Knitting groups are just the best!! If you haven't checked your local library, you absolutely should. I worked in adult services for a while and I "facilitated" a group while I was there. It wasn't structured or anything it was just a normal fiber arts group! Gosh it was so fun. I have so many grandmas now
I'm sure someone else has commented it but just in case: to learn Tunisian crochet, I highly superbly recommend Toni Lipsey's (TL Yarn Crafts on YT) beginner video titled "The Absolute Beginner's Guide to Tunisian Crochet", its the one I learnt from but she does have an updated version from 1 year ago titled "Learn Tunisian Crochet IN 15 MINUTES!". Shes an amazing teacher and really breaks down the process, the movements, the stitch anatomy!! Thanks to her, I'm working on my first temperature blanket in tunisian crochet and its going to be my first wedding anniversary present to my husband (and I, I'm going to love this blanket so much!) I also love your view of these bucket items as a menu, thats so calming to me!
What a lovely set up of video! The ending with the candle and Edith Sitwell quote 😍 Having looked around the Sitwell childhood home, I can imagine some wonderful Christmas celebrations were had there! I haven't been feeling festive at all, but this video really has made me feel all cosy. Getting my house to a level of cosiness is my goal for the Winter. Happy December!
I second the knitting group idea. I wondered if a discord community existed that could facilitate creating such gatherings... 😁 I'm going to love this series! I can see just the care you put in this opening sequence, the music choice... It feels cosy and it's a pleasure to have this cozy chat. I thought about how you said that someone had criticized the color balancing of your videos, but I personally think it's gorgeous, and it's one of the things that make me come back again and again: this warm glow!
Tunisian crochet is amazing, I made 4 nerdy pixel style pillows with the simple stitch for the office in like 7 months. I am still very proud of them but please do be careful, I messed up my left shoulder because I didn't listen to my body while making them and had shoulder pain for 2 years and still sometimes get 'pain days' when I overextend myself. Even with all that headache, it is still my favorite crochet style and makes an amazing drape
Someone else may already have suggested this, but if you're finding your tea gets cold particularly fast in a tea pot you can also gain significant warm tea time by pre-warming the pot if you're not doing that already! I find cold pot+cold mug means the tea gets cold SO fast, but swirling hot water in the pot for 30 seconds (and then using fresh hot water for the tea) makes a huge difference to how long the tea stays hot.
I finally tried Tunisian crochet a couple of weeks ago and fair warning, it is incredibly calming and addictive lol. I'm still figuring out what project to actually make in Tunisian crochet because right now I just have a few random swatches with different stitches laying around.
For your easy-going hikes, it might be a good idea to look for accessible hikes in your area. They usually feature minimal elevation gain and relatively flat trails. For example, the Washington Trails Association has a list of "Barrier-Free Trails" on their website.
I found out about your channel about 2 weeks ago, or whenever you posted the granny square sweater vest video. I had a lot going on: my mom was in the hospital and I was extremely behind in schoolwork. I was beyond stressed out and I didn’t know what to do. I figured I’d watch your video while I worked, and not only did it help me feel better, but you quickly became one of my comfort UA-camrs. I’m so glad to have stumbled across your channel, and I hope you’re doing well 💜💜💜
I hope you are doing well! I hope your mom is in recovery. I hope you’re able to catch up on school work and I hope the stress dies down to a manageable level. I’m sorry you’ve had a tough November. Fingers crossed your December is better!
@ Ah, I forgot to say! My mom is out of the hospital, and she is fully recovered. I have also caught up in all of my schoolwork. It was very stressful for about 2 weeks, but your videos helped me feel better. Thank you so much 💜
I was also so nervous going to my first knitting group! MY LYS hosts 2 a week with different people attending them so I set a time limit for myself (usually an hour) to decide whether I want to stay or leave. It's been a great way to meet new knitters (and really, we were all super awkward our first time going)
Love all this! A knitting group is definitely worth a shot, I'm part of three! One also has a pretty active Discord channel as well as in person meetups. It's nice to have a group of people that share your passion for a craft, and have a stable community you can come back to again and again. I am certain you will all like each other 😊
Thank you for sharing your very thoughtful December Bucket List. Make this winter your most comfy and cozy yet! I too live in a very wet climate. Once I purchased a good raincoat, rain pants and Gortex shoes I found going out walking in the rain could be a pleasant experience. When it's really coming down I might take along my umbrella. I always try to keep in mind that the rain is what keeps our beautiful Pacific Northwest the scrumptious green that my spirit so thrive in. Thanks for the inspiration!
This video is so cozy and cinematic! I loved the intro sequence. Thank you for sharing all your fun and cozy winter ideas! Winter is such a comforting season and the cold reminds me to be mindful of the protection and peace provided by our Lord, Jesus Christ. I hope you all have a blessed Christmas and some stress free knitting ahead of you! Looking forward to more of your amazing videos!
This is such a vibe. Glad you got to do some of the stuff on your list! One of my to-do's during winter is to attend as many craft/artist fairs in my area, especially since I'll be moving away in 1.5 years. I've finally gotten some prints from some of the digital artists I follow on social media! And handmade jewelry! And I'm hoping to finish crocheting my very first sweater!
I cannot wait to see if you make mittens! I also love Aurora. I just saw her this weekend live in Chicago for the third time. I walked down the aisle to A Little Place Called the Moon and our first dance wad to Exist For Love. Our 1-year wedding anniversary was this weekend, so it was just the most perfect way to celebrate
I had an idea when you mentioned making something for Christmas (and because I like mashing many things into one), why not make a pillow with a traditional Norwegian design. That way you'd be knocking several items off your list in one project. Also, definitely get rain pants, and a good pair of boots, that you can fit a pair of warm socks in when needed. In Sweden we say, there is no bad weather, only bad clothes. And layering is key. If you know you're going to keep up the walking, invest in some good gear. It doesn't have to be expensive, but if you can find it, I'd go for a double layer jacket. I have an amazing 3-in-1 jacket from Didriksons with an inner fleece layer and a removeable, waterproof windbreaker layer on the outside, so I can wear it when it's really cold, or remove the inner layer for a thinner jacket, or just wear the fleece sweater on it's own.
I often think of Tunisian as phoe knitting. It's my get out of jail And collect 200 dollars skill- I will Tunisian ANYthing before I begrudgingly knit it. 😅 Mainly because I find the following of patterns boring. So, I design whatever I need. Crochet is easier to frog and continue designing as you go then knitting. All that said, I really want to try miniature Tunisian crochet in the round. But I can't find hooks small enough. I have been on the hunt for double pointed hooks smaller then a 3 for the last two years with no luck. -if anyone knows where I can get some I'd be so pleased to send you one of my crochet critters. I'm at my last resort now: contacting metal smith's, and last 20 I contacted are all too shy to try and make them. Booo! I can't wait for Tunisian to become more popular so some hook sizes are more accessible.
@audreyscrocheting thanks! I really like the stick version instead of non cord loop versions of crochet hooks better. Because I don't have to worry about the cords coming undone in the middle of a project. Or having a bogillion hooks the same size but need this or that notion to be able to use them. But you do have a point. I might find cord versions of hooks in smaller hook sizes. I really want a set from .6-2. that way I can mix crochet styles whenever I make the details for my Amigurmi toys. There are a few AI crochet images that are fake that have inspired me to try to make real versions and I need those tiny hooks to make some of this happen.
Love this video, and what a great idea to make one Christmas decoration per year! If you made a tone in one year, youight not be feeling that style in 5 years, but this way the collection will grow and change with you.
It's summer here, so my knitting plans are slightly different haha. I'm focusing on finishing both of the drop stitch summer tops I started (one is sparkly lilac cotton and the other is a mix of my leftover earthy green wools). And then I'll make another top with the light blue cotton yarn I just bought! I want to learn embroidery soon too (specifically cross stitch and tambour beading).
Such a cozy video! Since your cats seem to be fine with candles (I envy you because my Pippin is hell-bent on singing his whiskers....), you could also try a "Stövchen" or teapot-warmer to keep your tea hot for longer - it's quite common in northern Germany (and Scandinavia as well, I think) and basically a small porcelain stand for your teapot that has a little tealight in it - the heat of the flame keeps tea hot forever. Probably not as cute as a tea cozy though!
Second this! As an avid tea lover and German I have a matching teapot and teapot warmer and it's super cute and so useful! They come in all materials and sizes, I've seen porcelain, metal, pottery...
Every time I thought that had to be the end of the list you would just keep going 😭 I hope you get all if not most of your list checked off! The Christmas decoration plan is exactly what I've been thinking to do, although I'm quite a slow knitter and I have two sweater wips right now so I'm considering just setting aside a month or a few weeks in the near future where I just work on seasonal decorations - something for Christmas, fall, general winter. Might not be until later this winter but I'm having fun looking at different patterns none the less 🥰
Ahhhhh try the knitting group!! I went to one for the 1st time last year and was super shy and nervous and didn't want to go back but stuck with it for about 2 months and then met one of my closet friends through the group! I am now forever grateful for it and we attend together now and also have knit nights at each other's house :)
I love this! I also really like that you included both crafting and non-crafting goals :) So many things that I want to comment on, but just have to say that I LOVE my fingerless gloves! I am a generally cold person, especially in my hands, so they allow me to type and knit as soon as the weather starts getting chilly. Also, I have made that exact tea cozy! It's a very easy pattern, and I'm sure you'd be able to reformat it for your teapot -- it's really straightforward. It also does work -- my tea stays much warmer with the teapot warmer than without! Good luck with your goals this December! :)
Happy December! You’re like my virtual twin wow were into the same things I’m so into all of the things you mentioned btw why don’t you work on two things on your list a day I will do the same 🤗
Love this video so much. Even though I am on the other side of the world and it is soooo hot here (33 degree celcius) I agree about December being the time to not feel pressure. I also want to try Tunisian crochet, I keep meaning to watch TL Yarncrafts videos but also don't want to unlock a new hobby obsession, same with the colour changing crochet! Your idea for a small project is a good plan. Make the teapot, they really do work, I am a beginner and crochet was easier for me to make on that fit my weird shaped teapot. I also am socially anxious and I joined a local crochet circle - I interacted online a bit first and then put my big girl pants on and went to my first group meet up in our local park. It was good and I will probably go again when I can and it isn't as hot as the sun outside! Love your videos
Tip: use china teacups/pots. China keeps the heat longer than clay or porcelain. Btw, I sent you a message on IG and then saw a video where you said you weren’t using it anymore so lol on me. I ought email you. Anyway, that’s my tip for tea. Your plans sound cozy, good luck ❤
For your “going to a Christmas event (but not sure what kind)”, you could look up live theatres in your area that have holiday shows. Most theatres offer same day “rush” tickets that are MUCH more affordable than booking tickets in advance
Thanks for the tip! I want to do that for sure, I haven’t been to the theater in too long. I always loved going to live plays and musicals. I took my mom to “A Christmas Carol” about 5 years ago and I think that’s the last time I saw a play.
@ I love plays and musicals so much, I try to see at least a few every year. Discounted ticket programs definitely help make that possibly and I’m very grateful. I hope you can find something fun to see soon!
ohhh ive been pretty hyperfocused on selbu mittens and as a gift for the first sunday of advent my mom got me yarn and a pattern! i cant wait to start but i only have one set of needles so i will have to wait until my sock is finished D: cant wait to see how yours turn out!
I so enjoy your videos, and I’m not sure if I’ve already told you that! I particularly loved the intro to this one…so cozy and a bit of an artsy vibe. 11:31 At some point, can’t remember exactly what you said, but you made me laugh! I’d love to hear more about your favorite hot chocolate recipe. Just wanted to thank you for these little videos…happy December. By the way, some of your sweater ideas are swoon-worthy!
4:44 Lol I am working on “go to knitting group” part for the last two years and still did not get myself to do it. I have same concerns about not vibing with people there. 😊
I always tease my husband about his 100 item To Do list. Could it be a materials science thing? 😂 In any case, framing it as a menu helps me understand it more. Cuz I am a five-item To Do list kinda gal and anything more overwhelms me. Hope your December is everything you want, and brings you much peace and joy. 🌲✨🎄~ Brenda
Also, I’ve made 3 pairs of Fire Pit Mitts. We keep our house cool, and they are the perfect cozy but not restrictive way to keep my hands warm when I’m scrolling on my phone or typing on my computer.
Same here, I couldn't do a menu, I'd be stressed out all December that I'm not getting to anything 😅 Always fascinating how different people's minds work!
If you're not set on the sweater yet, I really like the look of the new release of the petite knitter, it's called Geologica. It's textured round yoke sweater, I think it would be so fun to knit and quite quick. Also for the decorations that won't take a lot of space, there's a pretty new pattern by Famke from Mipi the Label for a knitted Christmas stocking (it's also free). The kitty cry at the end was so precious, she really wanted those cuddles with dad ❤
Hello! I recall you saying your Big Hug sweater was made with Drops extra fine merino in white? What was the colour and dye lot? I have some in my stash that I have no use for so maybe with any luck they are the same batches?? Gabrielle
Your so sweet. I actually finished it and used up exactly all of my remaining balls. It was so satisfying. I’m also realizing I am probably a dork for never keeping my yarn labels or tracking due lots. I should probably start doing that 😂
If you haven't already, I highly recommend checking out TL Yarn Crafts channel for Tunisian crochet tutorials! She's doing a series of simple stitches recently as a part of an afghan pattern and it would be a great way to try it out! :D (I love Tunisian crochet and learned from her lol)
TL Yarn Crafts is such a major source of inspiration. She’s the only reason I’ve even heard of Tunisian Crochet and she has definitely peaked my interest 🥰
I was going to suggest this too! I'm currently learning tunisian by doing the tunisian sampler CAL blanket. You could pick a couple favourite squares or stitches to make pillow covers instead of the whole blanket and complete your Christmas decoration at the same time
Knitting groups are just the best!! If you haven't checked your local library, you absolutely should. I worked in adult services for a while and I "facilitated" a group while I was there. It wasn't structured or anything it was just a normal fiber arts group! Gosh it was so fun. I have so many grandmas now

Was not expecting that caliber of soft-lit cozy aesthetics in your in/outro; I'm impressed and very tickled
Glad you like it! 😊

You have quickly become my favorite crafting youtuber! So happy to see there'll be a lot of videos this month!
Wow, thank you! 🥹
I love the teapot! It definitely needs a sweater.

So cozy. The menu idea helps me be less overwhelmed, too. 💜

I love Tunisian crochet, highly recommend it. I have learned from Toni of TLYC, she’s a wonderful teacher.

You knocked this one out of the park! Gorgeous video! ❤
Thank you so much!!
I learned Tunisian a week ago, go for it!!! It's esy especially when you know how to knit and crochet
I often think of Tunisian as phoe knitting.
It's my get out of jail And collect 200 dollars skill- I will Tunisian ANYthing before I begrudgingly knit it. 😅
Mainly because I find the following of patterns boring. So, I design whatever I need. Crochet is easier to frog and continue designing as you go then knitting.

@@Michellerosecusack Hobbii sells a 2,5mm tunisian crochet, it's a straight one that cannot be put on a cord though
@audreyscrocheting thanks!
Now that you mention it, I could definitely use some fair isle mittens too.
😂 I’m not hard to convince when it comes to knitting.
0f course they'll like you!
I love my rain skirt
I love your videos they're very soothing and always help me get out of knitting slumps

My bucket list includes knitting a cozy cardigan. 🧶
Hell yea!
I love sending post cards, crocheting the yarnsirations Bobble Holiday Trees and 2025 is all about what I really want to make for me or others! ❤

I adore Italian hot chocolate
I’m also trying to push myself to try a knitting group. Good luck!
I ended up going to one last week and I had a great time! I was so nervous, I almost didn’t go in.
Happy December! Since last year, my town does Christmas tree lighting day near our house and I really like that and looking forward to it.

I’d love to hear more about your favorite hot chocolate recipe. Just wanted to thank you for these little videos…happy December. By the way, some of your sweater ideas are swoon-worthy!
Oh, and I really like the menu idea, rather than a to-do list….you’re giving yourself options from which you can choose what you like!
Thank you so much! I hope you have a happy December ❄️
I ended up casting on the fire pit mitts last weekend and was surprised by how quickly they knit up! I’ve been wearing them on my walks
I just looked up both of those patterns and they’re both stunning!!!
I should probably start doing that 😂
Can you knit the white lace sweater Darryl Hannah wears in Grumpy Old Men?
Are you preheating your teapot? You need to fill it with hot water, empty it, then fill it with just off the boil water to brew.
That’s genius! I should be doing that.
You could pick a couple favourite squares or stitches to make pillow covers instead of the whole blanket and complete your Christmas decoration at the same time
Check out Kakawa Chocolate House in Santa Fe, NM, they sell these amazing chocolate elixirs to make hot chocolate. So good!
