The 1000 Km of Monza 1969, is the last edition to be run on the 10 km circuit. The track was also without chicans (except that in the curves of the Sopraelevata), which will only be introduced from 1972. After this race, the high-speed ring was no longer used for competitive events, except for Some special rehearsals at the Monza Rally. The 1969 race sees the opposition of the two official Ferrari 312 P (Andretti-Amon and P. Rodriguez-Schetty) against the Porsche squadron, which raises four 908 (Siffert-Redman, Herrmann-Ahrens Jr., Elford-Attwood, Schutz -Mitter). Among the other racing cars in the Sport category are Alfa Romeo 33, Lola T70, Alpine A220 and Ford GT40, while the GT class is dominated by the Porsche 911. In total there are 49 grid cars, of which only 18 are able to see The checkered flag after a very challenging race for drivers and riders. In qualifying, Ferrari wins the pole position with Andretti and the third position with Pedro Rodriguez, but in racing they both retire for failures and leave the victory at the Porsche 908 led by Jo Siffert and Brian Redman. Roy Pagliacci's shooting takes place at some of the most spectacular spots in the Monza circuit, such as the Parabolica and the Supraelevata stack, a true symbol of the Monza track. The remarkable presence of the public confirms that the Marche World Championship was able to arouse interest comparable to Formula 1, attracting thousands of enthusiasts.
E' un filmato fantastico! C'ero anch'io a Monza quell'anno, ero solo un ragazzino con tanto dolore nel cuore per la scomparsa di Lorenzo Bandini. Certo che la bellezza delle corse sport prototipi anni 60-70 è ineguagliabile. Ma fa ridere vedere i piloti correre in quelle infami piste cittadine che oggi vanno tanto di moda! Ci mancava pure Roma. Invece di restaurare i gioielli come il banking di Monza si buttano i soldi in eventi senza senso.

@nuccese You are right. Imagine the circuit, when used with the banking, as a figure of 8. In one lap, once they would be on the right hand side of the main straight and turn onto the banking, once they would be on the left hand side and go straight on towards Lesmo. Makes sense?
UA-cam removed the soundtrack because of copyright issues. It was all music, not the original sound of the cars. I only started filming with sound late 1970

@thash1127 I'll try and find out how many degrees but it was more than Talladega, the film does not give a true feeling of how steep it was. I can tell you that it's impossible to climb up on foot without getting down and crawling...

A lot of time i , when i was a boy , cliff up Sopraelevata in the highest point !! vertical ...no limit !!! :)) sometimes with my friends with our little motorcar ( 50cc) along Sopraelevata !! we know where we have to enter from Monza Park ; i conserve also a little piece of Sopraelevata :))

Ti sbagli. Definitivamente 25 aprile 1969. A parte le macchine, basta vedere che si correva sulla pista sopraelevata, questa fu l'ultima volta, appunto 1969.
