Good technique! Radius brick used to be made here in the states in various sizes. That's all gone now and 90 degree is the thing because it costs less to get done. Artistry is a thing of the past for most construction unless the owners want talent. Radius stoops and hearth inlays are a real challenge and you've done a fabulous job of reminding us of the old ways. Reminds me of what needs to be done to get a great job done correctly. We here in the states will leave weep tubes placed in the joints of the first course, about every 5 head joints or so, 3 cm above ground level, but even without them a step/stoop like that should last a good 40 to 50 years without maintenance. I have 30 years in the trade and appreciate you showing the younger folk how the Romans did it with sticks and dowels on their ground. Thanks! Bricklayer's Local 5, Cleveland, Ohio, USA!

Excellent video with clear instructions - you do incredible work !!!!! I have a brick paver doorstep that is sinking in one corner, I can see that a squirrel or chipmunk has been burrowing tunnels under the stairs as there is the gravel coming out from where the stairs meet the house. Could you possibly show / explain how to repair this - the sunken area involves 12-16 bricks. Thank you!!!

Both myself and my father are masons. He was a commercial line, union block layer for a decade or so till I could flunk out of that whole "diploma" idea place they use to bus me to, year after year, (I eventually got my C.H.S.P.Examination @my local com-college🙄) My pop left a large fam in Dublin Ireland, at 21 to immigrate to Ca. W/my mom, an American woman & why the fuck am I rambling on about every fucking thing except, my wanting to say it looks good. Your joints could be tighter & cleaner, & remember.. We're not building an airplane. Eyeball the majority of those cuts correctly, bust it out, & on to the next one. Because Jose, is choppin'at the bits to do it 200$ cheaper, & he's telling the homeowner his end product is twice as nice. That's bricklaying, & every single other labor related industry, present day 2015 California! Great video! What is your process for cleaning the residual mortar from the brick surfaces once they are set in place? My amateur process has been to use a sponge, however even with many passes, rinsing, and elbow grease there's always a grey film left behind. I can never get the brick as clean as your final result.

O you who believe! Fear Allah and keep your duty to Him. And let every person look to what he has sent forth for the morrow, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what you do. And be not like those who forgot Allah (i.e. became disobedient to Allah) and He caused them to forget their ownselves, (let them to forget to do righteous deeds). Those are the Fasiqun (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). Not equal are the dwellers of the Fire and the dwellers of the Paradise. It is the dwellers of Paradise that will be successful. Had We sent down this Quran on a mountain, you would surely have seen it humbling itself and rending asunder by the fear of Allah. Such are the parables which We put forward to mankind that they may reflect. He is Allah, than Whom there is La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He) the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen (open). He is the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. He is Allah than Whom there is La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He) the King, the Holy, the One Free from all defects, the Giver of security, the Watcher over His creatures, the All-Mighty, the Compeller, the Supreme. Glory be to Allah! (High is He) above all that they associate as partners with Him. He is Allah, the Creator, the Inventor of all things, the Bestower of forms. To Him belong the Best Names . All that is in the heavens and the earth glorify Him. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise. Quran [59:18-24]
Is life just a game? Is the only purpose of life to get married have kids and make money? You Deserve to Know. YOU were created to worship your Lord.

Never connect that to your house like you did. It will break and possibly break some of the bricks in process. Thats because the house and stair settle in different speeds. Also you filled the gutter over, like why would you do that? You can never replace it now. You also need to left a little slope on the stair for water to go off. In Europe, you also need to use non slippery tiles. Also you never put rubble in that, it settles uneavenly. And why you use that plastic i will probably never understand, was that supposed to be water insulation? Because this way its gonna break off the tiles on top with hairline cracks.

How do you over come the possibility of bridging the DPM of the house? When ever you lay slabs up to your front/back door areas it's recommended to leave at least 2 bricks below DPM. This isn't possible with a step end of the day, its a step, it needs to be of a certain level otherwise it feels very awkward walking out of the house. Many Thanks.
