Mad respect man. I have no idea how you managed to study all these songs and play them _exactly_ as "written." That's very commendable. I don't know if I could do that. I'm en route to getting good at music, but that level of detail would be stressful for me to shoot for (and it doesn't leave me much wiggle room, but I could be wrong about that). Very professional, very prepared, and mad respect.
Back again. Just wanted to watch a little more, enjoyed your system of creating a rehearsal session in logic here. I do this for my theater gig here in Myrtle Beach and it is most helpful for myself and the band!
Great vid, Mike. As a drum student I'm curious: Did Brady hire a whole backing band for the gig or just drums? Is that more economical for the touring artist or how does that work? Thanks.
This was a special gig being an EP release. If it were just an everyday cover band gig or wedding band or something, I'd probably have to manage my expectations a bit more.
You should try using an apple pencil when charting! It helped me so much, plus you can use different colors/highlights. And also, annoying erasing stops being a thing lol
Love the sound on that board mix! Great tip on putting the whole set in Logic with clicks! I started using Good Notes on the iPad for charts - something like this if you're interested - ua-cam.com/video/9vBvT45526o/v-deo.html
That's a cool app, I should look into it. I always enjoy writing them on paper, but now that I have the newer apple pencil, Im sure a good app would work fine.
fantastic video. I love it - I used "reaper' to cut up my tracks and to mark them cuz it's free and I use "good notes" on the iPad. Goodnotes enables me to chart very quickly {my charting is very similar to yours except for the ipad part} Just because in my given situation, arrangements are always changing on the fly. sometimes I have to double up on the chorus or delete a turnaround after the first chorus - etc. my video may not be as well produced but I certainly hope it can give you options / tools for charting in the future. plus - i love how i can store all my charts in the cloud and can download onto my iphone when I'm in the green room just in case i'm not sure about the arrangement. Thank you for your inspiring videos! ua-cam.com/video/9vBvT45526o/v-deo.html
I love everything about this. Specifically your level of care and professionalism in your preparation. Honestly makes all the difference.
I mostly just love the blooper reel....

I don’t do that for most gigs, but in this case with tracks and an album release it made a lot of sense to get as close as possible.
@@malonedrum Heard and understood.
Very good work!
I have absolutely no musical training, but I love these glimpses into a professional's workflow. Thank you for making this!
Yeah, I do the same with checking out videos relating to other peoples workflows in random careers, especially entrepreneurs.
And you CRUSHED it my dude!! Thank you again!!
Thanks man! Great to play your music, hope to do it again down the road!
Great video Mike!!! Really enjoyed your break down of all that went into it!
@@mikeolson10 pleasure to play with you again!
Mike Malone - likewise!! Hopefully we can do a few more of these!
@@mikeolson10 Agreed!

Thank you!
Click and tracks make preparation so much easier and you showcased how to do it right. Loved this!
Thanks for checking it out!
This has become my favorite drum channel in UA-cam. Love it.
Thanks!
Hi, thanks for the video, was very informative. Just a small detail but your voice is coming panned hard left on the DAW part.
Hmmm, didn't catch that. Wonder if that was something I set it to on accident
Great video Mike! It is very helpful to see your preparation for performance.
I had a lot of fun putting this one together, glad to see it’s still getting consumed by some people!
Love this! One question, if you scan into dropbox can you create a library and then create "playlists" for the charts for a specific gig?
That’s a feature you could do on an app like ForScore, which I use a lot, but Dropbox is really just for file management
Wow, no cases or covers for the drums! 😳. Great information about preparation.
I live a dangerous life I know. Just always a pain to find a place to put them on the gig, just easier to use cheap drums and not drop them.
Awesome insight! (BG music is a bit distracting, but that's nitpicking.) Thanks!
Thanks, the BGM is part of style in video stuff, hate the idea of silence, but fair.

His guitar player was more steady, and the bass player and I were more irregular/hired out.
Nice playing Mr. Malone!
Thanks!
You did awesome! it's always cool to see the whole process. You prepare much better than I would! lol

@@malonedrum Totally makes sense. Great job though! Good hustling :)

I recently got the newer nicer Apple Pencil, so I might. Thanks Mom….
Well done man

Thanks for sharing, been looking for a good app that I could possibly hand write on digital staff paper. Does it have that?
The background music was a distraction.
Sorry, I don’t enjoy the silence and my voice, but been cranking it down more lately so it doesn’t interfere as much.
Yea. Unfortunately, country became very pop-y
I wouldn't say unfortunately, but I can see if it's not your cup of tea, and that's fine too.
dude, these days if u wanna dress "Country", u wear skinny jeans & big floppy looking deck shoes w/a Guns n Roses t-shirt
😅
Can't argue with that.
