Have a SVTF I'm in the midst of bringing back to life and was wondering what an under body restoration on a MK1 Focus would look like. I appreciate you sharing your efforts. Inspires me and helps visualize how I should proceed with my restoration. I wish you the best on your ongoing journey to bringing this gem back to glory.
Thanks for watching! Its a lot of work but very enjoyable to see bits of the car going back together. They’re lovely cars well worth saving! All the best with your project 👍
I’ve just bought a st170 in magnum grey, can’t wait to get it in the garage and start work on it I’m going to do the same will be a nice little project look forward to the next video great job👍
Thanks! More to come in the spring when it warms up a bit. Was checking out your vids on the clutch and cambelt etc - nice work! I’ve still got all that fun to look forward to 😆
Hi these were blasted, zinc treated and powder coated by GSL Powder Coating in Ingatestone, Essex. Similar sort of price to fitting non genuine new units. Price will likely vary a bit depending on how busy they are. I wanted to keep the originals on with the Ford markings & part numbers
Essex - gets pretty bad in the UK especially for older stuff that was in daily use all winter etc. The road salt gets to everything 😫 Summer miles only from now on!
@@st170restoration I have 2 of the US version. I live on the bay in Houston Texas so we get alot of surface rust. Main issues I have found in the engine department: Vacuum leaks are the biggest issue. Intake gaskets between the head and the lower intake, the black plastic vacuum lines, the pcv hose and baffle. Pcv elbow. Additionally, the intake manifold being plastic, warp from the heat. I remove the intake and file flat the throttle body mounting boss and the iac boss. New gaskets for the iac, TB, intake manifold, pcv hose, elbow and the valve in addition to replacing the vacuum lines to the purge valve solenoid, frps, fuel rail damper, costs less than $50. Labor mostly. Lol. Why no one wants to do it.
@@dennisthemenace49 same sort of stuff here especially crispy vacuum lines! It’s mostly age and heat related problems for the lines etc but like you say they’re pretty easy to fix. I’ve found though Ford UK are charging an absolute fortune for parts. How do you find it in the US?
@@st170restoration I make my own lines. Save the elbows. Buy 1.5mm id rubber vacuum hose. Use vacuum connectors to connect to the elbows and hose. Fuel pump is discontinued so I use a TRE 255lph pump and reuse the old pump housing. Engine mounts. VibraTechnics street.

How much did it cost you to restore the subframes.
What company did the work for you.
Keep up the good work.

At what torque does the Haynes manual recommends to tighten the lug nuts on the wheels for alloy rims?
Thanks!
Hi Haynes doesn’t say for the ST170 wheels but the standard Focus petrol road wheel nuts are listed as 85 Nm
Why is it so rusty. Where are you located?

I can buy all of the gaskets from Rockauto for less than $50. Fuel pump from TRE is $75.
