i love how tosin smiles in playthroughs and live cause he’s like “yeah this sounds so sick” but it’s also like “nobody is ever going to figure out how to play this”
@@Ant_FGC Super reliable. I waited forever to afford my (Epiphone) Les Paul. It was a dream to own one. I need the assurance this strap gives me that it wont pop. They lock niiiiiice and tight and pivot well. Honestly, its a good strap, just really plain.
This man put on the best concert I have ever been to a few nights ago. Went in with high expectations and they were still absolutely demolished nonetheless. Never seen a crowd that energized at show before.
It's hilarious, I was thinking "man, this might be one of the first AAL songs I could actually learn to play!" And then he put the pick in his mouth, and that was the end of that idea...
Even if most people aren't okay with Animals as Leaders taking the throne of Alien prog metalers away from Meshuggah, I for one welcome our new Djent overlords.
Tosin's efficiency of movement is as perfect as you can get. It almost doesn't look like his picking hand could possibly be attacking that many notes unless you pay close enough attention to notice his techniques. Just so fucking wild lol. His thumb has its own brain, I swear.
That mid tempo part was top notch man, who knew slower paced, heavier songs like that would suit your musicality that well (ok ok wave of babies gave us a strong glimpse). For the moment the new album seems very promising. You guys rock, hopefully you can tour again in the EU after the release.
Just found my new favorite guitar player. Incredible, he's like nothing I've ever heard before; So cutting-edge streamlined in his totally unique way - rips with the coolest sounds / effects.
When the breakdown started and Tosin was looking straight into the camera, I had goosebumps. It's so out of this world, you know that you cannot count all those time signatures and intervals, but you love it with all of your heart and mind. Cheers!
The idea of a guitar playthrough for a midi bass plugin seemed odd to me at first lol. But of course with the bass part in this song doubling a low-register 8-string guitar part like this, I can see now that this is an ideal demo for what the plugin is capable of and it’s application. It sounds incredible! Can’t wait to get this once I can afford to get a new computer and upgrade my home recording rig. And even more excited for the AAL album to drop!
The cheap ones from Agile are actually decent, although the prices on 8 string Ibanez have come down a bit. I would go straight for Tosin's beautiful Abasi Concepts stuff unless you really want to sink that much money into it.
@@nipulkradmsinatagras8293 6000$ is a bit much for me lol... mainly a bass player looking to have fun... m80m looks cool though but still a bit much...
Strandbergs feel amazing. The neck is great and its insane how light they are. I ended up returning mine though because of how much of a pain in the ass it was to tune the thing with the tuning pegs being on the bridge instead of the headstock. As great as it felt, simple quality of life stuff like that matters too
Lets all appreciate the sight and setting of this playthrough. Amazing sounds as always from Tosin. I love when he makes aggresive djent like this one.
"The cutting of the Gordian Knot is an Ancient Greek legend associated with Alexander the Great in Gordium in Phrygia . . ." The song is in the phrygian _mode_ "Alexander “untangled” the knot by slashing through it with his sword and went on to conquer Asia as far as India. This is the story of the Gordian Knot, and its moral is that sometimes the best answer to a complex problem is the simplest one.", thus the simplest and yet SICKEST chorus from AAL to this day. TO THIS DAY.
Glad you dig the bass thumps man! Makes me so happy we didn't skimp on getting all that nuance in there for everyone to use :) This playthrough is bonkers
Sounds crazy that's for sure , them pickups are just instanly full I like the idea of powered over the active or passive makes sense how he explained it
OMG THATS INCREDIBLE ANIMALS AS LEADERS FOREVER YEAAAH REALLY I LIKE ALL ALBUMS, MY MASTERS ON GUITAR, YEAH ITS THE SAME EMOTION WHEN I LISTEN FOR FIRST TIME WAVES OF BABIES AND SONG OF SOLOMON OR THE SOLO OF ON IMPULSE WOOOOOOW REALLY INCREDIBLE :D GREATINGS FROM MEXICO
With that thumb, I can help myself and make the connection, and see the long road between you, Tosin Abasi, and Wes Montgomery. What a musical journey!
Hello Tosin, absolutely great Composition and playing-Jimi would like it too, Holdsworth also. This is modern guitar! Ralph from Germany, 61 years old.
Just saw this video and remembered seeing Tosin play in like 2003 or 2004 in reflux at thee imperial in Jacksonville, FL. I used to have their album the illusion of democracy but it was lost years ago unfortunately.
Wonder if people talked smack about Tosin's bendy thumb when he was younger then he grew up and showed them all what they dissed was the blessing that would lead to him discovering his purpose. That's usually how it works, whatever people talked bad about or made fun of, ends up being our blessing to teach them their lesson. There is amazing artistry going on here that is just uniquely Tosin, not for anyone else.
I usually learn things from watching playthroughs but with Tosin it’s like watching guitar in another language
More like trying to read something written in an entirely different alphabet I would say.
I learn a bunch of stuff I don't know...and may never...
This is precisely the best way to put it. Absolutely 💯 🤣 This is guitar in fucking hieroglyphs.
I tell people I can speak German like a three year old. I feel like a three year old playing guitar watching him play lol

I'm laughing and crying at the same time....
only comment ive ever laughed out loud at lmao
They have the official tabs
I got unreasonably excited that we use the same cheap Ernie Ball strap. See? We're pretty much the same exact level players, Tosin and I.
Those straps really last forever though. I've had mine for like 10 years. Lol

Ive been using It backwards all my life
same here :D :D :D
I felt the same way when I realized that I too own a black, long sleeved crew-neck shirt, just like Tosin.
still can’t believe matt gave us only 3 seconds of a blast beat

Love how AAL is getting heavier this album :)
Tosin has a spicy clank tone to his shreds and we all appreciate it.
Clank tone, stank face
Love that texture

This is incredibly sinister and super funky at the same time. So cool.
Always a pleasure to watch the GOAT

HAHAHAH! Love the ode to the Haunted Shores playthrough. Always stare into the camera during chugs. 10/10
This is probably the djentiest track that AAL have put out in a while. Love both the track and Tosin's trousers.
Submission Audio - "how many articulations do you want?"
Tosin - "yes"

Amazing music as always.

Tosin is quickly becoming my favourite guitar player and biggest influence on my playing, even if I can't thump!
I was wating for this!
This is badass. Very inspiring song well made vid. And sweet guitar. Tosin is definitely most innovative guitarist today on many levels.
Cool. Tosin truly reinvented the way we look at guitar and how dynamic an instrument it is.
The scenery is fire along with the playing of course
It’s like he’s been to the depths of hell and came back an arch angel with those riffs lolz
Tone goals, hybrid picking goals, thumb picking goals... stank face goals. DAMN!

Its in 4/4 and 2/4
The rhythm has dotted notes. Thats how you get the syncopated, polyrhythmic sound.

Tosin's apartment looking like something from GTA. Especially the view.

Tosin has been still heard very unique to me since when i'd been enthusiasisting progressive/djent music as far as i know and can.
Just realising some of my earliest memories of watching UA-cam was AAL playthroughs.
I could not stumble upon such a beautiful work of art while stoned. I'm jamming the SHIT out of this!!! Absolutely amazing!
Everything sounds absolutely massive.
Tosin be like : playing guitar is a piece of cake. I'll do my hair like that to make looking to frets more challenging.
Thank you for sharing, I really appreciate it 👍
