes a lot work, time, and effort to get to where you want to be Then there's the constant education because as a doctor the education is never ending. There's always a new discovery, medicine, etc out there you have to keep yourself updated with.
Neurosurgery is very romanticized. I'll be a resident next year and wanted to do neurosurgery since I started med school. But my practical year (I did 4 months in neurosurgery) opened my eyes. I really don't want to ruin my life for my job. I've talked to many neurosurgeons and the majority said that they regret doing it. No free time, no time for the kids, constant stress and work and finally health problems that come with it later on. And to be honest, the surgeries aren't nearly as interesting as I thought them to be anyways. Most of the time you're just more or less sucking out brain tissue with a "small vacuum cleaner", it's oftentimes not even precise or interesting work. So I guess it's a nope for me, even though the brain is super fascinating.
Why do u always post under anything to do with neurosurgery it’s like your trying to convince yourself it’s bad most people in this field don’t care about anything expect saving lives
@@tayz7850 To educate. People are delusional about this. I just want people to think twice. Neurosurgeons don't save as many lives (brain tumors in adults are mostly uncurable and the surgery just gives them half a year or a year more. And spinal surgery is mostly not life-threatening) as other specialties like trauma-surgery, interventional neuroradiology or cardiology. Man even internal medicine.
@@Q-Bits8 what are u going to specialize in then ?
@@tayz7850 i have the same question
I can second this. Neurosurgery is a beautiful specialisation but it comes with a lot of sacrifice
Thank you so much for sharing these kind of videos with us... So informative a'd so inspirational 💕 keep up the good work
thank you so much :)
Very articulate, nice man.
When he said a rough week it's a 100+ I went: Yes Doc, I'mma stop you right there. NOT FOR ME!!! I have mad respect for neurosurgeons who put in really crazy hours. And Dr Rutkowski seems like a very good Doctor. The one I'll love to have in my corner if I or a loved one ever needs neurosurgical attention. Regards Sir ❤❤❤
Thank you for Video, Love it. It encourages us to get up and be ambitious.
Love these videos. Really insightful
Another great video ND! Keep up the brilliant work
What true hero he is so humble and a al round amazing guy yes I really enjoyed this video ❤👌
Thank you so much for these videos! They are truly insightful and inspirational
glad you've enjoyed them :)
He is so inspiring! 😍😭
Ufff the starting intro man.....absolutely legit🔥
I'm currently in high school becoming a neurosurgeon is one of the greatest aspirations I've worked towards for a long time. Sometimes I lose confidence and feel like I can't become a neurosurgeon, but this interview gave me a lot of the confidence I needed. ❤❤❤
subbed to this channel way ago...popped up in my recommendations ... glad to see you grow.. future neurosurgeon here
Andy - looking forward to when you interview a nephrologist, so we can finally know for sure how much water is needed in a day lol
hahaha idk they might turn that question into a lecture
@@NDMD NO DOUBT.
Yess, love these vids!

glad you enjoyed :)

What’s his wife’s name?
Inspiring! Helping with medical school confidence!
He knew since 5th grade that he wanted to be a neurosurgeon, wow. Must be nice knowing what your path is so early. I'm 20 and I still don't know.
"Embrace the challenge." YES.
