What a life he had growing up. Wow! So glad he became an actor. You are so right about his demeanor. Always gracious, kind & funny.
Such a great body of work he was able to do. There is no one like him today. Thank you so much for sharing his story.
Thanks 😊 Jordan. I've never seen anyone show this stuff before. Good to see Dick's childhood home before it's probably knocked down. 🎉
I learned so much about him. Glad you were able to go to his childhood home before it's demolished.
Jordan always brings fresh and interesting content! Great work…..
My older sister moved to Danville and I have great memories of Danville in the late 60's and 70's....home of Chuckles jelly candies.
I was thinking that too, that the house would make a pretty cool museum. With all the other celebrity tie-ins in the town, I'm sure it'd be a success.
That’s how it was in those days, my dad is 96 and will 97 in December and all the family lived close to one another ❤
I really hope DVD himself sees this video. He would really love it
I hope so too.. there is a slim chance we will be at the same event in october.. i highly recommend his audio book. Hearing him read it himself is very entertaining
Such a shame that his house was not preserved to interpret his amazing life. Thanks for doing what you could to bring it all to us. Your vlogs are amazing!!!
@ck4426 The area would not support it. Most of the homes in that neighborhood are slums; literally. Danville has a rich history, but has gone down hill considerably today.
@@billa1870 That’s really sad that the city does not realize the treasure they have.
There has been a committee that has spent decades trying to fix this house up. They could not get either one of the brothers to help out with the expense.
@@JMelissaMc The neighborhood is very bad. They would have to have 24 hour security and some one would have to live there. 99% of the homes around there are dilapidated. It is one of the worst parts of Danville.
Oh Jordan, that was great, I've enjoyed your last few videos with Katie, but this was special! Thanks so much!
Great video Jordan. He was a big part of my childhood with his Disney movies and tv show.
Love this ❤Thank you Jordan!
Thank you for another interesting vlog, Jordan❣️
That was great. How entertaining and educational. You have taken biography to a new level art form.
Why hasn't this house been made a tourist attraction? Anywhere else this would have become a museum, even dismantling and moving it to an area where it would have been appreciated.
He had a charisma that you could never fake ❤️
What a great story!!! Thank you so much for sharing. I hope he gets to see this!
Thanks for showing this. It’s sad that no one has stepped up to fix it up and turn it into a museum or visitor center. Of course, if it’s not in the best neighborhood that may explain why.
Also worth noting, the Fischer theatre, prior to its restoration, served as “museum” commemorating the stars seen on the mural next door.
Loved this, well done. Did not know any of this, again thanks for your hard work for this, not just talking about but all the research that goes into these
Great video, thank you for sharing it with us.
Thank you for the video! It was great! I live about 70 miles south of there!
Great episode Jordan 👍 Another great history lesson
So glad you’re showing things no one shows! Baby Boomers like me enjoy it. It’s our era! Thank you.
This was fun Jordan !! I enjoyed this Vlog very much was very interesting like you said too bad they could not of have turned his & brothers childhood home into a museum. We are still very lucky to have him with us. Safe Travels Jordan & Jah , Dakota sends her love 💕 to Jah 🐶🐾From Colorado. You,Katie & Jah Stay Blessed.
Great video Jordan! Thank You!
✨Thank you Jordan! Love him and so happy he is still around. Great vlog! ~Love&Light♥️C.
My grandma born 1923 at 4 1/5 went with her dad to sell War cries she would go down one side and her dad the other side. It was an every different place and time back then!
I just wish you could have gone into DHS, we have several mementos from the both of them! The Gilbert St McDonald's is in honor of the "Hometown Hero's"! Their parents are buried at Sunset Cemetery on the North side of town. There are many other markers and honors bestowed upon the both of them that are located all throughout town. The Fischer Theater has been completely restored on the inside to it's original format. It is simply AMAZING!!!!! Maybe someday you could make another trip and go inside to explore! Thank you for the video! I am an avid viewer of yours and this one took me by surprise!
It was sunday. It was closed. Ill come back some time and try to see some more! Id love to see more
I just remembered one of his made for tv movies called The Morning After, 1974. He played an alcoholic and I will never forget that movie, it certainly left an impression on me at 10 years old. It's really hard to find a copy of that movie, but I bought one some years ago, it's not very clear. Going to re-watch it again.
I met him years ago and he WAS the nicest guy !
really cool , love seeing the old houses of stars , actors , musicians
Huge fan of his, this was interesting and awesome to see!
My 7-8th. grade English teacher claimed to have been neighbors of them growing up...I wonder if that was the home...Roanne Blakney was her name and she recently passed.I remember her bringing in a Christmas card from one of them once...😢
Love this channel u are the best love ur dog too be safe 😊
Sad to see the condition of his house. Guess he moved on and never thought of it again. I love him. He's a funny man. Thanks for telling his story. You and Katie take care.
Thank you for sharing Jordan
I loved Jerry as Luther. I never was a big fan of his brother but knew he was a talented actor and a all out good guy..Great video...very informative..
Jerry was hilarious on Coach.. i get the impression he was a lot like the character.. sounded very quick-witted
Jerry played the lead in Angel in my pocket
I live in Danville! How'd I miss this?? I could have shown you a few things 😊
I have been to Danville but it's been years. Where I currently work has an office in Danville and from what I hear the town is pretty poor and has a lot of crime.
Jordon, You Are Always Out Doing yourself. Thank You dj discoworm
Dont forget the detective series he did with his son where he played a doctor. His son was the detective. Even did a spot with Andy Griffith who was an attorny.
Excellent Video!! Thank You Jordan!!
danville is not a nice town anymore it has gone down hill for decades it has a lot of crime and deaths becareful there
I could tell... i saw someone that looked like they were from a george romero movie nodding out on a sidewalk.. it was sad.. the neighbors saw me filming, and walked over, so i explained what i was doing, and they were very nice.
So sad.
Wonderful video!!!! Love him!
Nice video. Glad to have the intro back
Hey Jordan, great video! It was awesome to see the house. I hope they restore it! We live only 15 miles east of Danville. It use to be a nice town with booming businesses. sad now. The Fischer theatre is beautiful and I have been there for a concert, I am so thankful they brought it back to life! Where did you stay while there? Did you go to the new casino? Always look forward to a new video.
I didnt stay.. i mainly jist looked around for two hours, then continued my drive home..
Thank you for the great day 😀 stay safe be careful God bless
Diagnosis Murder....GREAT SHOW!! Everything he did was Class
Mr.Van Dykehad test anxiety. It can happen!!
Isn't it amazing that he is 99. I love his Disney movies and his show. Such a great man. Thanks Jordan. Jah looks so cute sleeping. That's nice that you can take him with you. I know he's a lot of company. God Bless. Take care.
Great video! Its a shame how it fell into such disrepair. The town is full of abandoned homes..My wife's grandmother grew up across the street from him. She told us a lot of stories of them playing on that very porch. Danville is actually rich in history
Southern Illinois, what a beautiful place to live
Enjoyed the video Jordan as always keep up the great work
Enjoyed this video😃
I worked in Danville years ago. A lady coworker went to high school with him. She had some funny stories about him.
Love this vlog! Love DVD!!! Didn't know any of this, his background, history, and he's always been so interesting to me, every since my dad took us to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Drive Inn when I was a kid! ;) Ty awesome!!
This is so fascinating and sad at the same time. It would be nice to preserve these structures for posterity. On a related note, Lillian Gish’s childhood home (built circa 1900) is still standing at 621 Linden Ave. in Springfield Ohio but it also looks a little worse for wear. If people only knew what these walls were witnesses to.
I vlogged lillian gish's home in springfield
@@DazewithJordantheLion Great! I’ll look the video up; didn’t see it.
@@DazewithJordantheLion I have to take that back; I am so absent minded. I did see that great vlog in your old hometown! That was an awesome trip.
That was enjoyable! What a life! I think happiness is contagious. He has a naturally happy outlook on life that's for sure 😊
I had NO idea Gene Hackman is from Danville too, that was a surprise! Too bad they didn't turn his childhood home into a museum like they did with Lucille Balls childhood home
Yeqh, dick said he was a friend of gene's older brother
Great research Jordan! I love DVD.
Grey vlog, ty for all the info on DVD, what an interesting life, great comedian 😎
Do you remember where the street sign is honoring him. We are headed there tomorrow.
The Fischer Theater where he worked has been wonderfully restored.
That's wonderful to hear! I spent many a days at the Fischer. Lived in the Plaza Hotel with my Granny and Grandpa back in the 60's before they tore it down. Worked at the Brown Derby Restaurant for about a week till they found out I was underaged and had to let me go, told me to come back when I was 18 but they tore it down too 😢
@@sharilarson6635 Did you know a waitress named Vi?
@@michealgreenburg2647 sorry I was 15 years old and now I'm 68. Don't even remember who managed it then. Do remember Jean who ran the bar at the Plaza and Walter who let me run the elevator sometimes when nobody was looking 😁
Also went to Southview Jr High in about 72- 73 . Mr. Bo,Mr. Hoffman. Yep I'm sure old😳🤣
Thanks Jordan
Great job, Jordan. 👏👏👏
The fischer theater was run down. Around 2000? They all came back to danville to start the renovation of fischer theater. The inside of the theater is beautiful. They have great venues.
Thank you Jordan! I love following you on your adventures.
Great video. My Mom grew up in a neighborhood just like his with all her Family living close by
Cool video, I didnt know this abt Dvd! ❤❤❤❤ you rock!!!❤❤❤❤
Hilarious excerpt from the biography of Dustin Hoffman: he just couldn’t stop talking as a kid so chatty I don’t remember all the details but :
“for the first five years of my life I thought my name was shut up ! ”
oh wow you went by my area to head to Danville! Welcome
This is a great video!
He was in Disney Movies I luv!❤ shame about the House falling apart. Good video
I wish some of the towns i lived in had trollleys, though i could catch the cta in Wilmette
Love you channel. God bless you both
Yes he is a likable guy I liked him as a kid too
Awesome thanks for sharing!!✌️🇺🇲
Thanks for sharing me around at Dick’s childhood home ❤❤
He played a killer in an episode of Columbo. Great episode!
❤❤❤❤SUCH A WONDERFUL VIDEO 🎉🎉🎉 I LOVED HIM TO!!
A national treasure, and so is the house, love this man. Shout out to Monicals Pizza.
Your not far from me, iam in Normal, IL. I didn’t know he was from Danville. Wow
You should buy that Jordan and fix it up ! Thanks for your videos good man !
i wonder what year that house was built , i bet around 1908
Another great video. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Very interesting Jordan.....thanks.
Jerry died in 2018 cause of heart failure at his ranch in hot springs Arkansas
He was a real character.. one story i forgot to tell here was that jerry became a really bad sleepwalker.. dick said he would find him walking all over the house in the middle of the night. One time, he walked three miles down the road dick said.. crazy! He also said his dad told him later " i really never thought youd amount to much of anything"
nice video.
Good morning 🌞
I saw/saved a great picture of Shelley Winters. I'd love to send it to you but I'm not on other social media. Anyway.
Shellley Winters was asked to Audition for a project. & also asked to bring her resume and headshot.
Shelley arrived to her Audition carrying a HUGE carpetbag. When asked for her headshot & resume.
She opened the bag and took out her 1st Academy Award and said "Here's my photo" then took out her Second Oscar and said "Here's my Fn resume"
That story made me smile 😃
I hope it makes you smile also.
Wow ! His parents were whacko !
lol! Said his mom was absentminded, then admitted that he kept forgetting to do his laundry! Apple didn’t fall far!
@@nancyanne1402 I wonder if she ended up with dementia?I just Googled the family. Her name was Hazel McCord and her hubby was Loren ( called Cookie ).
I’m very saddened to see that the town is apparently showing no interest in doing something historical with this home. 😢
Great one! And keep wearing that Cubs hat!
My father grew up in the same town😊
I wish id have known you were coming here. I could have met Jaw. Lol. Love you guys.
My mom went to school with him. Danville went downhill. Gene hackman and Bobby short and Donald conner was from here also. Always loved him. Thx for vid.
I've been to and through Danville many times starting in 1973 when I was invited to a friend's home there. Statistics show that Danville was at its second peak around that time. (The first peak was during the coal mining and railroad days.) Danville started to go down hill around the early to mid 70s. They have tried to revive the downtown area, but Danville pretty much is an undesirable city in which to live today. Property is cheap, but crime and poverty are high. A casino to the east of Danville didn't do much for the city at all. The mall is vacant, as are many of the businesses today. There is nothing and no one to support the city's economy.
I lived on a brick street in Wilmette for three years
The Lincoln painting kind of looks like Bill Murray 😆
Wow. Who knew DVD had hands off parents? Ya just never know about people’s upbringing.
Babysitting 101: sit on a crate with an axe!! 😅
Thanks for the video it was great.
