In the vast, uncharted world of UA-cam comments, there exists a peculiar subset of commentary: the knitting and crochet aficionados. Armed with nothing more than needles, yarn, and an opinion, a brave few have ventured into the comment section of my earlier videos. They leave behind a tapestry of wit, wisdom, and downright bewilderment. ❊❊❊❊❊❊❊❊❊❊❊❊❊❊❊❊❊❊ Ravelry: www.ravelry.com/people/Breathi...

KNITTING for my STUPID MENTAL HEALTH

KNITTING for my STUPID MENTAL HEALTH
I've had the Witching Hour in my favorites for a while. Love it
If you have interchangeable needles, you don’t need stitch holders. Interchangeable cords come with a cord connector. Simply take your needles off the working cord, add a cord stopper on one end and a cord connector with another cord on another and now your stitches are on a line long enough to try on your sweater. No need to thread anything else through them and you can go back to knitting quickly after by just putting your tips back on
It's interesting you raise the idea about fast fashion pushing itself into the knitting and crochet community. I remember seeing something a couple of years ago saying that home sewing is becoming the new fast fashion and it was quite a good point - people get into handicrafts and handmaking things to avoid buying fast fashion, but are now doing it excessively. I'm guilty of it as well
33:41 You can make pompoms with cardboard / tick paper, i am sure there are tutorials out there, in case anyone needs to make one PS. Love your approach, mine is similar with the 2 exceptions: - i love to have my sewing snippers - much quicker too use than scissors (but i sew too, so i have them anyway) - i have several sets of needles, for various reasons (for some yarns i need more slippery needles, for example for linen or donegal tweed in a bobin; for some you need wooden non slippery ones (for example for silk). Also i tend to have 5-7 wips at the same time (otherwise i get bored) and i prefer not to switch needles back and force. But that convenience is something I could budget for.
I tie a rubberband around my needles to prevent my work slipping off. Does the job and costs nothing
49:36 yeahhh my wedding ring was 15$ too lol
I don’t know you but I want to be friends 😅 subscribed.
Have you ever watched Amelie? It's one of my favorites.
The tapestry designs are the wall pictures from the elevator in Disney's Haunted Mansion! Very cool ideas for crochet.
Thank you for one more person who appreciates having the photo up long enough to see what the pattern looks like! These are fantastic patterns. Love them all. New sub here. 🧶
!!! I love your halibut sweater!! I made the cowl a while back and I'm really interested in making the sweater or cardigan as well
Also, one of the drapiest yarns I've personally used is Ella Rae's Cozy alpaca. I think it MIGHT be discontinued, but I've seen a ton of stock in some LYS's and on ravelry
Can I share my Halloween Pinterest board with you
I can define relate to being more outspoken ever since I started making videos on UA-cam. I'm making my first knit dress while watching this video and I love it, the lighting and your style is unique. I always feel strangely shy whenever someone I know tells me they saw my content online. In my head I'm like " You were not supposed to see that. "
When I started crocheting again, I asked my mom for old yarn to get back into it. Then i bought stuff from Hobby Lobby, and now I finally splurged (while on vacation) on hand dyed yarn
Thank you for the warning! I get so frustrated with splitting yarns, so will avoid the bouclé! Wonderful, friendly video! I felt welcome into your space and you chatted like an excited BF! And I have those days too. Yep it’s your brain. To me you look the same gorgeous person. The comfort sweater is beautiful! Also I am coming off a year’s recovery from complete burnout. During which I found out I am autistic and adhd. Now I am finally rising again and laughing daily with my walking friend - which honestly was the best medicine for my introverted, isolating self. Weaving/knitting darning? You do you. Fibre is fibre.
I’d never used a needle size gauge either until recently (in 15 years as a knitter). As I get older I’m noticing my eyes are not what they used to be lol. I’m having trouble seeing the size etched on my needles. Also, I have that horizontal ball winder and I HATE IT! 😂
Pippin's sleepy face !!🥺
For now on I need you to make all of your videos with your cats on the screen like you had at 46 minutes. I'd watch all of them at least three times and have no idea what you talked about. 😂
Also love the lykke needles. I really enjoy making socks, but struggle with finishing any other kind of project.
Very pretty the sweater for you mom. I am curious where is from the needle set you use? ❤
It’s just a cheap set from Amazon I got years ago. It’s been discontinued since. I talk more about it in my Essentials vs. Extras video a few months ago :)
Thank you - I also cannot stand the photo flashers. Especially as they continue to talk about details - lemme see the details you speak of.
this is such a good video, thank you!
Ngl, I said Pippin for all of them because I cannot tell them apart. 😅
You never having eaten mango before is blowing my mind! Glad you enjoyed it (it is the best fruit)
I just stumbled upon your channel and I love your calm way of relating things and not needing to be in the rat race of social media craze and all that. I really resonate. Thank you for sharing things in such a thoughtfull way. I came for the knitting, staying for the ambience and lovely calm personality <3
Someone being classified as being either a casual versus committed kidnap victim is an absolutely delightful way to refer to people, and I'm going to pop that right into the long term storage of my mind next to that historical romance novel where the lead lady's prime virtue as a wife was being difficult to kidnap.
9:14 i put my tiny bird scissors on a chain and wear them as jewelry so theyre always on hand without taking up space or being otherwise obtrusive
That’s a brilliant idea!
Your stream of consciousness about appearance and wedding ring is totally like the bugs bunny - roadrunner thing that sometimes goes on in my head. BTW, being married is in your heart, not on your hand, for everyone that might be concerned about whether you are wearing your ring or not. I wear my husband's ring, resized to fit me after catching mine on freaking everything. I also have an anniversary band that I wear. Anyway, he doesn't wear one at all and we've been married for 33 years. LOL, kidnapped....you are not going to be kidnapped because you could stab them with your knitting needles or scissors. They would need a totally prethought plan for any knitter. Also, boucle is the devil of yarn for someone that likes smallish needles. Just my opinion. Loved your video. I knew that there was something that just drew me to watch you. Now I get at least part of it, roadrunner in the brain & from the midwest (neighbor across the river to your east). I mean that in the most lovely way possible. Take care and have a really good week. 💗
Awweee, you take care as well! Are you from Wisconsin? I lived there for a few years. I miss it.
@@BreathingYarn Yes, Wisconsin all my life. I like it because it the landscape is so diverse, from farmland to towns that have almost a seaside feel, to metropolitan areas. Also some of the best foody options. You can't get better for farm to table than the midwest.
Thank you. I love your process.
Your haircut looks so good!! I also have an undercut right now and love it, it really suits you ☺️
I had an undercut in high school and loved it so I was due for another. It’s just such an easy hairstyle.
I'm so happy to have found you. You talked about my feelings of the topics you covered. Thank you.
You've Got Mail is a favorite movie; it always reminds me of fall even though the movie goes through almost an entire year from early fall to late spring/early summer. Looking forward to more journaling content. For journaling ideas, treat it as your "everything, whatever" scratch paper. Grocery list? Write it down. Write out basic points for a conversation you want to have with someone. Write a letter to a friend or your husband or your cat (even if it is a rough draft). Copy down a line of poetry that really grabs hold of you, or a line from whatever book you're reading or from the movies that you are watching. Write down your knitting plans, or gift knit ideas. Add sermon notes if that and church is your thing. If you are planning a vacation, write down your packing list. Doodle a picture of your cats. Get one of those Instax or whatever is similar to polaroid and take photos to paste/tape in the journal.
I think I’m due for stepping up (stepping down?) my journal game. I love the idea of making it more casual. I’ve started using some pages as a day planner and I think it’ll be kinda cool one day to look back at what a grocery list in my 20s looked like or what I did in a day.
Your cat looks like she or he is in love wth you ♥_♥ So CUTE!!!! Cool video ♥
I have two (basically identical) lady black cats. They’re both the sweetest things, i don’t deserve them. Although, Pippin poops in the bathtub sometimes and Merry likes to shred toilet paper so maybe they’re only a little bit better than I deserve 😂
@@BreathingYarn I`m melting ♥_♥ They are only furry babys ♥♥♥♥
The love letter top by kutavakika. Or veronica
Love that design!
For pattern recommendations I plug the yarn that I have in to ravelry and see what other people have done with that yarn.
I have the yarn ball winder you suggested wasn't very good, and I couldn't agree more. It's terrible! I've never owned any other yarn winder and I can still tell that it sucks. (I don't own a swift; I buy yarn exclusively from thrift stores and it frequently comes in balls. I like to turn everything into nice, consistent, center-pull cakes)
The v on that sweater isn’t going to be too deep once you get the ribbing on it. It will be two inches wide at least. It will look great. Just my thoughts
For sure! But this pattern was for an icord edge so it only gave me about 1/2” but luckily it worked out to be the perfect depth! 😊
How do you see the stitches in the fuzzy yarn to count gauge 😮 I feel like I can never see it 😂.
I like to poke the top of my needle through the stitches to feel them out. It’s definitely not as easy as I’d like it to be 😂
I agree with your points. Oddly, I own a lot of these! But I’m a serious crafter and want this stuff.
Loving the undercut - been rocking mine since 2009! Also, you are blessed with the cutest cats, mine are so aloof in comparison!
I got lucky with my girls 🐈⬛ 🐈⬛ 🥰
Hannah is amazing. You’ll never stop! 💜
Ok had to measure my tiny baby hands and my line is 6.5 but I'm 5'5" so I've got tiny hands and size 10.5 men's shoes.... Hobbit feets Anyway had to be random too.... Love this video! Gave me motivation to finish my wips❤
That’s hilarious! I love it 😆
if you want to have more conversations with strangers just go any public location in a small town in rural south. i get things said to me way more than up in central ohio. the farm folk love to talk. (theres also only 1000 people in the whole of the town i moved to so i guess theyre just like "ah yeah everyones pals")
That reminds me of my family. All farmers and all talk 😂 My uncles favorite activity is going up to strangers and trying to figure out the connection (if they’re related or had the same boss, anything). Do you like the south?
Wait that road trip hour question is valid. 8-10 if you're tag-teaming. 4-8 if you're going solo. This is perfect for multiple stops at different rest points or hotels for a soft bitch like me lol.
I need a “certified soft bitch” sweater 😂
Awesome video! Thanks for the great research and the chill casual vibe. 😊💖🧶
Ahhh Harriett and Alice is my fav!!
Thank you for this video. I think you are the most spontaneous knit-tuber I follow. Now, I want to do a sweater with bouclé and merino too. Also, could you share your DPN needle brand, please? I am searching for DNP wooden needles that make sense.
I’ve been using Lykke. I like them but I haven’t tried anything else so I have no idea if there are better ones. I know I’ve been recommended Knit Picks wooden DPNs a lot!
Also, spontaneous is just about my favorite compliment!
@@BreathingYarn 💚
@@BreathingYarn thank you for replying, I'll try them. I used the KnitPro but I don't recommend them. Also I have a Neko Flex. They are a German company, this product is quite (pricey) intersting. But I like to try different options.
Hi Isabella 👋 First video I saw from you. And even though I mainly crochet and there was ofc a lot of knitting stuff I agree to many things 💚 Since I'm someone who learnt crocheting (and knitting) in grammar school and since then was always on and off of that hobby but only easy stuff (or let us say more easy stuff, I sometimes underestimate my ""skills""), I have no influencer bubble. I only search for some stiches or sometimes ornaments or stuff, skip through the videos, try to understand what I have to do and whether it's something I want to do lol. I could take photos of all the weird cheap bags and cardboards and anything where I store my stuff 😅 I still have that 30yo small green velvet bag with a lady bug on the outside from school ^^ I mean *absolutely* necessary to me are needles and yarn. That's it. Things I really don't want to miss: Needles to weave the ends. Neck light thingy (I don't use it always. Though I frequently work with dark chenille yarn and I highly recommend: flood your chenille project with light like a football stadium 😂). And I like my scissor lol even though I just had to use my "postage knife" the other day bc it was directly available next to me. But I like the small, handy size and that it's actually always around my project(s). Things I don't have: stitch markers. I always think when they're on sale, ah come on, get them... and then I still end up with a piece of yarn I weave in ^^ though like you said: It's more a knitting thing. Maybe when the yarn is extra fine and not twilled etc. it might be useful to recognize the end/beginning more easily with a small/handy marker. I had to buy a new needle to crochet super bulky yarn (15mm) and treated myself with an ergonomic one. ... and I have to say: I directly ordered a second needle (7mm) for another project even though I also have a set like you with 9 needles or so. But hell, they feel def. different and for projects you'll work a few hours in a row it makes a difference imo. It's actually not necessarily the shape itself it’s the length (that's what she said 😂) that makes it more comfortable to me. Bc the end doesn't poke my hand anymore. And with small projects like a small bag or basket or something it’s not a big deal. But with projects that takes more time and "strength" it makes a huge difference imo. So, yup, fitting needles, yarn, light, needles to weave the ends (I also always used just a crochet needle, but they are def. more handy), and scissor (singular. No need of a collection 😅).
I got so excited for knitting asmr talking to pippin...if you ever wanted to do that I would not be upset. But for now I must search for knitting asmr
I never thought to look for knitting asmr! I’ve been busy watching Gibi’s ASMR Shrek this week, but her Bee movie is my favorite ASMR of all time.
Me- tad over 7 inches 🖐️, that's so cute
