12.6K subscribers and counting - congrats! Love the progress you've made even in this busy season. Cant wait to see the finished Yoga sweater. I love the hemline. I must say, you have the most generous aunts. Lucky girl!
I am so inspired by your chocolate brown color choices and that Yoga sweater! I recently completed a sweater with Wonderfluff and want to caution you that it can grow quite a bit. I end up tossing my sweater in the dryer to shrink 😅
There are countless cowls you could make to accompany your new coat. I hope your yardage works out that you can complete both projects the way you envision. I love your dress progress. Your ability to transform patterns always amaze me. Surprise gift yarn is so fun! Homespun is no fun. I also used it in one of my first projects. Now whenever I see it I skip right past it. Happy planning.
Fun episode Nora! I loved hearing your holiday stories and how different family members relate to your knitting! I’m sure it feels great to see them wear knits you’ve made for them as well as for your aunt to see you embrace and thrive in the craft she began teaching to you 😊
The colour of that yoga sweater looks phenomenal on you!!!! Look at the new Dickie Laura Penrose just published it would be perfect for your new coat. Plus she watches your podcast 😊😊
One of the things that I always appreciate about your finished objects is the way that you show them in motion and show them in a variety of poses. I know that some disabled folks, such as wheelchair users, often appreciate seeing garments when the wearer is sitting. Because you have discussed ways in which you want your podcast to give as much explanation as possible, I thought it might be worth considering adding sitting to your try-ons. I really enjoy how specific all of your videos are and the way you explain your modifications, both the reasons and the implementations.
I appreciate that so so much! Thank you for the advice-I will do my best to add remember that in the future! I will also happily show any specific items that I’ve made in the past if you request them individually!! Thank you for the feedback!!
The browns you’ve been loving all look SO good on you. Making neck warmers to block makeup is actually brilliant and now I’m planning to cast one on just for that! 😅
Thank you!! I just have such a void in my wardrobe of flattering neutrals-I’m happy to finally add them in! I did feel pretty clever with that idea 😂 I ruined my last winter coat with makeup and hope to never do that again!!
What an amazing haul of gift yarn!!! Lucky girl! I am on a big "viking/Nordic/Icelandic" sweater kick right now and that viking yarn is perfect for one of Linka Nueman's sweater patterns! The Dress and the Yoga sweater are turning out great, you always inspire me so much with the patterns you choose to knit! I love the rich browns you're using right now too and also love the finished Artimesia sweater. it turned out sooo good!!!
I am so excited to win! Thanks to you and the designer both. I'm sitting at Peet's knitting right now- my typical Saturday morning with Nora. They tried to teach me to knit in Bluebirds (7yo?) and I remember the awful flamingo pink acrylic yarn. Makes me shudder in recollection.
I'm always a fan of a cowl to use up a random skein or two! They're a great way to practice techniques or do something quick and mindless if you're needing that! I also find them very useful personally, so maybe you could look up some cowl patterns for that new yarn?
Happy Thanksgiving 🥧 🍁🍂!! How lucky are you to have such a beautiful box of yarn came your way. You're aunts are so kind. I'm loving the deep rich brown on you. Happy knitting 💚🧶🩷
lol, “Homespun” yarn gives me the same reaction because it was one of the first yarns I’d ever used, too…the thin strand wound around fuzz drove me nuts 😂
Thanks for sharing your method of going back and finishing the neckline after your ball of yarn ends. That’s a great idea that I will use on my current project! I always come away from your podcasts having learnt something. And your earrings are absolutely gorgeous. I imagine they are very lightweight being moth wings!!
Your artemesia looked amazing for Thanksgiving! I love your new earrings. I hope you have a lot of time to work on your holiday sweater dress. It's going to be beautiful!❤🧶
I love seeing these beautiful sweaters and darker colors. I've got this deep, rich, brown yarn - a sweaters quantity worth, that I've been a little nervous to start something with cause I rarely see patterns with detail in that color. This is encouraging ☺️ Also your moth earrings are so fun!!
Watching your new video and knitting on my „Favourite Fingerless Mittens“ (that you totally influenced me on buying 🥰). For a more comfortable fit I am using 3 rounds of 1by1 ribbing instead of the rolled edge and also 1by1 ribbing on the wrist. Love them! Thanks for the pattern suggestion! Have a lovely weekend! ~Kat
What you've been doing with the purl stitch is called combination knitting and you can find videos on it, but as others have said, you purl through the back loop when you're in the round and still do the yarn in the same manner, I think of it as pulling the yarn from underneath rather than on top. Andrea Mowry has a video on this and talks about it in the round if you want an example of it.
I enjoy your podcast immensely, not only your bubbly upbeat personality, but also your down to earthiness, and you intelligence in how to change patterns to fit you. I do have a question on the boucle, do you find it hard to knit with? Catching the "curls" in your needles? Also, you may have tried this already, but the try it on tubing will "suction" on to the tip of your needle and then you can basically push/pull the needle with the tubing through the garment. To me it is much easier than moving each stitch. :)
Happy Thanksgiving! Congrats to the winner!!! I literally had to pause your episode and go buy the pattern👏🏻👏🏻 my yarn is on its way…I CANNOT wait to start this project!!!! I hope Emma gets so much love from everyone for this release!!
Loved this episode and you looked absolutely stunning in your Thanksgiving day outfit. To be honest I just want you to come and live with me so that you can do my hair every day 😂😂
Hello Nora! Looking at your dress knit I was wondering if your cables were going all in the same direction. For some reason on tv it looks like the row before the armholes doesn’t twist the same as the ones above. I hope I’m wrong. Your knits are beautiful 🤩 continue the great work you do. 😊
You might also check out the Chinese waitress bind off for the mitts… would match the rolled edge well I think and should be stretchy enough…and possibly the Chinese waitress cast on too
Oh I forgot there is a great skirt pattern called Belle Star by berocco design team that uses the flat ribbon yarn. You could do it without the fringe if you like that better. I have seen it knit up long and it looks amazing
Yes maybe it would make sense to get cord extensions, but then where would us listeners be? “Cord Extensions and Chat” doesn’t roll off the tongue quite like “Try-It-On Tubing and Chat.” 😜💖
I think you might be doing a Russian purl on your cable knit - I'm pretty sure that Irina from Fiber Chats made a video or two about how she does hers. Also, for the ribbon yarn, I made a tank top a few years back & used the ribbon for the icord straps & some of the trim - it turned out really cute.
Nora I just have to say this...are you using a filter or is your skin really that perfect? Please share your skin care routine to get that perfectly smooth and gorgeous skin.
Oh my goodness what a compliment!! Thank you!! I never use filters on my videos! I also don’t have perfect skin-trust me! Good lighting makes a world of difference! You can probably tell in some of my try-on clips that I have quite a bit of acne scarring on my cheeks. I go through ups and downs with my skin but almost always would attribute it looking best on video to the lighting! That being said, I also love my Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation to cover those pesky scars and I am pretty exclusive to LaRoche Posay skincare as well as Aquaphor! I say keep it simple and drink water!! 💛
You can correct the twisted stitches on the front side of the fabric. To tighten my pesky side purls I just yank on my yarn 🤣 and then after the first knit of the cable I give it an extra tug to get rid of any of the extra yarn
Happy Thanksgiving and thanks so much for sharing the sales. I noticed the Knit Picks yarn is in sport weight and the pattern calls for worsted, will you be holding them double? I'm shopping as we speak 😂 and am considering buying the amount I need X2 to hopefully get gauge. Edited to ask: How difficult would this yarn be to work with holding it double? I've never worked with it before. Thanks!
I am so glad you mentioned this because I had not even noticed that in my excitement 😅 I do think that it would work best if held double! I have found that knitting with boucle on larger needles (as the artemisia sweater is), there’s not as much of an issue of loops getting caught on the needle tip! It takes a little adjusting, but I was knitting without looking by the time I was knitting the body!! Hope that helps!
Thank you, Nora. This episode was so enjoyable. And your Aunt is so sweet to gift you such gorgeous yarns!
12.6K subscribers and counting - congrats! Love the progress you've made even in this busy season. Cant wait to see the finished Yoga sweater. I love the hemline. I must say, you have the most generous aunts. Lucky girl!
Thank you thank you!! I do have the most generous Aunts and overall amazing family 🥰 I’m a lucky girl
I am so inspired by your chocolate brown color choices and that Yoga sweater! I recently completed a sweater with Wonderfluff and want to caution you that it can grow quite a bit. I end up tossing my sweater in the dryer to shrink 😅

I’m so glad you enjoyed! Thank you!! It’s definitely cool to see the family tradition progress in such a different way!! 🥰
Your Favourite Fingerless Mittens are the cutest! I love your yarn pairing and thrilled that you're enjoying knitting on them. ❤❤ ❤
I'm loving your brown era. Laura Penrose has just brought out a new pattern Midland Neck (Dickie) which would be lovely under your new coat. 😃
The colour of that yoga sweater looks phenomenal on you!!!! Look at the new Dickie Laura Penrose just published it would be perfect for your new coat. Plus she watches your podcast 😊😊
Yes I was just thinking about this pattern! It's not cold enough where I live for a dickie, but I love the way this one looks
Ditto! That pattern is perfect!
I've just finished my Stitches sweater and I absolutely love it! Loved knitting it too ❤xx
That’s so exciting!! I definitely want to make it in the new year!

Hurrray finally I can start my sweater in boucle 👏👏👏
So many fun yarns. I have a love hate relationship with homespun house. 😉

Thank you Nora for another great podcast. Always good to see the lovely things you make. See you next time.
OMG! The Dickie to block the makeup from getting on your coat is SUCH a smart idea!
Happy Thanksgiving 🥧 🍁🍂!! How lucky are you to have such a beautiful box of yarn came your way. You're aunts are so kind. I'm loving the deep rich brown on you. Happy knitting 💚🧶🩷
OH MY GOODNESS..I believe I met your aunt last time I was in Asheville at that shop! What a small world!
How funny is that!! Such a small world!!
That dark brown is a stunning colour on you💖!!
Thank you so much!
Grayling -more length is the more weight so it may pull the entire neckline down so definitely think waiting on the neckline is for the best
Look like you enjoy brown sweater a lot 😊Happy to see i'm not the only one who knit a lot of the same color :P
lol, “Homespun” yarn gives me the same reaction because it was one of the first yarns I’d ever used, too…the thin strand wound around fuzz drove me nuts 😂
😂😂 I just remember having twice as many stitches on my needle as I was supposed to when I finished my first row
I don’t look good in brown but after seeing all your brown projects this season it has me wanting to knit a chocolate brown sweater!
The pattern you used for your aunt’s scarf may be a good choice for the ribbon yarn.
Yes a redemption project would be such fun Enjoy the yarn there is more coming your way as I go through my stash. Love you
Woohoo!! Love you thank you again 💛

Fun episode! Cable beginners? Jason’s cashmere hat is a free pattern that is a great intro to cables. Just from my experience.

Omg I’m going to NC next week. I need to detour to visit that yarn shop
It's located in the Grove Arcade in Asheville. After the hurricane, Asheville really needs visitors to support the economy.
@@lauriehuttunen4202 I have family who were severely impacted in the storm in the Asheville area so I fully agree
I'm usually team folded collar but I think having a slouchy turtle neck would really work with the casual, oversized fit of the dress

Congratulations to the winner 🎉

I see the same thing! Hoping it is just an optical illusion!
Yes! I see it too.
Your moth wing earrings fall nicely on the turtleneck of the yoga sweater
Thank you!!
I thought you were going to say another stripe hype for the new colors you got for your Aunt! Might be another good mindless knitting project too!
I totally agree!!
You might also check out the Chinese waitress bind off for the mitts… would match the rolled edge well I think and should be stretchy enough…and possibly the Chinese waitress cast on too

schaffhauser wool is a swiss wool company and the one you showed is a vintage yarn. the company stopped producing in 1991.
Wow so so cool!!

What would you recommend to go with the bubbly boucle from Knitpicks?
The pattern suggests something like a silk mohair held double, but I would choose more of a dk weight wool for contrast!!
Thank you! I bought the pattern but was a little confused on that!
I love you❤🎉😊🐍🐍🐍🐍🦖🦕🐌🕸🥧🥧🍂🍁😘😘 - My son wanted to write you a note because in his words “you're so pretty and happy”
Oh my goodness this made my day BIG TIME! 💛💛💛 thank you! 🐻🦥🦦
You can just purl through the back loop to tighten up that stitch
Happy Thanksgiving and thanks so much for sharing the sales. I noticed the Knit Picks yarn is in sport weight and the pattern calls for worsted, will you be holding them double? @akaNoraKnits That does help. Thank you!
Check out Laura Penrose’s midland neck pattern. It’s a dickie type thing with a cowl neck.
Fantastic! Thank you for the suggestion!!
Lo❤e that chocolate on you.
Look at the Bridget dress by loopy mango for the ribbon yarn! 🧶 ❤
Edit: there’s also a top depending on how much yarn you have 😉
