Adding on to what Baldermort has said about the temperment of new Space Marines.. it is true that their newfound prowess needs to be constantly kept in check at least initially. You see when you take an ordinary person, put them on a proper diet and a solid training regimen they will gain muscle & lose fat. The muscles will ripple and swell with every rep. The fibres and veins beneath will become visible with every flex.. but with that also inevitably comes the swelling of the ego. You can see this in many "weightlifting fail" videos on UA-cam where a seemingly ordinary person is clearly lifting weight that is WAY above their level. This same thing sometimes happens for new students to combat sports (Boxing, Olympic Wrestling, etc) and the traditional martial arts (Karate, Arnis Eskrima Kali, etc). They become overeager to test themselves and begin fights that don't need to occur. Because they have improved and have became something that is objectively, evidently, and obviously more than what they previously were it plays on the mind. They sometimes begin to fantasize. Now imagine how that might feel when the final procedure of becoming a Space Marine is undertaken. Especially to those that are Blood Angels, where they start out being not much different to Gollum from Lord Of The Rings and then come out of their sarcophagus akin to Apollo.
@@Baldermort thank you. I have seen it happen a lot across the gyms and clubs that I have trained at over the years. For an ordinary person, you only get to overestimate what you are capable of with weightlifting mistakes a couple of times at best before you end up with a serious injury. Sometimes these injuries are permanent. In extreme situations they can flat out cripple you and in rare instances they can kill you. There are videos of this available on UA-cam if you need proof. Ruptured internal organs, blown out spines, crushed rib cages.. its all there to serve as a warning for us. In regards to fighting and sparring it follows a similar pattern, where if one bites off more than they are able to chew & swallow, you can end up taking unnecessary punishment. And every hard blow to the head takes you down a rank or belt in skill over the course of your session. So lets say you're a Black Belt but suffer a nasty hit to the head. Well, if you weren't outright knocked out then you're now a Brown Belt. If you suffer more unanswered hits to the head over the course of rounds you'll continue to lose more of those fine motorskills, going from Brown Belt to Red, Orange, Purple, and so on all the way down to White Belt.. beginner level. Now if, hypothetically you yourself are a Space Marine or any other member of the Planetary Defence Force or Astra Militatum then you do not have the luxury of making these errors in the face of a Hormagaunt or Howling Banshee.
Baldy, on a regular basis I put together a playlist of your videos to go to sleep to, to which, at present I was doing, and I noticed something.. who the **** gave you 11 dislikes?! How dare anyone do such a thing to any one of your masterpieces
@@Baldermort Detested huh? Well, when I first found your videos I didn’t know much at all about 40k, and now I’m in love with it. Thanks for the introduction and entertainment!

For this they were awarded the Principes Maxima and the nickname "The Titan Slayers" '...The Immortals moved on their sergeant’s lead, charging up to the stricken necrons. Three battle-brothers hung back as the others went ahead of the enemy casualties. The loud crack-bang of single headshots and the sonorous report of a phasal shift filled the air. Iulus had read the tactica briefings extensively. Nothing barring critical system damage would prevent a necron’s ability to self-repair. He was taking no chances. ‘Report,’ he barked into the comm-feed. ‘Eliminated, brother-sergeant.’ Three identical replies came back before Iulus’s squad were reunited. The dense chud-chud of a heavy bolter, unleashed by ‘Guilliman’s Hammer’, Tirian’s Devastators, sounded from the left. It was paired off with another weapon, the two cannons giving off intermittent barrages that overlapped at the beginning and end of their ammo cycles. The foom of missile tubes provided a low chorus to the percussive refrain of the bolters. Explosions, hazy through the mist, bloomed. Snow and frag spat in diagonal bursts. It was brutal, but in the distance necrons were rising from the carnage. ‘Temple of Hera.’ Iulus had moved ahead of the Devastators, but caught the flare of muzzle flashes and the fading contrail of expelled smoke in his peripheral vision as they advanced. There was little to no cover on the plaza, the necrons had levelled it with their cannonade, but that was why Space Marines wore power armour - ceramite battle plate was all the cover they needed. From the right, Brother-Sergeant Atavian brought up a second squad of Devastators, the Titan Slayers. Their weapons brought swift death to the mechanoids. Even the necrons’ enhanced repair ability couldn’t save them from the searing beam of a lascannon or the metal-sloughing effects of a multi-melta. Iulus stayed close to Atavian, advancing in an oblique line. Anno Imperator 850.973.M41 '...Lodur showed no signs of noticing. All of his attention was focussed on the brood of hormagaunts struggling to breach the line of Mantis Warrior Devastator Marines to the west of the bunker. His melta-gun hissed with superheated death as the giant banner of the Mantis Warriors rippled in brilliant greens against the night sky. Spinning the force staff to clean the blades, sending threads of ichor and sparks of power flicking off into the ever darkening sky, Shaidan turned again to survey the scene developing below them. The Second Company was in full retreat. Some squads had already been extracted, hoisted out of the mire of talons and teeth by the shimmering green Mantis Thunderhawks. This bunker was their last stand. Theirs were the last human feet on Herodian IV, and theirs were barely human. Looking south, in the near distance Shaidan could see Sergeant Magnir and his Devastator squad blazing away from an island of rock in the jagged sea of xenos organisms. They had been surrounded and cut off by the tide of tyranids that flowed over the desert towards the command bunker. Magnir had made a stand, buying a few vital moments for the command squad to reach its vantage point. But now, peppered from the sky by balls of bio-plasma, vomited from the screaming guts of circling gargoyles and besieged on all sides by broods of braying termagants, Magnir’s squad was a fury of death and glory. Shaidan watched the flashes of lascannons and great plumes of heat from the plasma cannons. He saw an arc of flash points, defined by the continuous discharge of heavy bolters, arranged in a disciplined, defensive line. Atop the highest rock, Shaidan could see Magnir himself defiantly battling the swooping gargoyles with his chainsword... Shaidan turned away to the west, where Sergeant Ruinus’s Devastator squad was falling slowly back into the bunker’s precinct. Their heavy bolters were cutting swathes from the advancing horde, but it was a losing battle. The numbers were simply too great. Brother Nerthus was behind the line of his battle-brothers, firing salvoes from the squad’s lascannon, attempting to knock out the largest of the tyranid foes: giant warrior creatures on whom the bolter shells appeared to have little effect. Ruinus himself was in the centre of the retreating line. His boltgun had been spent long ago and he was in the thick of the hormagaunts with his power fist, smashing the giant scything talons and cracking tyranid bones with lightning speed and ferocity... Magnir surveyed the distance between his squad and the biovore-cannon to the south. It was about two hundred metres, thick with a seething mass of tyranids. But, turning to the north, he knew that there was no way that his squad would make it to the command bunker either. Moreover, watching the impacts of the spore mines against the walls of the bunker, he knew that the exposed command squad would not last much longer against such an onslaught. ‘Devastators!’ he cried from his elevated position on the rock promontory - reaching his decision without hesitation. He knew that his squad could hear him, despite the frenzy of battle below. He raised his chainsword into the air, pointing across the swarm to the south, to the organic cannon that was spitting spores of death into the air, and called again. ‘Devastators! For Redemption! For the Mantis Warriors! For the Emperor!’ In immediate acknowledgement, his squad turned their guns to the south and released a united salvo. Magnir leapt from the summit of the rock down into the wave of gaunts that broke against the fire of his squad, his spluttering chainsword alive with the promise of death...' - Devastators from the Mantis Warriors’ Second Company during the tyranocide campaign on the surface of Herodian IV.[Herodian System.
Thanks! :).
Oh, nothing is for everyone. If you look on some forums I’m detested. It happens. Ignore it. :)
@@Baldermort Detested huh? Well, when I first found your videos I didn’t know much at all about 40k, and now I’m in love with it. Thanks for the introduction and entertainment!
Haven't been able to imagine Ravens as anything else but space ninjas until now
Jebiga 😂
I support this content, so should you. For the Emperor
Out of curiosity, how dangerous would the grav gun be to a primarch or other comparable entities?
Mitchell Lindsay not sure. The primarchs and their level are demi gods, as they it it. I wouldn’t be surprised if their armour burst before the sinews of a Primarch. But it really depends on the author. ;).
so is a Devestator what you get when a Space Marine pulls a Transformers/Power Rangers and Combine together
Surely that's a dreadknight?
To adjust an old tanker saying, "when in doubt, send in more than a scout".
And down the rabbit hole I go...yay!
Have you seen the new data sheets on the Eradicators coming with the Indomitus box?! Two words: Melta Rifles. Sweet Holy Throne they are vicious!
Aye. One side of me is jumping for joy,. the CF and BA player, but the xenos player in me is shuddering. I can only hope they will be pointed correctly after the standard period of 'over powered and under costed' months that come with any new model. :) :)
Hahaha heavy bolter goes: BLAM BLAM BLAM
I know you've already done a video on them, but could you do a Custodes one with an intro story, that'd be awesome : )
Under the cover of fire from devestator squads - WE CHARGE!!!
LOL! Channel that Black Templar brother Popa. :)
Brilliant Units.
Hey Baldemort, are you writing those small stories yourself? They are all incredibly well written
Yep. They sound better than that are. Trust me, I have to read them. :)
I remember playing Warhammer 40k: Space Marine n the Devastator was n is my to go class to play on multiplayer…man I remember taking out the entire team twice wit the mini gun devastator it was the best game I’ve played still gives me goosebumps
What is better than a gun? A BIGGER GUN! WITH MORE EXPLOSIONS!
*nods sagely*
Truth. :).
'Siege-Captain Daviks of the Silver Skulls wore the reinforced armour of a Devastator, built to accommodate the extra weight and heft of a heavy weapon, and his retinue counted among them his Company Champion carrying an obsidian sword and a shield faced with a mirror to deflect laser fire in combat...' - Daviks of the Silver Skulls IX Company

'...The Immortals moved on their sergeant’s lead, charging up to the stricken necrons. '...Lodur showed no signs of noticing. Herodian Mandenville Point]
I love it
Ah... Young blood...
Well... In Space Marine terms anyway.
Hell yeah! I got me a Luetin09 AND a Baldermorte!!!!!
I'd live to see a mug with your servitor skull emblem put on it... I'd buy it..
Somehow Raven Guard devastator squads seem more right than Raven Guard in tanks. Sneak in and cause maximum damage...then sneaky out again.
