That bike was very nice. It has that look everyone is going for, with just enough ware and age to give it character. All the mechanics were rebuilt and tuned. It sold for around 1000$ total with shipping 1100$. I had a 63 stingray similar condition that sold for $3000. What a difference a year can make! Thanks for watching! Van Bushnell
I'm trying to build a 1964 stingray like the one I got for Christmas in 1964. I'm looking at a frame serial no. L426228. I believe this is a December 1964. Am I correct ? Your videos have helped me so much. Thanks
Thank you! Glad to hear the videos help long after auction is over. L4 will be November of 64 Schwinn did not use the Letter I or the letter O in the serial number to reduce chance of confusion with a number. A = Jan; B = Feb; C = March; D =April; E = May; F =June; G =July; H = August; J = Sept; K = Oct; L = Nov; M = December Starting in 1965 Schwinn used a letter to represent the year. Starting with A = 1965 and so on................. but once again skipping letters I and O. example AS58992 = January of 1981 bike Thanks for watching and good luck with your build!
Ebay, Thecabe.com Ratrodbikes.com a 36 spoke S2 wheel for the early model Scramblers are easy to find. 36 hole red stripe bendix hub off a 26" wheel is easy to find. You may be able to lace this hub to the scrambler wheel? I have never tried it not sure if it work? I think it would.
Hello again, Could you tell me the dimensions for the 64 Stingray handlebars . there are so many for sale , I want to get the correct handlebar. So far everything coming along nicely on my rebuild. I actually found the correct sissy bar witch is a one of a kind. Thanks for the help.
Lucky 7 36 tooth sprocket 4 1/2' crank arm length......... I think This is a early year stingray 1964 the larger sprocket(46 tooth) and the MAG sprocket (52 tooth) used on krates and later year stingrays will not fit.
The bike sold for just uner $1,000 (before shipping) on ebay.If you'd like to follow our current build, you can check out the Rat Rod 2016 Muscle Bike Build off:www.ratrodbikes.com/forum/index.php?threads/mbbo-5-class-1-lester-ray.100290/

Early bars are often called Butterfly Bars 1963-1966. 31" wide. Most do not have a date code. Glad to hear you found that sissybar.
They’re worth almost $3000 original like you have it
Do you think someone 6 ft tall can ride it?
+Marwan Ratiug , I would say that 6 feet is just about the height limit.
