Terminators are the first thing that drew me towards the Space Marines. I still use them in games today, even if they are not considered "competitive" units
I think a lot of players have "that" unit that they'll use no matter what. It's great if it's good in a particular edition, but even if it's not, there'll be a few. Termies, Squiggoths, Flash Gits, those kinds of units.
I loved this! Terminator armour is perfect in it's chunky-ness and slow but inevitable onslaught. I especially find it amusing how chaos marines in this armour must draw a perverse joy in (according to legend) bearing a part of the Emperor's armour while bringing destruction upon His Imperium.
Traitor terminators don't have it, unless they are wearing a captured suit acquired since the Horus Heresy (or are from a post-Heresy renegade chapter).
My most favourite thing about this here communicate is that we can have a jolly time, friendly discourse and lovely stories, but about an endless war and list of tragedies in an uncaring galaxy and complete with hungry xenos and gods. This macabre absurdity is funny to me.
Terminators are the best space marines to use when you want to annoy someone I find. If you have two squads you can single out sections of your friends army, teleport them infront and behind them you can cut them apart. Also baldermort, I think you called deathwing 'dreadwing'. Was this intentional or is there another game with terminators? Also brilliant vid as always :)
Deathwing was a Heavy Assault unit of the Hexagrammaton of the 1st Legion. The Dreadwing was the 1st Legion's dedicated Purification detachment, Plasma Burners and Heavy Tanks.
The image of the terminator was burned into my brain at a young age. Alongside space marines in power armour, terminators sum up what is 40k for me. I still recall when a classmate brought in an issue of White Dwarf and the front cover had an incredibly angry Blood Angel in terminator armour. This was issue 228, from around 20 years ago. At the time, I had no idea what 40k was and had never seen anything like it in my life. The brutal and unforgiving universe was completely new to me. I read that magazine cover to cover and was amazed at the models, monochrome illustrations and stories set in a dark future. I had no idea there could be something out there so different from the sci fi I was used to.
Even the Baneblade, which is the biggest tank that they have now (I think) was considered a light vehicle during the Dark Age. That means that a heavy or even a MBT would be the size of the P1000 Ratte
I have absolutely loved customizing Terminator armour for my 30K & 40K warbands and armies over the decades since Rogue Trader. With Chaos being the most fun to make and paint for obvious reasons. Thanks for the entertainment, and the memberberries. Have fun.

Most fantastic unit in the Adeptus Astartes. 1) Models look amazing. 2) Make a lot of tactical sense (by 40k standards). 3) One of the definitive reasons we all love Dark Angels Deathwing, as they are the elite among elites. 4) All the best characters wear Terminator armour. 5) Cataphracti were one of the coolest army formations in real history. 6) They each have a tiny piece of the Emperor's own armour in it! 7) Most important of all, Primaris can't wear it! I love the bit in Void Stalker where First Claw steal some Salamander's terminator suits and take a moment to pause and Arnie Smirk (tm) at each other like they've totally won already.
Another great episode Baldermort! Speaking of the golden age of humanity, I was wondering if you would ever do an episode about the war with the Men of Iron? It is an often overlook part of the history and from what I hear that was so massive in scale it made the heresy look like bar brawl.
Terminator armor is so heavy and hard to control that no marine is stupid enough to try and sprint in it because they would literally not be able to stop once they started. I LOVE the hound shaped helmets of terminator armor.
Yea based of the retardation you see in games (DeathWing) you would never know that the speed of a terminator does not exceed a determined strut. There's a fucking REASON that Terminator are always TELEPORTED into the middle of their enemies. Because they are so fucking slow anything besides a building or a planet could just run away from them.
This is now my favourite video that you have released. I just finished painting two squads of Tartaros Terminators. They are terrible in the game, but they look so good. Thanks for sharing.
Warhammer is quickly becoming one of my favorite sci fi fantasy setting because of the lore and the craziness of it. Oh and before I forget long live the emperor!!!
I brought Deathwing Knights since they looked really cool, they turned out to be some of the best units I ever fielded. Won me so many battles! Terminator armour is really amazing!
I play Dark Angels and am a huge fan of their lore. The idea of 100 Terminators taking the field in a blaze of teleportation light alongside ancient Contemptor Dreadnoughts and Cataphractii Terminators brings joy to my heart. I have written it so that a custom Unforgiven Chapter equips almost all their Company Masters with Cataphractii or Induminus pattern Terminator suits. I love myself some Horus Heresy Equipment fighting alongside the Deathwing.
I can help but lament a bit at the sheer heresy that space marine players still do not have datasheets for Apothecary in Terminator Armor. Deathwing and Space Hulk is proof that such units do exists.
Hell Baldermort! Just when i think my day can't get any better! Then yiu go and releasy a video on my favourite item in the 40k universe The totally badass walking tank armour of the Terminator Marines! Crux Terminatus! Thank you friend!
Makes sense why I was instantly drawn to terminator plate. It’s always been my favourite also my favorite models to collect and paint. I have hundreds of them all through out the years from rogue trader to the new stuff both loyalist and traitor but the loyalists are my personal favourite. I’m working on my deathwing army now as I listen!
🤤🥺 I still remember the very first squad of terminators I bought when I was but a geeky 14 year old...during the glory of Third edition (blessed be the third edition, amen) They were by far my favorite models, painted in Black Templars colors! The nostalgia of hearing this and seeing it....makes me let out happy Astartes noises 😁 Also, can you imagine how INSANELY powerful Humanity was during the Golden Age??
I just realized if we want to have cool armor all we have to do is make a suit to get a person to the bottom of the sea and then just modify it for ground combat or space combat.
I do hope that GW in its wisdom creates a line of Primaris Terminators. I honestly can't imagine Warhammer without it. Nor can I imagine that the Imperium would just put these suits out to pasture, such immense religious and symbolic value do they hold, these are the suits that each contain a shard of the Emperor's own armour, after all. Plus that iconic helmet design, just strange enough to be memorable, like a ram's skull cast in tank armour, wonderful stuff. Almost as emblematic of the setting as the Aquila "frownie" helmet.
Love that the very earliest history of the game is acknowledged in this vid. Correct history of the game celebrated as it was and is and always shall be! Those of us who still exist thanks to rejuvenation treatments and augmetic implants salute you Baldermort! We remember exactly what you describe and will never deviate from the Emporer's path.
I am a relatively new fan of 40k and I am currently reading though the Horus Heresy novels... I would love a video explaining a bit about the history and make up of the Emperor's personal armor and that of Horus (possibly some of the other Primarchs like Sanguinius). There is a ton of really great artwork featuring these impressive suits but details can be elusive. Things like the red eyes (Eyes of Terra I think) on Horus's armor aren't really explained well. Many of the Primarchs look to be wearing highly customized terminator armor but don't seem slow or heavy in the same way your standard astartes would be. Anyway, just a thought. Love your content, Baldermort, It's always fascinating.
Alot of the primarchs battleplates were made by the Emperor and his personal artisans. (Fulgrim, Jaghatai, Sanguinius. Corax,) or on their adoptive homeworlds, Vulkan was an excellent smith and made many weapons and artifacts, i believe he must have worked alot on his battleplate aswell, Then there's Perturabo's personal battleplate of the Logos, a cataphractii design he heavily modified with better tactical and integral systems. Both Vulkan and Perturabo were asked more then once to reforge or rework the Armor Of Reason that Guiliman wore during the great crusade. Ferrus Manus had designed his own armor but with more servo tech like additional arms, and support systems. Dorn like the Emperor himself wore armor made from auramite or auric-adamantium, its the same alloy reserved for the custodians and very tough but beautiful. others like Angron bolted on additional stuff to his gladiatorial trappings over time, Mortarion fused his new knowledge of power armor with his own experiences gained from Barbarus design. Magnus could basically will his armor to look however he wanted and be what he wanted as it was warp-based to an extent. and Horus's personal battleplate was called the Serpent's scales, the Eye of Terra was meant to symbolize the warmaster being the Emperor's vigilance for anything that may threaten the Imperium. it would later become the eye of Horus, and later, Chaos.
@@Noxims47314 Thanks for the reply. One of my favorite things about 40k so far is just how deep and rich the lore is. Even seemingly benign details are often fleshed out very thoroughly. I appreciate you taking the time to post and share these details.

1st Wolf Lord Rho uploaded now you uploaded too!!! Thanks for the video!!!
AGREED 100000%
Nothing beats the aesthetic of Terminator armor
You spoil us all Brother Baldermort.
You know I stumbled on your channel on compete accident but I’ve stayed and just eaten up your content. Your quickly turning into one of my favorite warhammer you tubers
My favourite suit of armour, love me termie bois. Looking forward to this one :)
Hope you've been well mate, and again, thanks for all the fantastic content in these stressful times
Great video as always my friend! Hope u are well. Cant wait for the next video.
I love the bit in Void Stalker where First Claw steal some Salamander's terminator suits and take a moment to pause and Arnie Smirk (tm) at each other like they've totally won already.
I already know all the lore you speak of in these videos, I'm watching solely for the dramatic reading in the first half.
they might not be the most competitive choice on tabletop, but damn I love to use them. So iconic !
Great video as always !
Watching your channel grow is satisfying, you deserve success
Absolutely wonderfully done! You never disappoint!
Another great episode Baldermort!
Speaking of the golden age of humanity, I was wondering if you would ever do an episode about the war with the Men of Iron?
It is an often overlook part of the history and from what I hear that was so massive in scale it made the heresy look like bar brawl.
Brilliant as always.
Long may they reign !
Terminator armor is so heavy and hard to control that no marine is stupid enough to try and sprint in it because they would literally not be able to stop once they started.
I LOVE the hound shaped helmets of terminator armor.
Sprint at a barricade, blow through it and its defenders.
Or do large flips and acrobatic combat leaps, if DoW 3 is anything to go by.
Tell that to Gabriel "backflip" Angelos :p
@@Gorbz Yea Relic can take DOW3 and shove it up their ass.
They earned all the criticism and failure that game garnered.
This is now my favourite video that you have released. I just finished painting two squads of Tartaros Terminators. They are terrible in the game, but they look so good. Thanks for sharing.
I just opened the video on 9999 likes and it felt strangely amazing it’s the little things in life.... great work as always baldermort
Balanced Hydra I know. I really do. Sigh. :(.
Hell Baldermort!
Just when i think my day can't get any better!
Then yiu go and releasy a video on my favourite item in the 40k universe
The totally badass walking tank armour of the Terminator Marines!
Brother, this would please the Emperor
We remember exactly what you describe and will never deviate from the Emporer's path.
ah, while I'm waiting for Halo to install, you uploaded a video! This shall be good, as always!
Great video sir.
There's alot of lore on their wargear and battleplate but beware delving too deep if you're still going through the books, have fun.
@@Noxims47314 Thanks for the reply. One of my favorite things about 40k so far is just how deep and rich the lore is. Even seemingly benign details are often fleshed out very thoroughly. I appreciate you taking the time to post and share these details.
@@Amehdion You are most welcome, it is by far my favorite part of the hobby too. the setting is rich with details and stories probably too many for one person to gather up and know even.. and alot of fun to talk about amongst other enthusiasts.
You have an awesome narrators voice that fits really well within this setting. Cheers 😁
Awesome video! I love the way you present the topic :) And I love Terminator Armour^^
Heresy you say? The cure? Tactical. Dreadnaught. Armor.
