Thanks for watching!
Man, it's nice to see Tosin just play some chilled out blues licks on a 6 string for once.
Call me old fashioned but for a super chops thump off, I’d honestly prefer watching Victor Wooten. Abasi is fantastic there’s no question about that! I just wonder about his gear & eq choices. I find the brilliance of his playing is lost to me when it’s delivered so abrasive and non-musical sonically, excessively scooped bright & sterile metallic digital tonalities..
@@JasonWright-mc6dzTosin got his techniques from evan brewer, who got it from victor wooten. So its kind of the same technique and principle for different instruments and music style
except tosin plays an instrument actually good for soloing unlike victor wooten lmao
@@ricksouza9299 You must have not heard even one solo performance of wooten to have said that...
the tonal difference made so much sense since its a different instrument. trying to make guitar sounds like bass doesn't make sense. he mostly play 8 string guitars, which naturally had more low end freq which is an annoyance if you play guitar, that's why he used to eq his tone that way@@JasonWright-mc6dz

Very underrated comment
lmao
Hilarious
My god, man... this must be what people felt like watching Clapton, Hendrix, and EVH for the first time back in the day. Your approach to the instrument boggles my mind!
Seriously, there aren't proper words to describe how good he is at playing guitar
@@BaldorfBreakdowns Like, even if people are not fans of this style, he can completely wreck in more conventional styles. What a player...
his 7 string slapping video from 11 years ago was the most jaw dropping thing ive ever seen
Bassists do this all the time
@@patientmental875 Oh yeah, you're right, I forgot. Been there, done that, nothing unique going on here. Move along folks, Tosin is just your average bassist playing guitar.
I feel like he could really tap into a niche here, bringing dnb heads & djent/prog enthusiasts together, a full album would be great.

A collaboration between Jojo Mayer and Abasi!
Thump into a niche you mean
He didn’t have to flex this hard
He kinda did tho
This flex matches the flex of his thumb 👍🏼
Yes he did lol
🤔😆
Dude is literally sleeping while playing this until the end. xD Man Tosin is the business.
Thump N' Bass needs to be a genre!

I have never felt better about giving a video a thumbs up

Bet it feels good being able to hear this kind of music in your head and being capable of making it reality.
Tosin reminding us he’s the god of thump after Tims recent stuff
Precisely
Tim?
Haha, I see your profile is the cover of NLND. Mine is Tim (with wings) from Unprocessed- Real.
@@narvizz87 Tim Henson from polyphia
Yeah, maybe on a technical level. I'm sure Tim would even agree with that, he did say he learned it from Tosin.
But, Tim incorporates the technique into something that actually sounds good and isn't just impressive.
Amazing, but something got me confused. What instrument is that? Definitely looks like a guitar, but it's missing some strings
It has 6. What guitars do you have? Lol.

The electronic elements on their first album were so cool, especially the track On Impulse!

You're Happy now? Answer: no
That subwoofer was the best addition to my living room ever.
We need to hear a DnB EP by Tosin Abasi holy hell
Tosin, you are a one of a kind musician. Your understanding of music and guitar will be unmatched for eternity.
Tosin: thumps
Camera: I don't have enough frames per second.
for real though! at first view I thought he was playing over a backing track. but nope.
@Ric Flair nah lol, his index and middle are doing some insane plucking after the thumb thumps
He's doing a type of tremolo picking that's common in classical/flamenco guitar, but on another level.
I thought it was a backing track too. But look closely you can see the D string vibrates.
New project for the slow mo guys phantom cam.
his thumb is as long as my middle finger. Who gave this man an unfair genetic advantage????
The more you practice growing up your fingers actually grow more to help you. My right hands fingers are a solid couple cm longer than my left myself
It's not about the size of your thumb, it's what you can do with it that matters
He has the thump gene
Look at jacos thumb its from 1000s of hours of playing
Jaco Pastorius’s had the same, descendants of gods I guess lol
This video proves that Tosin doesn’t need an 8 string to make beastly music: it’s just a tool that he uses to make music. He’ll make whatever guitar is in his hands play amazingly.
With each generation, the boundaries and possibilities of the guitar are pushed further. What a great era to be a musician.

Would love to see a Victor Wooten and Tosin Abasi collaboration.

I love how you're never satisfying and keep pushing and evolving already new concepts! Definitely one of the greats.
wow. Neuro as Leaders when?
Dude please 😍 more dnb metal. This shit is amazing
Ayyy never thought I'd see Seamless on a Tosin Abasi video
haha wow i didn't even make the connection but yeah this is straight up some aal neuro. always cool to see similarities between progressive electronic genres and progressive metal genres like that. i remember coming across a random comment from misha on an old Mr. Bill song, which was cool as fuck because he's a pretty prolific but relatively underground experimental glitch hop producer. totally different styles but still plenty of inspiration to be drawn.
I freaking knew i'd find you here
Hell yeah! They already dabble with IDM, some proper dnb is the next journey!
Tosin meets drum and bass was the crossover I didn't know i NEEDED.
I absolutely love the creativeness of guitar around those dnb tracks.
Bangin
I want more thumping in the new Animals as Leaders!!! You are the best
damn they already have a lot of thumping
@slowpoke not even close. More thumping. More strings. More BPM. More time signatures
Swarthy Giant 15 string larada when
I want LESS!!!
Swarthy Giant if music is just technical it isn’t good, if music is good and happens to be technical it’s good.
It might be years before people understand and appreciate his contributions to guitar playing.
Any one remember the sound, when PowerPuff Girls is flying to save Townsville from evildoers such as Mojo Jojo and the Gangreen Gang ?😅😂😂💥🎸💥💥
The world is so bless for having Tosin as a guitarist
1love from Nigeria🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬🎸🇳🇬🇳🇬🇳🇬
Holy shit, I remember XD
It’s the breakbeat 😜
Hahaha yes 😂 that's hilarious.
Are you related to tosin by any chance?
I can’t fucking breathe lol
the world isn't ready for this man
After I heard Tim Henson play "God Hand" I heard that it was actually Tosin who showed him the technique. I've of course already heard Tosin thumb before as the Woven Web was the first song of his that I'd heard but it's cool to see the technique applied on a 6 string as well with such speed and precision.
His playing is like a breath of fresh air , something completely different and new
No person could ever be this good. This is not a human being. I don't know why he came to our planet, but it's pretty cool that he did.
This actually blew my mind.
I beg you, keep making this DnB + guitar thing. You will write history
Can't wait for Tosin's next insane technique called Selective Fretting. Lol I kid of course. This shit is insane though.
He'll be playing a 9 string with his nostrils taking it to the next level.
I cant handle much more Abassi Innovations. Its getting harder to want to touch my guitar
You monster, Tosin. How do you fit so many fresh sounds and mind-blowing ideas in the space of less than a minute and a half?
Edit: That break at 0:47 with the electronics and that tapped phrygian dominant lick...
Charles covered this and it's awesome on BASS
That Reese/guitar call and response was so good
“Okay Tim since you stole my thumping I’m gonna steal your trap beats”
Lmao Tim has been thumping a lot lately. Guess Tosin's gotta start doing the trap beats.
Woah, your skills are absolutely breathtaking
sounds like a Animals As Leaders colab with Noisia
I would throw my entire bank account to buy a single track made by both.

I’d give more credit and say mob tactics
Anytime he creates something it's just a massive flex on everybody in the game
That mix of thumping and drum n' bass is just insane. The background track reminds me of Spor a lot, did you make it Tosin?
Wouldn't be surprised if he did, I definitely have some of the same samples from free drum n bass sample packs.
He is built for this. Tosin is a god. Love this guy!

I don’t like the physical pain I got from reading that
One of the sickest things I've ever heard. This would go great over some boss battle in a video game.

Damn man!you totally blow me away.Every time I watch you play I get goosebumps.Never stop playing.
I keep coming back to this video; the techno-industrial elements fused with this technique are just divine.
Legendary chops, very few artists leave me mesmerized and Tosin is part of that few.
Charles has a great taste of artists:)
The curve on his thumb is godly in itself.
I hope this will be a new AAL song!
Me too
@@DavidNwokoye me too
People ask me why I don’t play guitar normal lol this is why. Tosin, Henson etc. are revolutionary guitarists that keep the craft relevant
Sounds sci-fi/futuristic, cyberpunk without bugs and with a lot of accuracy.
One day when I create a RPG, I want this to be the battle music.
Life is an RPG. Start a fight with this in your earbuds.
Yo Tosin, you never cease to amaze and inspire me with your ingenuity.
You know how they say prog this prog that, f'that it 's Tosin style period \m/ !
Amazing technique aside... Did anyone noticed that this could definetely be the soundtrack of any kick ass action movie "early-plan-execution" scene, where characters are flawlessly doing everything they were set to do before things go wrong and there's a fight scene?
Ever watch the Powerpuff girls?

Also meticulously crafted compression/noise gating between the custom fishman pickups /Abasi concept pedals and his sexy ass clean amps
Because fret wraps are for chicks
Right hand precision, left-hand muting. Look at how he uses the whole of his hand
love those palm muted hammer-ons
played this at .75 speed to see what was even happening and it was like a normal AAL song... It makes me think that all along Tosin has been slowing himself down to make music that us mortals can understand
We need a full album of this! I need something to listen to while cruising through the alps in the lambo I'll never have.
