The headstock looks like a great improvement to me. The string pull through the nut is much straighter so the tuning stability will be better. Good on Heritage for being brave enough to deviate from "authenticity".

I adore my 535, which I giggle with frequently. Better QC than a Gibson at a much lower price point, and a full pound lighter weight than most 335’s

I have this one in Emerald Green! You can't find that color anymore; did you forget to mention they are made by hand, no cns machines are used. I was going to get the Gibson until I found the Heritage.

Kalamazoo is definitely not a made up name. I lived and worked there for 20 years. I lived about 2 miles from the old Gibson factory. I've been inside and actually applied for a job with Heritage. Also buried utility lines to the building. I didn't get a job there obviously.
I have friends that own Heritage guitars and they are way better than Gibson. Some of the Gibson guys didn't wanna move to Tennessee so they started Heritage. They also build the new Harmony line of guitars there , which are absolutely phenomenal! I love living where I do. 30 miles from the source. Midway between Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids.

Personally I take off pick guards. My strumming style doesn't scratch the guitar so I don't need the pick guard. Also I like the way they look without it. But what I really like about the pick guard on this guitar is the metal bracket is like the Gibson style, not the Epiphone style. That's pretty cool that they gave you this guitar in exchange for doing this video. That's a pretty good deal.

    • @baabaabaa-yp2jh

I rest my fingers on the pickguard on my 335 Dot.. if picking.
I've only had a strum on a Heritage, nicely made... but we don't get many in Australia.

I have same Cherry with Seth Lovers which are unpotted. Sound as good as the ‘59’s but sound more “ vintage and airy”….which is a nice way of saying that they are microphonic!

Heritage is great, even as a Gibson snob myself, their used prices are very good if you want a made in usa gibson style guitar. Sadly, like Gibson their weights are very inconsistent. If you dont want a gibson, i highly suggest a collings. those are incredible

Looks like a winner. My last Gibson '61 SG experience was not good so a 335 is out of the question. They still have QC issues at least mine did. I may look at the Heritage 535.

I’ll pass up a guitar because I don’t like the headstock…because there are so many more guitars I want than that I can afford that there’s always another one to waste my money on. 😆 That said, I like the Heritage headstock better than the Gibson. I’ve just never been a fan of the 335 double-cut design. The Epiphone Uptown Kat ES is the semi-hallow on my wish list.

Beautiful guitar and excellent tone. Headstock? I couldn't see it because my ears were so happy. What I always wonder about is the neck/body balance especially given the low overall weight of this guitar...neck dive is so common in semi hollow bodies. Had a very nice Eastman with 59s in it that sounded great but the neck dive was so bad playing standing or sitting it wasn't worth keeping. So how goes the balance on this beauty?

Thank you! I will wait for your answer before I watch the rest of the video so I don't ruin the experience. Merry Christmas!

Pickguard off. The headstock is fine, but not spectacular. The guitar (like all Heritage guitars) IS spectacular, however. Heritage guitars are what Gibson guitars COULD be if they decided to pay attention and give a shi* about making consistent quality a rule and not an exception. Congrats on the beautiful new guitar. Like the people I can’t stand say, “I’m jelly!”
