@@GingerOfOz Going all in on the "look like an official nintendo product" and I'm here for it. Looking forward to my CC letter written in invisible ink
Ima be honest 1.5k is super expensive for a Wii handheld but given the time and effort you put into them I’m sure they are well worth it if your a hardcore Wii gamer
custom electronics like this is alot like glassblowing. youre paying for all of the messups until the final product. its very easy to mess up a Trimmed Wii board and brick your whole setup. or slip with a soldering iron and mess up your custom painted 3d printed case.
It's a hyper niche market where every single product is made to order, by hand. These handhelds (and really any custom handmade good) literally fall into the same category of market as something like a bespoke custom sports car.
Considering the R&D, hours of assembly that go into the units, and messups along the way; It's not an outrageous price. The sticker shock is real but it is a fair price.
@@Balou_560 nevermind a top end gpu, you could get an entire mid-range prebuilt PC for 1500 that would be able to run basically any emulator in existence
Looking hot!! Nicely done, GingerOfOz. I still remember building my own portable Wii and it is no joke. 1500 Bucks is a fair price for something so special and unique. I can only imagine all the preperation and planning, that went into this thing ;) As always, keep up the good work. I can't wait to see something new from you :)
oh it's on dude. how dare you call me a rotten thief after I FOUND a completely FREE button on the FLOOR. better come to MGC 2025 and take it back before I eat it
This guy is real for dropping all the info on how to build it and pricing. 1500 is a smart price because it'll deter a fair amount of people but help make your life not miserable in having a massive order amount that you alone have to fulfill.
I love this! This is a form factor that is so intriguing to me! As a kid I always wanted my gameboy advance to be able to play my GameCube games, so following your projects has struck such a chord in me! Although it might be some time before I’m able to tackle this project, I’m still attempting to get my ashida build to work :/ Ginger you truly are a wizard!
$1500 is a very fair price, not sure why people are complaining so much. Think of the labor involved and the years of practice it took to get to a point of selling something like this. Also good luck finding anyone else willing to sell portables let alone at the same level of quality of this.
@@fr0nk3nst31nThis is such a stupid argument !! Having money doesn’t negate ridiculous prices just because you can afford it. The prices are absurd regardless of whether you want to flex to internet strangers that you can afford it or not
@supercat2087 You are right, every car should cost $50 because it should not be a flex to own one \s its almost as if goods and servises have a cost, If you are so well versed on building handhelds, start a compeating brand at a lower price point. Heck all the pcbs and 3d models are free to use so you can skip all 4 years of r&d
@@supercat2087 The price is high but pretty reasonable from a labor standpoint. This is not a mass manufactured product. It's a high quality, bespoke, hand-made product with labor intensive assembly and skill from a small business. You can say you wouldn't want to pay for it, but the pricing isn't ridiculous at all.
I'm glad people on internet were nice to you! 1500 USD is totally a understandable price since aside of being a super niche work, it's something you put all your time and care to be a quality product. About the guy in the stream, guess that's at least a cool rare insult
Can't believe it's been that long! I have always wanted to try and build a GBoy / WiiBoy, but just haven't found the time even though I have a lot of spare Wiis! Updated version looks slick and honestly the price isn't crazy considering the time you put into it.
1:46 knowing that the white joycon joysticks come from the switch lite and those are less prone of drifting, you'll be fine and they don't know the difference
I really want to see macho nacho building one once the files go public, anyway, the design looks fantastic, pretty much on par with those fancy fpga consoles
Awesome! Is there a way of buying the custom parts by itself to build by yourself & to avoid the hefty time and labor costs of having someone else do it?
$1500 seems like a great deal for someone to pay you to purchase and assemble everything. I'd guess it's at least a few hundred dollars just for the boards and 3d prints, buying in bulk. Great job!

bro didn't even deny being the kid who sits alone and eats lemons
Ngl that made me laugh 😂
I on the other hand felt called out, as I was that kid 🤣🤣

I'm making a note here:
HUGE SUCCESS.

Can't wait for the normal Wii Boy, which instead has a black and white screen.

Happy to see you are refining your craft man!
Wow, I'm surprised that it's only $1500. Definitely ordering one now for Christmas.
Could buy a top end gpu for that price
It's more like a custom luxury item that nobody else has. It's not comparable.
More comparable to a custom paint job on your vintage motorbike.

The kid who eats lemons is full of endurance and vitamin C. I would be flattered if i was compared to someone like that.
I don't know man, an overdose of vitamin c leads to diarrhea. So maybe he was always alone by himself because he shat himself on multiple occasions?

babe wake up new Ginger Of Oz video just dropped!!
Honestly I don't think the lemon guy was even trying be mean he probably just got flashbacks to the guy who eats lemons and was like "...lemon guy?"
This is my early Christmas present 😢
Awesome job. Glad you improved the original design.
glad to hear from you again
super cool, do you plan on making a new Playstation portable with games in it id buy that for sure
I've always wanted to make a portable Wii but I know the second I finish it Nintendo will add all of the games I want to play to Switch/Switch 2.
Didn't expect cheap, but damn that was some sticker shock. I'm sure it takes many hours.
It finally happened, this looks so incredible in black, and i desperately need it!!
this is flippin awesome!!!! i want to build one, looks like a super fun project.
Wish you posted more often, this channel is so cool!
This is the equivalent of a Wii getting in an accident just to find out some mad scientist turned it into a cyborg to save its life.
has there ever been a ginger of oz video without a pcb way sponser
Wow it’s been four years. Time is flying by so fast. I remember the first one when I was in university
Very impressive work, good sir.
>Super Mario Land 2 idle gameplay
>Super Mario Land 1 song.
But when the world needed him most.... he came back.
Idk why but I didn't expect you to look that much older
I've built an Ashida portable, and that was pretty hard. This is next level dude
