He approves of the federal government conserving land, and treats those that work under him fairly and equally, rather than subjecting them to absolute anarchy as he would in previous seasons.
You have to love when you have just the right actor(s) and just the right writer(s), to be able to develop a character so well. Brooklyn 99 is another one with Captain Holts development over the series.
The fact that they came all the way to Scotland to film in front of the actual Lagavulin distillery is amazing dedication if you ask me; Most production companies would just throw up a mock set that looks like it

After this episode aired and the series ended I truly started to contemplate my life and as surprising as it is. I’m actually going into an internship at a National Park near where I live because of it. This episode truly inspired me. I know she isn’t real and I know I may not ever get to meet the actor who portrayed her in real life, but thank you Leslie Knope. Thanks for inspiring me to chase my dreams. UPDATE: I wasn’t eaten by a bear! Don’t worry! But the internship went really well and I found that I actually fit quite well in working the landscape of the National Parks Service! I’m graduating this year and I’m going into college as a biology major!

Ron's flash forward was the best part of the finale, and the most emotional one. It would have packed more of a punch in this clip if they included the end when Ron paddles in his canoe, smiling happily while "Buddy" played. His relationship with Leslie is the best part of the show and the ending reflects their absolute trust, devotion and understanding of each other. It was the perfect end for Ron, all because he reached out to his "workplace proximity acquaintance." The perfect moment to a perfect series finale.
Gotta love how Ron went from running the Pawnee rangers, the almost Boy Scout-esque troop back in Season 4 to running the Pawnee National Park Rangers at the end here. Talk about an arc.
Benjamin Midthun scene 1(family dinner): a very quiet intense dinner with ron and diane sitting on both heads of rons hand made dinning room table. The girls sitting next to each other and john sitting in on the other side of a self constructed wooden chair as he carves his steak. Scene 2: john sits on his self made rocking chair staring intensely at the camera as he pours a himself a glass of orange juice without losing contact. He then sips the juice as a baby wolf sits below his feat.
I already love this scene for so many reasons that most people here have pointed out, but 3:09 Leslie's delivery of "you'd work outside, you'd talk to bears, next argument" is just so cute to my ears.
Well, crying IS acceptable at funerals in the Swanson way of life, and this episode is kind of a funeral for the series, so i guess it would have been ok. ;-)

this little story line at the end of parks and rec is just the best... its the very fitting and peaceful, fullfilling ending to the character arc of such a unique guy. it somewhat makes me teary-eyed

This show absolutely rocks! The character arcs are perfect! It does something that few comedies ever do, it gets funnier and more heartfelt as it goes. This cast became a family, and you can feel that in every scene. Watch Parks and Recreation! You will not be disappointed!
Every episode of season 7 makes me cry. I can't help it. The friendships written in this show are so touching, and it's a beautiful journey seeing the way these characters have come to care for each other. This show makes me feel better about the world and more optimistic for the future.
It just hit me that in all the times I have binged watched this show (6 times and counting), I have subconsciously left the final episode unwatched. And to be honest, I believe I may forever leave it unwatched that way it continues on in my sleep-deprived mind.

The show gave Lagavulin great press over the years, though. I could see them being enthusiastic about the concept.
