Happy New Year everyone 🎉🎉 it was great to get away and Qingdao was a perfect place to explore in a last minute get away… This would be a great City live
I live in Qingdao for more than 30 years... its cold now, though maybe not as cold as beijing. I havent ridden my motorcycle or fished on a boat for at least half a month, these are two of my favorite things. I really like the warm days more.
The skyline looks like some parts of Miami, Florida. And looks expensive. What a wonderful to visit. Man, you living it up. I like some grilled seafood and beer.
I have to say the coffee cups are beautiful🤭, I hope it looked as good as it tasted. Happy New Year Ian and wishing you and your love ones the very best of health!
Is this the first time you have been? It’s a great place and the kids will love it. Northern Ireland, it has been so long since I have been there. A great place 👍
I didn’t get the time… I seen it online and it looks historically very interesting with great architecture. I will definitely get there when I come back to Qingdao. ❤️ ✌️
The May fourth movement is one of the most important events in modern Chinese histories. The movement at that stage was not only due to territorial disputes, but more out of anger at the government's incompetence, corruption, and oppression of the people. At that time the China is still in the warlord period, provinces were controlled by warlords with their armies. Although affiliated with the Nanjing Government, they are actually independent political entities. Lots of students, workers, left-wing writers and leaders were arrested and executed at that time. The May fourth movement is also considered as a major event of the new cultural movement. The new cultural movement is similar to the Enlightenment in Europe. It mainly includes the innovation and reform of Chinese literature and thoughts, and also the absorption and acceptance of European thoughts. The modern Chinese culture was shaped at that period of time. Modern Chinese literature and grammar, pinyin, simplified Chinese, all aimed at promoting Chinese and emancipating the mind come from this. Famous writers like Lu Xun, Hu Shi, Chen Du Xiu, Li Da Zhao were mostly active during that time. They are like the Chinese Rousseau, Montesquieu, Hegel. Two main slogans put forward in the New Culture Movement are Mr. De and Mr. Sai (Chinese pronounce), they are the abbreviation of Mr. Democracy and Mr. Science. Western ideas have been widely translated, disseminated and localized because of the desire to save the country and wake the people. One of the ideas is Marxism. This movement has influenced so many people and is the cornerstone of modern China. The Chinese communist party and other parties were later established and the leftists in China soon picked their sides. The former president Jiang Ze Ming, who died last month was one of the student protestors in the May forth movement. Generally speaking, the May 4th movement is regarded as an important historical event and a symbol for thought liberation, cultural innovation and national salvation. That's why it is so remarkable in China. I may not explain it clear enough and sorry for that.😂I found the English wiki's explanation of this movement is not very clear, if you want to know more, it may be better to use the Chinese wiki and auto translate. I am a Chinese student currently study in the United States. Your videos are always an ease for my homesickness. Thank you for your videos and happy new year!🥳🥳🥳
Thank you for this comment - you have taught me so much just by taking the time to write this and share. I will dig further and go deeper on this important cultural part of Chinese history. Enjoy your studies and keep going, both my son and daughter are studying at the moment and I know how tough it is through their experiences. You are doing great and I know you miss home, I have not been home for three years, but when you get the chance to finish your studies and go further in life you will be thankful of your time studying. If I could ever give advice, like I give my son and daughter, then that is to never stop studying. Life is great if you run at it with all your energy, you feel like someone who will do that. I wish you all the best for the New Year and let me know if there is anything I can video that might help you ride out the homesick. Stay strong and good luck my friend. ❤️

Hi Pieter, I am not sure but I know they are expensive. Rent is around £2,500 per month or above… this is a well sought after area. There are some apps that can show you the prices to buy or rent and it is always interesting to see the variance in some areas. Beach front, like any area, is super expensive
I lived pretty close to Busan (5 years) a decade ago. It’s definitely worth visiting, lots of coffee shops, places to get bbq sliced pork (Samgyupsal), go hiking in the mountains.

Qingdao is beautiful but an island sounds good too!! What island?

There is another beach in Shandong 'Golden Sand Beach' where it is located near the Beer Festival village. Happy New Year everyone!
I didn’t make it to that area but I seen it online, definitely somewhere I need to visit. Shandong province has so much to offer. 👍 ❤️ ✌️
Maybe next time you can go there during Beer Festival.
@@chowch6603 I hear that is a big event, I think that will be awesome to see. 👍
I've noticed one thing, there isn't a single piece of trash as far as I can see on the beach.
Yep, it was very clean and the city was also so well looked after. 👍

That's the golden shore isn't it, when I was in high school we used to take the double decked bus along the beach to go home every Friday
That would have been a great bus ride ❤️
Ive swam from the Hyatt building to the far tip the left of your screen. The water was so calm unlike the Pacific Ocean in Santa Monica Los Angeles.
That is cool, I am guessing that it was during the summer. Was the water warm?
Love the sea side. Will have to pay a visit sometimes. In fact, I'd love to go around the sea side cities..
That would be a great idea to do 👍 ❤️
Happy New Year 🎉🎈🎈🎈
Happy New Year Darren and all the Best for 2023 🎉 👍
Did you go to the Old Town? I believe that area is the Qingdao at its best.

Dude! You literally pointed to my apartment ... and yes the view is spectacular in the morning.
Lucky man, that is some view and a beautiful place to live 👍🏼
Is it a must to wear a mask there ? Or we can also enjoy to breath the air unmasked ?
No need to wear masks now... it is a good fresh air city as it is next to the sea. 👍🏻

Roughly what's the average rent/month for a two bedroom place in a decent area there?
It can be varied, depends where you want to live. Some cities it can be ~£300 a month and places like Beijing well over £1,000 and then some..
