Season 1: "People say I am the best boss."
Season 7: "Best boss I ever had."
🤯
Wow 🥺
"see you tomorrow boss"
Season 8: "BOBODDY!"
@@krazyzyko season 8: 🤢 lol
Jim tried for years to avoid hanging out with Michael, and the day he wants to, he can't.
Ok this fact just made me sadder. Haha
It's fair.
I did not need to read this 😭😭😭😭😭
jim always makes plan for michael when he know Michael couldnt make it. Even until the last moment
😭
I love that throughout the entire show Michael takes every opportunity he has to call for attention, and when he's leaving, when he could have made a big deal and a huge dramatic exit, he tries to go out without anyone even knowing
Yupp. It was Steve's idea to show Michael's journey. Started off as a guy who just wanted attention and when he left...he left quietly 😢😢
my thoughts exactly
Because he's a changed man. He's accepted, he's loved, he's happy. That's all he even wanted and needed. Even when he was dating that married woman, michael was so happy he wasn't at all interested when Pam said he wanted to talk to Michael about her and Jim's sexnlife problems, and that was with someone who's not even close to being a perfect match as holly. Holly accepted him for everything that he was, especially the often cringy jokes, and even likes them and do them herself.
Okay. I'm crying.
You know Holly completed him the moment he didn't need attention. Attention seekers tend to have a void inside their heart and I know that because I was one too. Holly was one of those who completed him, making Michael's character grow exponentially.
"Best Boss I ever had..."
Hands down, the best line of this scene. The way John Krasinski delivers it as well as Steve Carell's reaction was beautiful.
If Steve Carrell never chose to leave the office, Michael Scott wouldn't be the best boss that Jim has ever had.
Fun fact: The tears are real, both actors started to uncontrollably weep when they recorded this scene, in fact it took them 17 takes. You can even see that their eyes are already red and teary at the start of the scene.
Makeups didnt exist back then I suppose
@@wahyudyatmika5119 yes it did but you have to know these actors worked together for years and steve carell really was leaving
this is wrong
@@flipf615 have you heard of google? look it up

"Best boss I ever had" - Jim Halpert. One of the most touching lines in the entire series.
For me it was the end of the series when he talks about what he does at this company and how everything he has, he owes to this company... it made me realize even tho throughout the show he said he has no future at this company, all along he started one 3 feet away from him and made him and Dwight grow to the way they became at the end
Don't forget
"Never ever ever Give up"
-Michael Scott when Jim Halpert breakdown because Pam & Roy Wedding -
That’s probably the only boss he had at that time
My very favorite thing about this episode is that in his sadness Micheal almost decides to stay, then Holly calls..and talking to Holly for a minute reminds Michael not what he is losing but what he is gaining moving to Colorado with Holly. He will miss his friends but she is his family now...
The one time Micheal need to be wise and brave, and he followed through beautifully.
😭😭😭😭
One of my favorite scenes in the entire series
THIS. The moment we knew Michael is a grown man
That's a very powerful scene!
I’m glad Jim reassured him also that he was doing the right thing. Holly was his soulmate ❤️
The empathy Jim shows for Michael here is beyond belief. He is so intuitive about how devastated Michael is about leaving the only place where he ever really had any "friends"
More than friends; co-workers.
@@NeonPixels81more than co workers, friends
@@muqxxtnope « more than friends, co-workers », it’s a Michael’s line when he is dating Pam’s mom
I cried on this episode. The paintball fight and the letter for Dwight, the talk with Jim, the unheard convo with Pam; man this episode really hits hard. What added more was when Creed was raising his mug with the sign “WORLD’S BEST BOSS” then said, “See you tomorrow, boss.” never knew he’s not coming back.
lots of great men cried during this
See you tomorrow, boss.
yea i screenshoted that part. underrated.
I'll never understand how Steve Carell never won an Emmy for his work on The Office. I'm not sure there's a better lead comedy actor over the last 30 years of television.
I will never understand why the f they didnt renewed his contract!
@@sjuninho1000 Think he wanted to do other things like movies. Letting Carell go sounds literally insane, what a crazy person would do.
Bc they gave it to fucking Sheldon Cooper sadly
@@H4DI_8 but i sincerely think michael tooooo deserve s this so so so much
@@H4DI_8 wow ,2 of my fav actors and characters
The other emotional moment that no one mentions is when Michael is eating lunch in the break room, Jim comes in with others and asks Michael to join them but he declines, almost finished anyway. Then you can see the group talking amongst themselves and Michael in the background trying not to cry, knowing he will miss being there.
He was crying because they were talking about replacing an old shreddar with a new one and he was connecting that to his current state in office.
It's that "everyday" feeling of: This is my job here... I mean something... I have my routine, my friends... everything I depend on.
I have had these feelings a lot when I move, or have to leave jobs. Knowing I had my routine, my time spent with things I enjoyed doing.
What episode is that?
@@goofylopez1913 I believe it's the same "Goodbye Michael" episode but earlier in it.
i actually cried when pam asked michael if she should get his favorite ice cream cake and michael just answered "what's your favorite, pam?" like it really is a goodbye
This is probably the most direct Jim's ever been to Michael lol. Basically any time the two interacted Jim was either being sarcastic or pranking him XD
Guys it's the afghanistananis.
not really. There are in fact tons of moments where Jim was being directly honest to Micheal, whenever he had grievance or something.
I mean, no? Jim clearly respected Michael. They have so many serious, down to earth scene together.
Jim saying, "Best boss I ever had," was the perfect validation for Michael.
The absolute conviction with which Jim says 'absolutely not' gets me every time.
Never been so happy about a character getting a happy ending than Michael Scott
Totally agree. Great line. Right behind saying "...what a great boss you turned out to be. Best boss I ever had," it was the best gift he could have given Michael. A final stamp of approval, showing his sadness for the loss, but encouragement in moving forward to start a life with his soulmate.
This scene is such sweet agony.
The fact that Jim figured it out and then prodded Michael to see if he’d come clean is so beautifully done.
I know everyone loves Pam and Michael’s goodbye, but for me this was the one that hurt and resonated the most.
As moving as this scene is... I feel like Michael Scott’s quote “T-shirt idea: goodbyes stink” is criminally under-appreciated. It kills me every time 🤣
I commented earlier after he does that, Jim gives his signature camera stares by this time he’s trying to hold back tears
Never in his wildest dreams Jim would have thought of being sad on Michael leaving. Ironically the tears he shed that day were not even fictional. That's what makes this moment so special imo.
Really well put ❤️
“Am I doing the wrong thing?”
Yes. Look what happened to Season 8 and 9.
What happened?
That's because the writers left
8 was alright 9 was terrible
That wasn't his fault though, it was NBC's for not renewing his contract.
I still love season 8 and 9 just as much as i love the previous ones
Krasinski said in a pod cast that there were around 17 takes of pure, dribbling crying before they actually made the final cut. That fact alone makes this scene so much more heartwrenching. Great scene, great actors, great show.
This scene hits hard because it reminds me of all the last times I ever seen someone I cared about but never said goodbye because I never knew it was the last time.
When Michael takes off his lav mic at the airport and Pam sees/chases him down, we can no longer hear anything going on, but we see them speak and embrace and it’s so real… just like when no one came to her art show and he showed up at the end and made her feel validated without even knowing how. The Office (US) began as a show with uncomfortable, cringey humor, but it has endured for years after it ended bc everyone who worked on that show from the writer’s room to the crew to the onscreen talent knew exactly how to capture emotional resonance.
Not surprisingly, this was Steve Carell's hardest episode to film in the show. They really should've renewed the actor's contract for the last 2 seasons.
wasn't he the one who chose not to renew it? (I know I'm a bit late)
@@MudmanBlues No there was some sort of miscommunication between Steve and the higher-ups of NBC and his contract never got renewed for season 8. I don't remember all the details, but I highly doubt it was because of Steve wanting to leave.
It was steve wanting to leave. The reason being he wanted to spend some time away with his wife and daughter and the shooting schedules was coming in the way.
He wanted to spend time with his family. That’s all.
@@steliosgoutziamanis3903 He also stated NBC made no real attempt to keep him. He asked to do another 2 years, the deadline passed for NBC to agree to his contract, and he just assumed they didn't want him.
Before I started this episode, I was aware of the fact that the next 20-30 minutes are going to be really important and that it will stick with me throughout my life. The development of this character was so incredible that its departure was hard to watch. While he was leaving he said "They say on your deathbed, you never wish you spent more time at the office. But I will"
Thankyou Steve for giving us this incredible character
If you don’t get choked up watching this you’re not human.
its 2023, and I still cry the same way I cried watching it for the first time.
Same and its 2024 lol
@@SYEDSHAZEB46013me too
i never cried in my life like i cried to this scene. it’s like 2 bestfriends wanting to say their goodbye manly but also so sincere
Bro I cried😭
It hurts so much because this is how I feel about my mom. I sent her texts telling her we would have a party when she left the hospital. But I knew she was never leaving and I think deep down she knew it too. She died in September from covid..and I don't know if I'll ever be okay again. But I like to hope someday I will.
Hugs.
Kaytie- she must be in jannah/paradise now! Way better life than this one. Inshallah we will all reunite in jannah ❤
Rest in peace Mom❤

0:47 right here. Where Jim makes a look at the camera like he always does with Michael’s shenanigans, but he isn’t annoyed or making fun of him for once, it’s like he’s saying “I’m gonna miss that”
I finished that episode and now I rush to UA-cam to make sure that I am not the only one who cried
No I sobbed
Mom: "Your eyes are red, have you be doing drugs?"
Me: "eh.. yes"
Jim confessing how much he truly cares about Michael is one of the most emotional moments on the show. The other was when Michael showed up to Pam's gallery and told her how proud he was of her.
With the Chunky is his pocket.
This signifies the uncertainty of life, and Creed saying "See you tomorrow boss" defines it. You never know when you will see someone you've been seeing for years for the last time. Appreciate every thing you have for *life is nothing but a series of uncertain events*.
pov: you can’t stop thinking about this, so you searched it up and now you’re sad
Yep👍🏼
What started out as a meme for me turned out to be one of the best sitcom i watched in my life. It brought me laughter and tears.
Michael is so sweet 😭😞 I’m so glad that they were all happy for him and all were going to miss him and he felt their love for him. it’s all he ever wanted 😭
Michael Scott was always the boss I tried to emulate, silly but good hearted and cared about his employees. Recently a good friend left my company and he told me teary eyed just how good a boss I turned out to be and that was one of the best moments I'll always hold dear.
I love the fact that Micheal was upset because he got a mitten from Phyllis for Christmas (season 2) ig, and now he couldn't leave without those mittens from Phyllis despite the fact they were incomplete. Micheal does redeem himself here, and it is bitter sweet to see Micheal grow and eventually grow out.
This scene was so powerful because not only were the characters thanking each other and saying goodbye but John Krasinski thanking Steve Carell for the opportunity of being on the show and his launching his career.... Scene gets me every time 🥹
I love how jim was the only one smart enough to figure out that michael was leaving today
It's funny how Jim tried very hard not to become friends with Michael, but in the end he was the only one who knew him well enough to find out Michael's plans to leave early, as a friend would.
the voice crack at 1:03 ......No, I will never forget the producers for this
Emotions in this scene are real. They couldn't hold their tears
In my opinion, the office should have ended at this episode.
@Dead Pool yh
Andy had some hilarious moments
I agree
@Rexy 3521 Micheal was the backbone of the show and if you remove a backbone the show dies
@Rexy 3521 Steve Carell was the star of the show. The Office without Steve Carell is like Spongebob without Tom Kenny, or Breaking Bad without Aaron Paul. No Jesse = no Breaking Bad. No Steve Carell = No The Office. That’s why The Office sucked without Carell
This scene makes tears well up every time I watch it. If Michael Scott isn't the best comedy character in TV history, I don't know who is.
This episode made me cry more than Titanic, Sometimes in April, and Fried Green Tomatoes all at once. Steve Carell is such an amazing actor. I mean they were all good, but it's only when Michael leaves that you realize it'll never be the same again.
A friendly reminder that every thing comes to an end.
Its so sad and special that Jim was the only one who clever enough to understand Michael was actually leaving that day.....
In the earlier seasons, Jim was a really bad friend to Michael. He and Pam always played with his feelings and used him. But in the end, Jim and almost everyone else realizes how Michael was one of the best things that’s ever happened to them. Michael was annoying af most of the time and always messed around. But what can you expect from a man child who had a terrible childhood and just wants to fit in and have attention. Some of the workers would’ve been fired if anyone else was the boss seeing how some of them acted or the things they did. But they were lucky since Michael views them as friends and not coworkers. I’m glad Jim and Pam and some of the others realized how much they actually liked Michael. Especially how Jim tells Michael he was the best boss he ever had with red and almost teary eyes.
I never cried watching a tv show before.....
I connected to Michael on so many levels and watching him leave was the toughest moment
This episode made me want to cry really hard. It made me think about some of my goodbies, like the death of relatives, or some friends we never get to see and we never thought we would not see them again for our life changes.
Creed saying: see you tomorrow boss" is so ironic and so lifelike. We always say "see you tommorow" but is it really it? We just never know.
Those eyes are red from real tears. The only acting they had to do was say the lines, those emotions are genuine.
I rarely cry in movies/series but the last episode with michael destroyed me inside.
"See You Tomorrow for Lunch, Michael!" this scene is a tearjerker💔
This show still pulls at the few heartstrings I’ve managed to save.
I will keep on looking for a boss like you, Michael.
I’ve seen this part so many times . Why does this scene still make me cry?
Jim read it all on his face and gave him the goodbyes he really needed! This scene and Jim comforting Dwight in his moment of sorrow gets me every time!
Not only is impressive how Michael (who for most of the show, especially early on, wanted to have everyone's attention), wanted to leave as quiet as possible
but that he mostly kept it a secret, considering how badly he kept secrets in the show (saying them almost 5 seconds after being told about them)
They weren’t acting in this scene these were actual tears
I always like how Jim looks at the camera everytime he reacts to something
This was great. Jim always genuinely cared for and about Michael and would try his best to help him through his faux pas and other mistakes even after pranking him.
I have always considered myself to be dead inside when it came to movies, shows and games, but somehow The Office managed to break me multiple times and this scene was especially tear-jerking. Fascinating how a comedy show is able to do that.
Whos watching this in 2021 with tears in their eyes?
I will always love this show.. thanks for giving us all these memories and emotions!!!
It’s been confirmed that there tears were genuine which makes this scene for special
Girl at school: have you ever even experienced true sadness?!!?
Me:
Maybe I'm very emotional, but I cried for 40 minutes straight after watching this moment. This situation reminds me of how I'm struggling in my life, with no one to talk to and no one with whom I can express my thoughts. Thank you, Michael; after seeing this scenario, I cried my heart out and am now feeling much better.
Michaels recommendation letter and Jim’s goodbye scene left me in tears😪
Jim is so rarely serious and sincere with Michael and seeing his lean in when he says “absolutely not” is so powerful
Both of their acting is on point in this scene. It's just so amazing.
they did not play the role, it was real for them
I have watched reruns of The Office for years. Having retired this year, this episode really hit me hard when I watched it today again on TV.
The ad was playing and I already had tears in my eyes…
This is the scene I go to when I need a cry
You can tell by his reaction that ‘the best boss I ever had’ specifically was probably the best compliment Michael had ever received😢
But why did he not nod his head in accordance with his statement? He shook his head as if to say “no” maybe to be like “no you’re not leaving, this can’t be happening, also you are my best boss.”
My roommate is leaving tomorrow, this scene is how I feel. Gonna be real tough to hold back the feelings
No one can describe this scene with words..
Only with tears..
Crying again and again..
I still get so emotional by this..
Like they literally let him go when his character had just started to live his dreams😣 can't believe NBC took that from us!!
"You said you didn't have plans," - Michael
The fact that the emotions they both had were actually real makes this a thousand times better
The tears were real. John K. Had talked about it in interviews.
"Best boss I ever had"
That hits hard
I still cry every time I watch this. This was Steve's final scene, and the tears in both their eyes was genuine.
This scene definitely made me cry
I always loved the running theme that Jim was sort of always in Michaels corner and understood him really well- all through the series the two have a lot of little intimate moments where they talk, like on the booze cruise, when Jim was boss for a day, when Michael rebounded with the waitress, so many little moments like that, they had a very unique, close relationship on the show, and this final scene felt like a homage to Jim always understanding Michael and having a fondness for him, their last little scene like that together. Even in this episode the entire time you can see Jim realizing what Michael is doing, because he gets him, they’ve just always really gotten each other. I feel like no one talks a lot about their relationship, it was so charming and special.
I have seen every episode of that show i have watched it 9 times i know every line by heart and that part still makes me tear up 😭
Rewatching it over and over again before my last day at my current workplace and having total breakdown. That hits different… 😢
This scene is so emotional, I cry every time. It's ridiculous. Also Pam's scene with Michael at the airport 👏🏻
I have been watching this show in US, now I’m watching this show online, thank you for uploading this show online 🙏🇹🇭😍
I cry every fcking time I watch this scene, I can't help it it sums up so many personal moments of my life in just 2 min
Sebastian J. Yeah bro
Jim's face all puffed up looks like he cried his eyes off all night
“The words cut deep, deeper than any blade”
For the record "NBC" chose not to renew Mr. Carell's contract ending his 7 years with the Office.
- The show just wasn't the same without Carell lasting just two seasons.
Actually no it was Steve Carell that decided not to renew. He wanted to move on to other things.
@@mrlionX well Steve actually wanted to renew his contract , he even sent his manager to talk to the executives but the new NBC execs didn't want Steve anymore.
@@mrlionX No. Steve Carell wanted to renew his contract. NBC didn't care for him, at the time the head of the network changed, and he wasn't convinced by the Office.
This isn't a one-off for NBC, they are famous for their disastrous decisions. What they did to Conan O'Brien? Cancelling Star Trek? Cancelling Family Guy? Snubbing community? It's like they are actively trying to destroy every good show they have?
@@mrlionX Every article I've ever seen on this said that Carrell let NBC know he would do another couple of seasons and they chose not to renew him. The rest of the series was nothing like the first 7 seasons, especially all of the scenes with James Spader, the single worst casting decision in the show (though Will Ferrell was a close second).
@@jayseaborg3895 But why wouldn't they renew him? That just doesn't make any sense.
im not crying... YOU'RE CRYING
Seen the episode yesterday the first time. Man...I'm not gonna lie, I cried my eyes out. Funny, emotional and perfect in so many ways.
I'm crying watching this!! Aww, this is such a sweet moment
What I love about this is when Michael says “Am I doing the wrong thing?” you know that he’s not thinking about himself
He’s concerned for everyone else he’s leaving behind, because whilst he is egotistical, self-centred and often blind to his faults, he never wants to hurt anyone in that office because they are his family
Except for Toby, he wants to hurt Toby XD ;)
It's impossible to be a fan of this show and not tear up at this scene...Jim knows this is goodbye right here, right now...that's why he choked up when he said, "best boss I ever had."
Big fan of the show! I can say it’s the best show ever!
Just came here to cry. This one episode gets me everytime.
This scene when there crying those are real tears it was the last day of filming for the season and they'll never see each other after the office is finished
