What an impressive museum! Together Mary Martin and Larry Hagman contributed to so much to both theatre and television in the 20th century. A great biography and memorial to both mother and son - thank you so much Jordan.
Ah just Loved Dallas back then, lost it a bit when Bobby walked out of the shower 🤣 but there you are have a nice day friend and keep um comin and keep um comin !!!. Brian UK !!!. RIP Larry and All. 🤠🤠❤ Thank's for the share.
Liked seeing Larry Hagman in I Dream of Jeannie and as JR in Dallas. Beautifully done museum and statues as well. Thank you Jordan for honoring both Mary Martin and Larry Hagman together❣ Mary’s needlepoint work is quite a work of art as well. 👍Rip to both. 🙏❤💐🌟
That was sad to hear that her dance studio was burned down, especially by a religious group. I remember seeing her in Peter Pan on our black & white TV when I was a young kid. Talented lady.
When I was little I love watching Mary Martin Peter Pan play on VHS, and of course to this day I enjoy watching I Dream Of Jeannie with Larry Hagman in the series. Thankyou Jordan for sharing your videos. Always fun to watch and learn. 🙂
That was great, I have your trip to Southfork saved & enjoy rewatching it often. My husband & I made the trip & tour before he passed. Thank you so much Jordan.
It wasn't that long ago that Larry Hagman, Barbara Eden, and Bill all came to Australia to do a commemorative tour for I Dream of Jeanie. I think 2011 interview. Brought a lot of pleasure to millions.
My Dad and my aunt grew up in Weatherford and my aunt was in Larry’s class. He used to give rides home to my aunt and her friends in an old jeep . They knew Mary Martin.
In the late 90's my sister rented a small house at the top of a mountain in Ojai ca. next door There was a big, beautiful home where Larry Hagman lived. One day my sister got a call from Larry letting her know he had her 2 Basset hound dogs that had gotten out of her yard, and she could pick them up at Larry's place. The dogs had her phone no. on their collar.
Mary Martin was the epitome of genuine and gracious. She made you feel even from the stage that as much as you loved her, she loved you more. I met her, too, and have a couple of treasured notes from her. I miss her daily. She WAS and remains a real legend.
My son would watch the VHS tape of her playing Peter Pan over and over for years. He started watching it on PBS at about 10 months old and we had to buy the tape for him to watch. He has been a huge fan of musicals since. I never realized he became a fan about the time she passed in 1990. Life is strange that way.
I like Dallas I would watch it every week. Larry Hagman played JR Ewing very well. I even watched the reboot of Dallas on TBS. Nice exhibit in the museum of Mary martin.good vlog jordan
After my dad passed I was my mom's Turtle Creek Dallas Theater buddy. Saw Mary Martin numerous times in Dallas. I was always amazed that she was Peter Pan.
Very interesting video. It's nice when famous and successful stars remember where they came from and then are laid to rest there after they have passed.
Whoa! you were in my neck of the woods! I grew up in the area and lived in Weatherford before moving to Fort Worth. I still have family outside of there.Never met Mary or Larry, but her funeral was held at my old parish church
Thank you for this tour !!! I loved Dallas on tv. I seen Peter Pan a real long time ago. I actually fell asleep on the Who shot JR episode lol. I had to call my mom to see who did it lol
Omg!!! I live in Weatherford! I love love your videos! I would have loved to meet you ! I have been watching your videos for years! I have learned so much from you! And Jah....he is the cutest!!!! If you are ever in this area again I would love to meet you !!!!!
Great video…. I was young when Dallas was aired you inspired me to go back and watching the entire series. Thank you for the information. Great video. PS I was around eight or nine and my grandparents got me rocking horse. I was rocking on that horse and they were asking me what I was going to name it. Just about that moment in the background, I heard the theme for Dallas and so that’s what the name became for the horse Dallas! For being young I couldn’t watch the show nor was I interested but now as an adult the theme song brings back memories and I figured it’s time to watch the series in full.❤
😊 This was so amazing and very interesting plus awesome to learn plus I enjoyed watching Larry on Dallas and I think 🤔 I saw Mary doing Peter Pan on tv but I can't remember thanks for sharing these Jordan keep up the awesome work my friend.
JR Ewing the greatest tv character ever created. No one but Larry Hagman could have brought him to life the way he did. He’d also eat Logan Roy for breakfast lol.
I Dream of Jeannie is one of my all time favorite shows. Larry was so good doing the physical gags on it. It's a shame he was such a pain in the rear to work with on that show.
If I am not mistaken, in that same cemetery are buried Oliver Loving, (1813-1867) dean of Texas cattle trails, and Bose Ikard, (1859-1928) whose life stories formed the inspiration for "Lonesome Dove".
Dang, Jordan, I'm just a few mile east of Dallas! I will have to go over and check out their resting places. Thanks for this post, I'm always interested in hearing about Mary Martin. I loved Larry Hagman in I dream of Jeanie.
Also may I add to Daze excellent work here that there is a YT vid of Miss Mary's appearance on Murrow's PERSOB TO PERSON in the mid 1950s where she shows a sample of her knitting , plays a dew notes on her moms violin and briefly talks about her future Peter Pan project .
That was a great video, Jordan. I enjoyed seeing everything. I didn't know they had fake headstones at Southfork, still. And that Larry Hagman's ashes are scattered over JR'S fake grave. He WAS JR, so he might as well have been there. 😂
I don't know how many other sites you're going to see in Texas , but I would like to make a recommendation . In Carthage , which is in east Texas , country & pop music singer Jim Reeves is buried there and grew up in that area . Last I heard there's a statue of him close to where he's buried. There's supposed to be a museum somewhere but I don't know if it's there or in Nashville ? His widow kept everything going regarding his legacy for many years until she passed away , so hopefully that statue and memorial is still there if you want to check it out . I would like to see a video of it just to see if it's still there . Unless I am mistaken , I think the Texas Music Hall of Fame is in Carthage also .
From my research of surname origins, Juanita Pressley Martin (Larry's Grandmother) is a descendent of Samson de Presteleia in the Pipe Rolls of Bedfordshire in 1198 AD. Samson de Presteleia surname evolved into the following surnames: Prisley, Presslee, Pressly, Presslie, Priestley, and Presley. This means Larry and his mother are related to Jason Priestley, Jamie Pressly, and Elvis.
I had the pleasure of seeing Mary Martin with Carol Channing performing in the play "Legends" in Seattle in the 80s (I was a greenhouse worker in my early 20s who enjoyed theater). They played two faded stars who tried to set aside their rivalry for a last chance comeback show. I've seen Mary Martin and Carol Channing fight on stage in their underwear- have you?
Those Mary Martin legs ! Miss Martin had a complicated relationship personally but she cheered his show business success with son Larry Hagman . Heller Halliday , Miss Mary's look a like daughter by Richard Holiday was performer in a couple of her moms productions , Another pregnancy with Holliday ended in a tragic incident . Lawyer Hagman Larry's father had another child , i think a boy later with another woman .
My grandfather lived in Weatherford in 1935-1936, and knew Mary Martin & Larry Hagman. His best friend’s girlfriend was taking dance classes from MM. One night she gave the 3 youths, (15 to 16 year olds) a ride home from the dance school. Mary dropped off the girl, before dropping off the boys. When dropping off the boys, she wouldn’t let the boys out of the car, until they both gave her a kiss. I get the idea, MM was fun, theatrical young woman.

Thank you Mary Martin for giving us LARRY HAGMAN if it was not for you we would not have I dream of Jeannie or Dallas

I knew Mary was Larry's mom. I hope they both rest in peace. Thank you for telling their stories. Take care.
I met Mary Martin back in the early 1980's and got her autograph!! She was so gracious!!!

Yes, this is correct

I was lucky. I saw Mary Martin on Broadway in The Sound of Music and in I Do! I Do!
She had Larry at 17... so young (not back then).. and was involved in an awful car crash in San Francisco.. Janet Gaynor died from her injuries
Great story Jordan,~~~~Sherry
Wonderful vlog ! ♥️
Kind regards From Perth, Western Australia 🇦🇺

Great
Hello was in Orleans as a judge
He was a great, actor. Who can go from broad physical comedy in I Dream of Jeannie to a serious character like JR. Mary Martin was a,huge star too.

I used to sometimes play golf with his brother who was an attorney in town that went to prison for embezzlement.
Those Mary Martin legs ! Miss Martin had a complicated relationship personally but she cheered his show business success with son Larry Hagman . Mary Martin's daughter, Larry Hagman's younger half sister, was named Heller Holliday
Halliday.
Good ol J R Ewing!
My grandfather lived in Weatherford in 1935-1936, and knew Mary Martin & Larry Hagman. His best friend’s girlfriend was taking dance classes from MM.
