This album gives me goosebumps. You used the word atmosphere and that is exactly right, that kind of blissful feeling you get with some music - a more recent example of a band would be the Black Keys for me. I love all their albums but the atmosphere in the song Weight Of Love from from the Turn Blue album just gives me those goosebumps every time. Would love to hear you react to any of their albums but particularly Brothers! Keep up the good work chaps, your channel is brilliant 👏

This was filmed at one of the last two live gigs at the end of an 8 month 96 gig Love Over Gold tour that's why they are so tight together and can change tempo at will this is one of the greatest live performances ever by a group of excellent musicians at the top of their game after years of hard work The drummer was playing for the first time in front of his dad at this show I believe I watch this once a night and every other reaction has been that it has been fantastic (no halves) maybe your trying to get a niche for yourselves but it's not one I want to return to

This is one of my all time favorite performances! Listening to someone I have no idea what your skills are but I am sure that this drummer could teach you a lot about playing drums that people want to hear. My rating for the guy on the right is an 8 and overall rating of 13. I also think the guy on the right should be looking for a new drummer.

Your insights are lovely to listen to, since you're musicians yourselves. Love to hear how you're blown away by the musicality of what PF brings ...

The studio version of this is quite different, with lots of layered voices and instruments. And you can find at least one other live version that is different again. But they were definitely a bit special for this whole performance. The reason the video quality is so good for 1981 is that it was being filmed for a possible concert film for release to movie theaters, which was getting to be a big thing at the time. I don't think the film was ever in theaters, but they did release the video eventually.

I've seen Pink Floyd four times in three different decades. In 1974 " Dark Side of The Moon" tour, 1977 "In The Flesh" tour, 87 "Momentary Lapse of Reason" tour & the 1994 Pulse concert!! You mentioned drugs. In 77 during the In the flesh tour concert my wife and I were walking up a ramp into the Colosseum in Phoenix Arizona and two girls we're walking next to us and giggling and bragging about having taken acid. I was a bit taken aback because I knew what Pink Floyd was going to do in their concert and these girls were saying we're going to hear money!! I said have you seen these guys before? They said no this is our first concert which shocked me a bit and I said good luck!! During that concert they played all of "wish you were here" took a short break played all of "Animals' left the stage and played half of "Dark side of the Moon" for the encore. They were playing the song"Welcome to the Machine" with a really weird movie playing behind them and when they hit a huge note on the huge circular screen a red ocean turned into faces and hands reaching for the sky and screaming I saw something disappear from my peripheral vision. I looked closer and it was the two girls with one swatting something in the air that was not there and the other in a fetal position on the floor!! Either security or paramedics came in and hauled them out. The concert was so intense I saw at least a dozen other people get hauled out. Probably the most intense and greatest concert I've ever seen and I've seen about 100 in my life from ACDC to led Zeppelin and everyone in between alphabetically. Every time my wife and I drove home after a Pink Floyd concert we never said a word because we were usually blown away and in shock!!! Keep going and having fun and you'll hit a thousand before you know it!!

Sorry guys. I respect your right to not like the music you listen to, but I don't think you have the right to bury an extraordinary drummer like Terry Williams in this way, so I didn't feel the need to watch the remaining six minutes of the video after the song ended, even though you specifically requested it in your initial statements. I'm sure I missed a lot. First of all, this song is written on a simple theme, but it is a song that evokes deep emotions in the listener. Maybe we can call it the magnificence of small things to describe this feeling. In a way, this version from the Alchemy concert reflects the live performance of the Sultans of Swing band mentioned in the song, not Dire Straits. As you know, more sounds add mass and volume to a musical composition. Mark wanted to give the song mass and volume in this version and gave Terry free rein. And Terry did a job - perhaps beyond what Mark expected. Throughout the song, you can see the look of satisfaction on Mark's face and his smiling eyes talking to John (John Illsley, the bassist) about Terry's attacks. Pick Withers played the drums in the studio version of the song. Maybe you can take a look at him, he had a much simpler (which is never bad) style. Anyway.. Since you did not forget to give a lesson in sympathy to Terry Williams, one of the funniest men in the world, as well as his extraordinary drumming technique, we can now go back to our caves.

Terrible reaction video and seriously reveals your mindsets and limitations. All of them are playing with passion, heart and soul, not least the drummer adding so much creativity....something that has gone extinct today. As for drumming being 'less is more', yeah that's why most are forgotten with some exceptional performances like Terry here and others played even now decades later.

Mark Knopfler is left-handed but plays right-handed, so the force he imparts on the neck is much more intense than the delicate finger picking of his right hand. This makes him a unique and very recognizable guitarist. Congratulations on the reaction Love Teresa from Genoa ITALY
