One of the few guitarists that can do anything but doesn’t - there is just enough restraint in that solo so that it still serves the song rather than sounding like it’s shredding for the sake of it. To create a solo that long and keep it melodic and interesting is mind blowing! Love it

Ritchard did appear at Pompeii with David, it was the last time that they played 'Echoes ' ,David retired the song after Ricks death, I personally think that it's Ritchard playing the organ and keyboard in the background that creates the Pink Floyd sound.
Richard Wright was the sound of Pink Floyd! If you listen to anything pre Dark Side, his keys just provide so much texture and layers as they were working to find their voice and sound. Basically their catalogue up to and including the Animals album just illustrates how he could fill the aura and create that sound for which PF was famous. Yeah, he was such a key contributor and never got the praise he deserved while he was alive. Which truly was a shame. The man was a legend, unfortunately overshadowed by Gilmour & Waters, and even Barrett’s mystique. Shine On wouldn’t be the opus that it was without his keys and so many more of their legendary compositions, such as Echoes, Time, Us & Them, Great Gig, etc., all with writing credits to Wright, just prove how great he was and what an influential musical artist he was. He painted the landscape on which the rest could stand. RIP Richard Wright! Never forgotten.
You say it's difficult to play slowly like they do and I'm sure it is but it was Chopin who said it's not just the music it's also the space between each note! They never try to keep up with themselves in other words they never get in a hurry and they play the song as fast as it needs to be played not extremely fast just to impress someone! If you want to see the cool lights coming down on David Gilmour do the final song in their three song encore "Run Like Hell" in this same concert!!
I was at the Detroit show where this set debuted. The crowd went absolutely crazy when DG said that was the first live performance of DSOTM in 20 years.
Nick pulls the headphones off during the Live 8 performance, and talking about guitars here is another little factoid , straight from Guy Pratt's book ' My Bass and other Animals ' , when he went to the audition to replace Roger he was in the green room waiting for David and found a guitar so he picked it up and started noodling about on it, when David arrived Guy mentioned that he thought it looked like an older/ early Fender and David replied that he wouldn't find 1 any older so Guy checked the serial number and discovered that it was number 00001 .

Which doctor?
@@MoreMeetArthur the 12th doctor , the actor is Peter Cepaldi 👩🏻🎤and I think it is Richard Wright on 🎹?!?
Great reaction lads! Not sure which other tracks you have covered from this set, but Shine on You crazy Diamond, High Hopes, Sorrow, Keep Talking, Coming Back to Life, Wish You Were Here, Money, Time, The Great Gig In The Sky, Us and Them, and Run Like Hell should get you started.....Enjoy!
May as well do the whole set! 😂
@@MoreMeetArthur Don't let me stop you.....
There is another one with Floyd maybe longer on the Song "The Turning Away" Live in Italy
Personally my favourite band ever. The greatest is the beatles.
Greatest rock bands 1. The beatles 2. Pink floyd 3. Led zeppelin 4. Strolling Bones from here on its really hard to pick.
Sabbath, doors, metallica, queen, rush, iron maiden, judas priest,ac/dc, jimi hendrix experience, cream, aerosmith, deep purple, the eagles, the kinks, radiohead, tool, king crimson, genesis, yes, ccr ,bee gees, the who,u2 , jethro tull etc etc all have a strong argument for top 10
This is universally regarded as one of the top solos, including by me. You should listen to Hendrix " Machine Gun" live. Faces will melt.
A classic, will see if we can do it!
Guitars want David Gilmour for Christmas. Once again, so grateful for having seen Pink Floyd in concert twice. A feast for the ears and eyes!
You mentioned sam brown. You must check out "the great gig in the sky" from the same gig.
The 3 backing vocalists share the limelight. Sam really rips it.
Guy pratt!!.
Please keep reacting to Pink Floyd, and your channel will grow even more. I would suggest Dogs of War, live, from the album, Delicate Sound of Thunder. Well done guys.
We've got a dark side of the moon reaction coming
@@MoreMeetArthur That will make you guys fall in love with Pink Floyd... Listening Pink Floyd since i was 8, i am now 50.
Btw , that glitter disco ball is 6 meters in diameter 👍
Inside that disco ball was a small diamond made of pink glass. A tribute to their Crazy Diamond Syd.
Guy Pratt on bass.
Guy Pratt is the bass player’s name.
There should have a law to send in jail someone who clic on pause in the middle of this emotional solo just to say "wtf pink floyd!".
Anyway, thx for the react
You broke the Golden Rule: Never pause a David Gilmore solo!
It is an unbelievable solo no doubt but it is all subjective. I do love it. There is a solo by Lynyrd Skynrd (several actually) 1976 at Knebworth. They blew The Stones off the stage. Jagger refused to come on for 2 hours after LS opened for them. Different music I know but the guitar(s) solo(s) are off the chart.
You never, ever, pause a David Gilmour solo . Unadulterated Sacrilege 😉😊 BTW, the 2nd solo is regarded as the greatest solo of all time 😊
We actually heard church bells and people with pitchforks when we pressed that pause button!! Won’t happen again 😅

Excellent reaction, thank you.Check out Great Gig...from this same show.
Hell yeah
React...OnThe Turning Away live 1988...Epic guitar solo too!!!
It's not Pink Floyd without Waters in my view.
A great solo is one you can whistle...
Excellent reaction 👏👏👏
Also consider reacting to:
Pink Floyd *High Hopes* also from PULSE
Pink Floyd *On The Turning Away* from Delicate Sound of Thunder LIVE
And a left field entry for you;
Faithless *God Is A DJ* LIVE at Alexandra Palace
👍

Epic guitar solo...David Gilmour is the best!!!
