Hello from the United States. This is the first instructional video I leave the music on, without muting it, because the music is so lovely. Other videos have stupidly annoying music. I’m a lady and it matters to me. Thank you. Subscribed. Awesome video.👍🏻
I had two small step projects that I needed to do (one repair and one build) and could NOT find information on how to do them for the life of me. I stumbled across this video through a link from one of your others and it answered all my questions. My two steps turned out great, solely due to your careful and complete explanations. THANK YOU from a pure amateur bricklayer in Los Angeles. Cheers and keep up the great work!
You are a real credit to your trade and it is people like you who restore peoples faith in humanity. In today's take, take, take society its nice to give something back and do a nice gesture which will make a massive difference to someones life. Good on you.
Greetings from Florida Stu. I’m a rank amateur about to install a brick paver patio with a semi circle around a round fire pit. Your video has given me great inspiration! Thank you!
A Chinese brick laying video brought me to yours. Wow, what a difference. They were wearing sandals on their feet and hacking bricks to pieces with what looked like a meat cleaver. Nice professional job to you!
That is beautiful, I wish you were here in SC to help me. I'm not a bricklayer by no means, just put a few bricks back that fell off from age. It took me a few tries but I think I did a great job, but I want my porch to look better so, I'm going to try this, lol. God be with me.
You are seriously becoming my hero Stu. Nice to see people looking after the elderly, bless ya mate. I seriously want you to do my brickwork when I finally get to doing the front. I live In Kent mate, it’s gonna cost me an absolute fortune to get you to even consider doing the job but if you want beautiful work done you have to pay the price, whatever it costs. I live in deep Kent on the coast and the amount of work the plumbing firm I worked for did in London was un-real, purely because of the quality of the work and the reputation of the firm. If I could get you here when it’s time I can promise you sea and sand mate, sun, that’s another question lol. There will be coffee and bacon sandwiches a plenty though Stu 👍
Great job. You took one comfortable step into the house and turned it into two tiny steps that don't have the same rise and are less than 4 inches tall. This is a solution in search of a problem...
Good job. Suggestions: after lying the semi-circle think a cardboard template will help to cut the pieces that are smaller. You measure the area, lay the complete pavers and draw the line to cut. Also, i think, if you smooth the joints with a wet brush it will clear the edges to make them look clean-er.
Beautiful!! I want to have something like that from my door down to my patio which requires about 3 steps down. I’m hoping my husband is up for the challenge!
I feel as though residential masonry would be tremendously more rewarding than the tight, rushed deadlines that are in play when working on a commercial building. I often wonder (in my 30's now) if I should have taken a chance to explore this career field more in depth. Would really like to have seen the cutting and shaping for the pieces you inserted at 9:28. Great work Stu!
Nice job, I am in a Pre-Apprenticeship program at the Local here in my city. I was about to comment saying that the head and bed joints looked like they could use more mortar but I watched until the end and noticed you touched it all up. Amazing work!
Stu i don't even come close to your skill level but have done loads of these in my time . Next one you do try laying the internals down first and scribe them . Then just put the outside bricks on last . You will find this alot faster and simpler. Oh keep the vids coming fella great to watch.
Love your videos Stu, they give me a lot of inspiration, and your workmanship is exceptional. As a DIYer I would be chuffed if I could produce anything half as good as what you do!
Aussie brickie here Only thing I'd say is to start the round headers from the middle of the radius so you end up with 2 same cuts against the wall. Good job tho obvisiously. Maybe you'll implement that next time.
Daniel Stephens , hi mate another brickie here no need to do any of that just adapt your radius to suit if you end up with a cut just either tighten your radius or pull it out a bit I've never had to put cuts in I always adapted my radius to suit and as I specialised in glass bricks at the end of my working lifetime you can't cut glass brick to suit your radius, you adapt your area to suit the radius for the materials you're working with, but I fully understand that if the radius can't be adapted then start at the centre and work towards the ends plus I always built a centre brick to give me the level so I would know how much mortar to spread
Stu, Very neat job. I bet the lady of the house love it for a good job well done. Just a couple of safety things: cutting brick with a power saw next to you trainers shoes without protecive shoes and eye goggles can be a bit risky, no doubt it will be bad to miss a toe or an eye. Keep safe.
You are a boss bricky love watching your videos gonna try to do my garden wall soon im a plumber/gas engineers but gotta appreciate good work bo matter what trade you do keep up the good work and the work keeps coming to you 👍👍
If this was done on a sloping block paving area would you recommend removing the block paving to eliminate water running into step and freezing the bottom joints?
