    Cool trick for those of you that don’t want to disassemble… take a Q tip and Vaseline and smear it on everything you do not want painted. Then when it’s completely dry, just wipe the Vaseline off. Paint won’t stick to it. Just be careful to not get Vaseline on parts you DO want painted, because it’ll wipe right off with a rag. Also, a foam ear plug in the barrel will keep paint outa there. I mean, it’d probably blow right out with the first round anyways, but I wouldn’t want paint in my barrel.

    I have an old revolver of very low value. Thinking about spraying it coyote brown. Any issue with heat of the barrel?

    Did you have any issues afterwards when cleaning the gun using gun cleaners and oils?

      I guess he can "like" your comment, but not actually reply...
      Personally, i haven't had too much trouble with it coming off. With use (any kind), it obviously wears/fades over time anyways. Not sure what the protocol is, but i did two coates of color and one coate of flat clear. The holster probably causes the most (and quickest) wear to handguns.

    So I was going to get a Bodyguard 2.0.
    It's so small. I'm not paying 100+ to get that thing cerakoted.
    This will be fun!! Do it need to clear coat it after??

      @Tanika Bays unfortunately never did it. Got a great deal on a hellcat so I sold the g3x shortly after... great gun but I wanted something capable of being smaller.. still curious. As long as you take the mag apart before painting your clear though. I have done that on my glock 23.

    See I'm not fully comfortable stripping the gun so I'm wanting to find a way to paint it without takedown.
    How much harder is it to tape it up without disassembling?

    • @RustyGuns

      Not much it just makes it much much easier. Just take your time and be sure to cover the parts needed.

    • @robertjohnson9756

      You dont have to takedown to paint just tape off the sights and trigger even getting paint in the tip of barrel wont effect accuracy and the paint will be removed from the first shot kit badger has a good video on painting his pistol

    Cool video thanks. Just wondering how the paint goes in terms of wearing away where it contacts a holster which is hard plastic and also is there wear from where you grab the slide to rack it?

    • @RustyGuns
      @RustyGuns  3 роки тому +1

      The hands haven't wore it at the slide, now yeah it will definitely wear faster in a kydex type holster vs a nylon or leather.

    I have a question, so I have a umarex M&P co2 gun and I want to paint the slide silver so it will look like the SG-09 from the resident evil 4 remake but the gun is polymer and im going to use it for a costume and also using it for shooting in my back yard should i paint it,and also should I take the gun apart in order to paint it or no because I have never taken apart one and don’t want to break it as I got it yesterday and it was $50

    My father likes the snake skin spray painted pistol and ak47 grips and stocks i have been painting with spray cans. He wants me to spray can his g2c carry gun the same. I figured to ask here and see if its possible to spray can the whole gun. I can spray the slide and all? If so what steps would i take to paint the slide successfully?

    • @RustyGuns
      @RustyGuns  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah you can spray the slide like I did on this one, but you don't want to spray the inside part of the slide only the outside. Because you're adding layers and that could cause it to bind and not function properly. Basically just avoid any of the moving parts or parts where there will be friction.

      @@RustyGuns thanks for the reply. I appreciate it a ton. I got done painting his handgun around 7 this morning and its drying now. I think it came out pretty good. I did the same design of trying to make it look like snake skin. He wanted his color alittle darker so i used the same base color i was using before but i used alot more grey for the secondary color. Just taking alittle while to dry now lol.

    • @RustyGuns

      I didn't need to as it was already a little textured. But some surfaces could benefit from it, but I would do it very lightly as it doesn't need to be sanded hard.

      Not bad actually, but it took much longer to fully cure and harden on the plastic parts. Took almost 72HR before I could tell that it really fully cured. But it will also depend on when you paint, temperature and humidity will play a factor.
