    Dude.... you are a FREAKING genius!!! Thank you so much!!!! I would have NEVER guessed to look at those tiny traces. Found two very small gaps the size of a grain of sand. Ran a jumper to the one you labeled “E” and it works like a charm!!! The thing was powering off by itself, shutting down and beeping, auto turning on... this fixed all of it!!!! Thank YOU!!!!

    Your video was great, repairing an old Xbox that was having power and eject button issues and found the problem immediately after watching your video. I removed the clock capacitor and cleaned what corrosion I could find, but didn't see the small damage it did to the K and P traces.
    Thank you for the help. That Xbox is back to full working order now.

      The Sega Holic I’ve never really understood if we’re allowed to use game footage and music in our videos. I know traditional music from artists will be copyrighted, but what about playing 5seconds of a 1985 game footage/music? Channels like MLIG do it all the time so I’m guessing it’s ok.

    • @The_SegaHolic
      @The_SegaHolic  6 років тому

      You can use game footage and it's music, but some companies file copyright claims with UA-cam. UA-cam will auto-detect the music, and automatically flag the video for "Copyrighted Content" making the video NON-MONETIZABLE. You just can't make money from it, although you can keep the video up.
      For instance, this video:
      ua-cam.com/users/edit?o=U&video_id=1qKq_ivdilI and between 21:48 - 23:16 for the video, I'm playing Contra for NES, whose music Konami has copyrighted and has claims with UA-cam. UA-cam auto detected the Konami/Contra music and UA-cam even links a timestamp of the infringing music, along with who the copyright owners are. I think gameplay video is fine, as long as the music aint playing... even 8-Bit music apparently.
      FUNNY THING IS, SEGA HAS MADE NO CLAIMS WITH UA-cam, but I want to stay clean for the future-proofing in case Sega does make claims later.
      Basically, if you don't own the music or the logos or art, the owners can make claims according to UA-cam.
      I'm keeping my future videos clean so I can make the very little money, and hopefully at least pay for a PO Box so I an receive stuff for possibly FREE REPAIRS for viewers.

I packed things up moved and it was not used for about a year. Got it out, set it up, plugged in in. pressed the Power button... NOTHING.. Checked it out by opening it, Could not see or find anything wrong inside, ALL looked good, NO LIGHTS at all come on when pressing the button again.. I CAN HEAR the Disk spin when I hold the Power button or disk eject button but NO LIGHTS come on and it does not start, Any ideas as to what my be the problem? The disk spins as long as I hold the Power or eject button bt stops as soon as I release either of them. IT is not making excess noise and actually can barely be heard unless you put your ear really close to it.

      What's funny is that the damage can vary wildly. Some leaks, and it seems as though the electrolitic fluid doesn't really do any damage, and then there is the one from ep.67, where it eats up and corrodes solder. Remove the capacitor and clean the fluid that leaked. The fluid that's not cleaned up can do more damage later.

    I am wondering if the points are more or less the same on all mb versions of the Xbox or if some versions are more prone to trace issues
    or if its more about who spilled some soda on the xbox 15 years ago.

      This issue is a LOT more prevalent than someone spilling soda. I think it’s cleaning agents at the factory that pools in that area as they were probably stood up for it to dry.

    I need to fix my XBox, it has the exact same issue as yours in the video. Turns on automatically and power button isn't responsive. However, the ISO zone URL is no longer good. DO you have access to a DIY somewhere else?

    I've check the traces but there intact. i just twisted off the clock cap beacuse my xbox has the same issue. but it did not leak a lot, the cap looked great but there was lil bit of acid there. Are there any other things that can cause these issues. Is it okay to use cleaning alcohol to get rid of the corrosion. there is a little bit on the smaller cap below the clock cap at one oth the two contact points. Everything else is were its supossed to be. Its a 1.2-1.5

      The XBox has 4 different types of DVD Drive, but usually, the Samsung DVD Drive is the one that has all the issues.

    Does this fix also apply to a non-modded F.R.A.G issue?

    • @The_SegaHolic
      @The_SegaHolic  5 років тому

      No. Those are more serious issues. Have you asked the XBox community on Reddit? If not, seek out JRocky5 and PM him.

      The pricer at my local Savers is generous. 😁 You have to be lucky sometimes as you have to beat out the other pickers. I've never found video games at Goodwill. If you have a Savers nearby, I'd go there.

    Hopefully someone is still watching this post and can give me a pointer as to wheat to check. XBOX Original was working fine NO problems.
    I really miss my saved games after years of playing with them. I am not getting and ring lights at all.. nothing there..
