Jean Grey of all people barging into someone's home and accusing them of having a inner demon that needs to be destroyed is one of the biggest bruh moments ever.

I love it when a match can be between beings of similar power levels with common themes and struggles, and still one can simply sum it up as something like “shadow bird fights flame bird let’s goooooo!”

Except, Phoenix can't die. The whole Omiverse is connected to her and one time, Galactus tried do erase A SINGLE fragmet of Phoenix and ALL of the universe started dying as a result. He gave up destroying her so reality could survive. The funny thing is, Phoenix didn't even tried to resist because she knew the consequences and knew Galactus would back down.
Again, all of that was just a tiny fragment of the Phoenix Force. Can you imagine the kind of damage killing the entirety of Phoenix could do?

The music was absolutely on point. Matched the tone and rhythms of the most noteworthy eras of both characters, with nods to both individual themes, while still sounding cohesive and modern. Truly a great composition.

Raven will always be my favorite DC character. I remember as a kid watching Teen Titans and her summoning of Trigon: "The gem was born of evil's fire, the gem shall be his portal. He comes the slay, he comes the sire. The end of all things mortal." As an adult her words still gives me chills.
I find myself a Marvel comic reader, but i was hoping Raven would win because of Teen Titan Raven. I just love that show. 😂

They missed a good chunk of demonstrated feats of the Phoenix Force. I mean yeah better than the movies, but that's a really low bar.
It did not cause Raven definitely does not scale to Phoenix in no capacity and they miss huge chunks of Phoenix powers.

I don't know about "mega stomp". Yes, Raven destroyed all of creation, as the Unkindness, but as the video said, the Phoenix held back the destruction of all creation, too. And, the Phoenix Force can touch all universes in existence, so wouldn't that make the Phoenix on even scaling with Raven? They both can reach the very ends of existence.

I normally will roll my eyes at Boomstick's puns at the end, maybe a snort or a chuckle if it's somewhat good, but the bit of poetry at the end with the Poe reference was actually pretty badass here.
This entire ending sequence from 17:46 onwards is masterfully done. Raven blowing out the flame was a chilling way to put down Phoenix.

If Raven absorbed Phoenix's soul and/or the Phoenix Force, then Phoenix could just use that to burn her from the inside.
Absorbing the Phoenix Force isn't a great idea when you're fighting someone who has complete control over the Phoenix Force.
As Boomstick points out, the existence of characters like this makes it all the more hilarious that they team up with people like Robin or Angel.
There's an old comedy skit called "Angel Summoner & The BMX Bandit" that kinda covers that trope. One can call forth the divine host at will to do his bidding, the other is really good at trick-riding a BMX bike. Together, they fight crime.

If 40+ years of Titans comics have taught me anything, it's that if you want to stop the darkness inside Raven, the best thing you can do is provide emotional support, and the very worst thing you can do is start a fight with her. I half expected Jean to win, but when she impolitely picked a fight with someone who's peacefully meditating in their pacifist home, I'm glad she got to learn the same lesson as everyone else.
Now, maybe when Jean has resurrected they can have a nice, calm chat about how they can help each other out as eternity rolls by.

Just like with Apocalypse and Black Adam’s Death Battle I love that it’s hinted that Raven and Jean know each other. After all DC and Marvel have crossed over several times. It would make sense. I would even venture to guess they’re friends given how similar they are. Would also explain why they both apologized for having to kill each other.
I see it as Phoenix trying to pick a fight with Raven rather then Jean Grey
The build up around Raven in the character description, it was definitely clear shed casually take this. Shes so underrated.
I feel like she's realistically wayyyyyyyy weaker than Phoenix. Phoenix is so unbelievably powerful in Marvel cosmology she takes this easy.

I'm glad Raven won but kinda disappointed they didn’t mention Raven's feats as the Unkindness properly. For those who dont know, she killed and absorbed literally every creation, every superheroes, supervillains, planets, heavens, new genesis and everything. She absorbed all that power and made it her own. No one was even able to stop her at the end. The only one who survived is Black Adam who time traveled to the past before Raven became The Unkindness cause that was literally the only way to stop her. She was confirmed to be on the same level as The Presence (the god of dc) by the author

They didn't explain it much because they didn't use it that version in the fight, it would've been overkill. They used white Raven with the gold rings that bonded with Azarath.
Honestly, that was one amazing conclusion. Blowing out the flame was such a impactful visual.

In DC the darkness before creation is callled the great darkness. Recently in dark crisis the deadly green Raven encountered it and said if she got too close shed be turned into the unkindness and shed become its slave.

When they're both functionally immortal but only one has the ability to destroy the soul of the other, it wasn't hard to figure out how this was going to end.
At least in this one it's a canon power. Dante vs Bayonetta was stupid (he supposedly can't lose because he's just incapable of death, although the creator of both characters suggested otherwise) and Tifa vs Yang was poorly based (I love RWBY and would otherwise be happy for Yang to win, but Aura doesn't have ridiculous levels of durability. Remember the part where she literally lost her arm to a (yes, powered-up) sword slice? Punching a pillar with a person sandwiched between still does most of the force to the PILLAR, her Aura largely just prevented her being fully crushed by what forces were actually on her.).

Phoenix Force actually can destroy the soul. Dunno how Death Battle missed one of the most basic things, but Phoenix Force consumes souls. It actually learned how to manipulate souls too in the wake of Rachael Grey, it now borrows souls from the future to resurrect people. And with Phoenix Force absorbing part of The Beyonder and it's powers, it's a multiversal entity.
Raven would have to purge the entirety of existence of it's souls in order to snuff out the Phoenix Force canonically, assuming the Phoenix Force didn't do it back to her in the interim.

@@mrreyes5004 it is a weird sorta ground for creators to try and approach cause while on one end it would make sense in the terms of the original story, these are characters that people really do want to see more of (and ya can't really have that if they hit an early grave). But on the other side of that argument, there are spinoffs or I guess in terms "what if" type of stories for that reason and in many cases, there have been characters who either just can't die or just too stubborn too die (I mean, the next match up is literally just too angry to die), can actually be worked into good writing, all be it gets super repetitive and unoriginal now a days. But I do see a point even if I'm not fully on a side of completely killing off a character.

I know the comment section says this a lot but I really think Jean and Raven would be two birds of the same kinda flock. They both shoulder tremendous power that if it gets out of hand it's adios.
Both girls have around the same amount of responsibilities because of that and I think they would be inseparable friends because of it.
Both are very empathetic at their core too.
Even Boomstick mentions that they probably could have talked it out. But Deatbattle has rules that include forcing people out of character if necessary to make them fight to the death. (See Twilight v. Raven)
Only exception to that rule so far has been a pair of 4th-wall breakers.

Raven was shown as of late to more or less be a slave to the great darkness if she touched it.
And Oblivion and The Great Darkness are more or less the same thing, arguably.
Oblivion was shown bowing to the pheonix force as well.
Imo Ravens strongest form, the unkindness is more or less the Chaos King.

I’m not even surprised that this happened. This happens in about 90% of every death battle video. One character starts whooping the other characters ass then the one who’s getting beat has some crazy special final attack that just assimilates the other guy
Seeing these cosmic-level combatants from DC/Marvel makes me wanna see them try to tackle high-level characters from more obscure properties (Nicol Bolas from MTG for instance). I’d be interested to see how they powerscale an extremely powerful character that’s only represented in media outside of what they typically cover!
They have literally covered popeye and stitch both from separate universes(companies). They’re good at throwing characters together for an entertaining match
@@chasethedream3802 Yep. Not always accurate, but they tried at least. Not like so many other people. I cannot really say for a portion of the match-ups, but I had seen many arguments against how the fight would have gone in different battles (not the animation; the fight scene is for fun and does not always match the characters' feats) and only a few actually have a
point.
One example is the season finale, Vegito vs Gogeta. Though many proper lore/analyzers of Dragon Ball do agree on the outcome, they did not agree on the reasons of why it went that way.
I'd like to see who they'd match against a universe hopping, soul devouring, immortal dragon that kills gods, and then creates new ones for fun.
