Perazzi all the way when it comes to over and unders. The day I traded my 682 for an MX-12 my life changed, and well over 400,000 rounds later I'm still loving it. I like my Beretta 390 though ;)
Just received a Beretta 680 unsingle trap gun made in the early 1980's. This gun has had at least 40,000 rounds put thru it and still locks up tight and still functions flawlessly. The early 680 series guns were built like a tank. Not sure about newer ones.
My old BL-4 is the most comfortable shotgun I've ever shot. It's like it was made for me. Also an amazingly beautiful, well-made gun. Nothing lines up the barrels, with my eye as automatically as a Beretta O/U. :)
I just picked up a new Beretta 687 Silver Pigeon III, Sporting 12 gauge and i could not be more impressed. I need to wait 10 days in CA before I can take it out to shoot it, its going to be a long wait!!
The silver pigeon is a great all-around gun at a solid price. You might also want to shoulder the SV10 Perennia, to see how you like it. The advantage of the SV10 is that it has a recoil-reduction system and a quick stock adjustment feature, but it is a little higher in price.
I've owned and shot a Beretta 686 since 1998. I've shot more than 100,000 rounds; no gun related malfunctions. I also have a Beretta AL391 that I've shot more than 70,000 rounds; no gun related malfunctions.
687 with my father, maybe 150000+ rounds in 20 years, two lower barrel striker pin changes. it is my ...arm extension, even though it's my father's gun. between us, about 60+ national championship medals shot (only 10 mine)
So I'd say it kinda sucks, father bought this at a discount, cause the first owner had shot 200 shots, and was of the opinion that you can't hit anything with that.
The 391 and the Silver Pigeon are different animals. Any semiautomatic shotgun will have less recoil, since some of the recoil is used to cycle the rounds, and some more is absorbed by the bolt cycling. Over and unders will always have more recoil, but it's part of its appeal :) Here are dealers: LEGENDARY GUNS, INC. 5130 N. 19TH AVENUE SPORTSMAN'S WAREHOUSE 19205 N. 27th AVENUE SHOOTERS VAULT 3202 E. A beaver-tail fore-end is just the type of configuration you have: many of our models come with both types of fore-end configurations. I'm not familiar with what has been exported to the UK, unfortunately.
Any progress on my video request. I like to see how you would recommend taking off the stock and getting to the trigger mechanism as well as how to care for the ejectors and anything else that is beyond the simple cleaning. Also what time frame either measured in shells fired or in time when one should do a more in depth cleaning/ lubrication.
My loved my Beretta 686 20/28 combo until it fired both barrels simultaneously with 20 gauge 3" magnum heavyshot loads. Did this twice and not only broke my ring finger, but cracked the wrist of the gun as well. Still trying to get that repaired. Unable to get much help through the Dallas Gallery where I bought the gun. And call to Beretta USA about a replacement stock did not give me any confidence either.
I absolutly love the silver pigeon 1! I want to upgrade the stock to a much prettier wood grain and i want those external chokes- definetly a great value! I am curious as to how many rounds this gun can take before it needs any significant rebuilding. Ive heard its very stout!
I was told that today that the silver pigeon did have a big recoil something that the 391 does not do and I love that. I was trying to find we're I can look at one and feel it and possibly purchase it. M ay I ask if you have any dealers in the Phoenix area I can all thanks for your help much appreciated
Unfortunately, we cannot give estimates on the value, since so many things can influence the value of a firearm. My suggestion is to look at Blue Book of Firearms Value.
Thanks so much for your answer to my question. I felt I would never get to the bottom of this. Would this explain why it has a beaver tail fore end and not a schapble ( or what ever its called ) fore end. Im in.the UK market but was told it probably came from the Republic of Ireland. It Also has incredibly nice wood for this level of gun.
I shoot Clay, Trap and Skeet at Ben Avery in Arizona, they sold me on your 391 Beretta, love it and it performs flawlessly! I am looking for a over under as an average beginner shooter would you go with your silver pigeon or another model? Thanks
I've got a 680 I use for trap competition all over the country. Its the most reliable gun I've ever used. I had to shoot in a shoot-off last summer in 60 mile per hour winds with heavy rain. It was dreadful but I won so it's all good. Is it ok to dry-fire with the 680? We had a Beretta truck at my club (Silver Dollar Shooters Club in Odessa Florida) and he said the pins are thick so it's ok to dry-fire..
Bought my new 682 Gold E summer 2012 to start shooting and despite having box and instructions out...never saw the 1+2 card slotted inside the warranty plastic wallet! Guessing well over 30 days and too late to register for the extended warranty ?....surely this should be made more prominent as I am pretty annoyed to have missed it when have been extremely careful and have actually read the instructions....warranty isnt in here on mine !
L3tm30ut My sporting model does not have the reset safety like the field models. It also has 30 inch barrels. I sent the forearm off to change the ejectors to extractors only. Mine is the White Onyx Sporting. My son has the 28" Silver Pigeon I . Both are great O/U guns we use for trap.
Also I may add... I don’t see what at all was demonstrated or said in this video that sets it apart from all other over and under shotguns that sets it apart from the rest of berettas competitors?
the fact is that for anyone looking for a hunting over and under (vs competition shooting) you cant buy a decent new over and under for under 1,500. But in that range its still about fit, fit, fit. If you pick up a 1979 Ruger red label and it happens to fit you better - it is a better shotgun than a new 2 or 3k Berreta, or Browning. The real question is why isnt every shotgun in the 2K+ range have a stock custom shaped for each customer? Seems like Drop and pull could be a made-to-order feature with a CNC machine.
@SouthTexas Mike brownings are nice but i have both a browning citori and the silver pigeon and i can tell you without a doubt the beretta points better and is the softer shooter along with the amazing engraving
So why, if the 68X series uses the "strongest" locking system on the market, why does the DT10/11 use a different (greener) locking system and mono block?
And a better/bigger photos on their website. Those little photos of their rifles look like little brown sticks for sale between 8k & 2k dollars. I got a good look at a couple of them at my gun club.... nice shotguns.

I want a gun that I can shoot everything with, (tall order) clays, hunting, trap. With the number of gun makers clamoring for my business I can afford to be picky. A nice back bored gun, chrome lined barrels, cold drop forged steel for less than 2 K.

a few things. I think you guys need to redo this video in high def so the camera can really catch the scroll work and details of the gun.
4K please

Bought the 2017 one last month, loving it :D. A good starting point for sport shooting.
This would be absolutely fantastic! An in depth guide would definitely help someone like myself who ha just purchased a SP1 O/U.

this was in -94... i was 12. and yeah, it's still working perfectly. once per ~50000 shots you need a gunsmith.
Thank you for sharing the video and information. I look forward to checking Berretta at my local Bass Pro Shop/Springfield, MO.
What kind of toaster was used to film this?
Demiweeb 😂
Thanks to you, I was not able to view the rest of the video.
A #4 Potato
Oh wow, very original.
if the quality of the gun is like the video..
I love my 686E. It fires well consistently and accurately (allowing for my aim!!! Great brand for quality and reliability.

absolutely a superior O/U gun

Why does your silver pigeon break so smoothly when you open it? Both mine are very hard to open and make a loud noise when cocked??
My loved my Beretta 686 20/28 combo until it fired both barrels simultaneously with 20 gauge 3" magnum heavyshot loads. Did this twice and not only broke my ring finger, but cracked the wrist of the gun as well. Still trying to get that repaired. Unable to get much help through the Dallas Gallery where I bought the gun. And call to Beretta USA about a replacement stock did not give me any confidence either.
That's it ! I'm going to buy one on Monday ! But which barrel length? I've been told to stick with 30 inch
It uses MobilChoke system, which you can find on BerettaUSA . com
I'm not sure if Briley makes them.
I absolutly love the silver pigeon 1! I want to upgrade the stock to a much prettier wood grain and i want those external chokes- definetly a great value! I am curious as to how many rounds this gun can take before it needs any significant rebuilding. Ive heard its very stout!

Must say i like berettas but i LOVE brownings with backbored invector pro barrels which i currently shoot!

I think you've cot the barrel selector inverted. One dot is the bottom barrel, two is the top.
@vapors750 You're absolutely right! Good catch. We put Brian in "barrel selector jail" until the end of the month.
Beretta makes great guns but I love the browning citori's. Got a gran lightning myself.
Do you still have the original sales receipt?
Thks for sharing, when you mount the gun you press it with your shoulder?
Bought my new 682 Gold E summer 2012 to start shooting and despite having box and instructions out...never saw the 1+2 card slotted inside the warranty plastic wallet!

That's my club! PG Trap and Skeet. That's my gun! Great vid.
You can use Optima Chokes.
need help got a new 868 with no manual will call beretta can you tell me how to select the barrels with the 2 red dots thanks
A friend let me shoot his 20ga Silver Pigeon with European style stock. I hit every clay with that gun, something I've never done before.
Missed one other feature. If you only fire one shell and open the action, only the fired shell will be ejected.
I own this Beretta and its on Consignment at Kravitz in Delray Beach 10/20
Would Beretta please make a video on how best to clean and lube a Beretta over and under.
When will Beretta start putting out video in HD?
silver pigeon 2 is well presented in this video
Hello, I'm from Siberia for hunting in the forest in winter, which trunks are better than 710 or 760 ? Narrowing mobilchoke or optima-choke ?
ТОЗ-63 бм 16 калибр Лудшие... для зимная охота в леса
2 things , does the safety always engage after each break / reload ? Is that an inertia driven trigger system ?
You mean i have to fumble with the safety every time i reload? That's a deal breaker, no sale. Disrupts my shooting behavior for all my other guns!
L3tm30ut My sporting model does not have the reset safety like the field models. It also has 30 inch barrels. I sent the forearm off to change the ejectors to extractors only. Mine is the White Onyx Sporting. My son has the 28" Silver Pigeon I . Both are great O/U guns we use for trap.
not on a 687 Sporting atleast, it stays where it is.
Those who can’t adapt, die.
Nice video, I found some info here that I was looking for.
BUT COULDN'T YOU MAKE THE QUALITY BETTER?!
thanks from Istanbul.. good video..
Which 30 day limit?
Well thankyou anyway. Are you Brian from the video?
so i can use the extended optima chokes. i wasnt completely sure if i could.
I believe two red dots will fire the top barrel first?
That's correct. I always like to think of the phrase "Two is higher than one." so... two dots fire the higher barrel.
that's the way mine fires, awesome clay buster!
Also I may add... I don’t see what at all was demonstrated or said in this video that sets it apart from all other over and under shotguns that sets it apart from the rest of berettas competitors?

What kind of chokes are they does Briley make chokes for this shot gun?
Is the 30 day limit only on berettas or stoegers too?
isnt there a registration period for qualifying your o/u for its warranty?
@SouthTexas Mike brownings are nice but i have both a browning citori and the silver pigeon and i can tell you without a doubt the beretta points better and is the softer shooter along with the amazing engraving
could i use Beretta Choke Tube OptimaChoke Victory Extended Ported 12GA with my silver pigeon I? if not are there any extended chokes for it?
The 30-day deadline applies to all of our firearms, yes.
Is it really the best?
what about my franchi falconet? i cant find the serial number at all
Is there a difference between this gun and a 686e sporting? They look the same to me.
I do not notice the presence of sling.
is is that the sling comes with the gun or not?
Since the sling is a highly-personal preference, our over and unders do not come with a sling.
Beretta est se que le grenadière est livré avec le fusil ou non ?
ce le deux tétons pour la fixation de bretelle
So why, if the 68X series uses the "strongest" locking system on the market, why does the DT10/11 use a different (greener) locking system and mono block?
Mark, search for powerfactorshow on the web. They did a complete tear down of a Beretta 686 and detailed how to clean it.
thank you for the help
I thought this guy worked for Remington. He's in a few videos about the versa max
And a better/bigger photos on their website. Those little photos of their rifles look like little brown sticks for sale between 8k & 2k dollars. I got a good look at a couple of them at my gun club.... nice shotguns.

Hi sir whats is the current price and do you an option to ship to pakistan also plz give me price for 828
Can anyone tell me the difference between a 686e and an s686e which I have. No one seems to know.
I was gonna say "two-is-top" is how I remember mine and I thought "Did it change?"
what abaut SV10 perenia peretta???????
There is no difference. The "S" denomination in front of the 680-series (686, 687, etc.) is sometimes used in Europe. "S" stands for "sovrapposto" (over and under, in Italian)
I just brought one today
I have a beretta s686 ducks unlimited snow goose model, unfired,
can you shoot steel shot in this gun, have had for 20 years, keith jane,
what is the difference between 686 silver pidon for hunting or sporting, because all of them they're written on in under tigers only silver pigon 1 it's doesn't say sporting

Browning 525 is the best in class.
Some pretty bold claims there.
$2000 for SP1 Sporting or $1200 for Ruger Red Label?
+massey3129 There are some substantial differences, both mechanically and in manufacturing. The most substantial is the fact that Beretta Over and Unders have receivers made from a solid, machined piece of metal, and not from casting. Casting is a much cheaper but also much less-resistant process. The barrels are chrome-lined, also a much more expensive process, which ensures durability. Also: the barrels are cold-hammer forged and not broached. This costly process takes much longer to complete, but ensures flexibility of the barrel when it fires a round, which in turn ensures the consistency of patterning and direction of the shot that's fired. This is why Beretta is the most successful over and under among professional shooters.
+Beretta Many thanks for the thorough response. I went through 4 boxes of shells with a friend's Beretta 20 ga O/U yesterday. Pretty sold on it. Going to buy it from him and buy a new 12ga SP 1 Sporting.
red label is an awesome gun!!!! not saying the beretta isnt.
What you described also exist on Baikal shotguns, such as my MP27, it cost about 500$.....
I want a gun that I can shoot everything with, (tall order) clays, hunting, trap. With the number of gun makers clamoring for my business I can afford to be picky. A nice back bored gun, chrome lined barrels, cold drop forged steel for less than 2 K.
At my home range! Pg trap and skeet!
Our field OUs have automatic safeties. Our clay OUs do not.
If you buy a beretta, you’ll wish you’d bought better. Get a browning ;)
I would argue that the browning locking system is by far, more sturdy and robust than the two small pins that lock this beretta surely? Also with browning having a full cross pin to attach the barrels rather than studs in the beretta? Surely you cannot claim the beretta locking system is the strongest?!
Looks like fun
I don't like how the safety automatically ingauges after you shut the barrel...
We all know brownings are just as good if not better.
are they as pretty and have as long history?
hey dudely ...are you an idiot making an idiotic comment ? answer is yes you are
247DUDELY browning invented the o/u
every under over is just like this
literallu about to go to pg county range with my silver pigeon
Our over and under shotguns are cast off
I think Beretta can do better than a 3 year warranty.
I just got a s687 silver pigeon in a trade for a mak-90 :)
The best over under y'all apparently have never heard of a browning citori
I have. I now own a 680 and sold the citori And i did not start shooting last month
a few things. Browning has stronger locking mechanism with full width lock & hinge pin giving stronger gun, it is bigger and heavier, "Perfect alignment every time with no adjustment needed", this cannot be said as no one can make one gun to fit everyone unless it has multiple adjustments on the stock etc. both are great gun makers.
