Read the instructions then watched this video, the video was way better on the process.
Aussies still have their love for Muscle Cars and Z Grill cooking. If that isn't heaven.......
The first error code I got would have taken me an hour to figure out (have to turn on in shutdown setting)…. Thank you - This was a big help.
You're welcome!
What is it about Aussies that makes me want to listen intensely? What we perceived as an accent is so awesome! Good job mate!
Just ordered my first zgrill. Thanks for the tutorial!
I'd suggest a second version of this for the wireless version would probably be a good step.
I followed this mostly but then had to ask a question in the facebook chat (Which was very quickly answered) to complete the burn in.
See here mate full instructions for the wireless: help.zgrills.com.au/knowledge-base/700e-xl-wireless-first-time-use/
Not long ago I ordered 6002e. I'm looking forward to it
One at home...Love it!
Just watch this instead of reading the guide so much clearer lol
Just got one for Father’s Day this video makes more since then reading the manual lol.
The manual stinks
Just picked up mine this weekend. Amazing quality for the price.
Great video and very informative👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼Thank you
Thank you so much for posting these instructional videos! Made start up and initial burn off so easy!
could of watched it from an American channel but that wouldve been boring
thanks again Australia
Is this every time you start the smoker or just first time. If not, what is the process for beginning a smoking process on a used z geill smoker
This MARINE is not a Dumb-Ass : I set the dial at 225F but my temperature reads 14F / thus the grill is running at 475 F + and inside the pellet box at 350F. I keep my grill tight and clean. By the way, i have all the equipment to test the temperture reading.
Question….I usually vacuum out all the pellets from the hopper. Should also the burn out the rest of the pellets in the hopper? Or can I just leave them in there until the next time? And at the end of the season burn off the rest?
You can leave for the next time - only need to run right down every few bags, or if very dusty, but you already have very good habits. Maybe check this article out: help.zgrills.com.au/knowledge-base/wood-pellet-faqs/
Is it the same for all models? I’m gonna be getting the 7002F here soon. That model sounds amazing.
Same basic process for all Z Grills models yes.
@@zgrillsaustralia4541 thank you! Also was wondering, can a Z Grills grill smoke at 195-200F?
Can you do the initial burn off at high for 45 mins and then set it down to smoke until it gets to 225 or so and start your cooking or do you need to give it time after the initial burn in?
You can immediately start cooking after burning in, but make sure you wipe down the grill racks with moist cloth before placing on food as they will have a layer of dirty smoke on them.
I just did this using the manual and he is not following the instructions, don't know if it matters, but I just didn't want any problems with the grill when it comes time to use it... there are a few who give it a bad review on Amazon, maybe they did not burn it in correctly.
I have the power button on and dial turned to shut down cycle. I turn the dial to smoke and it reads er2... Seems like the opposite of what should be happening
help.zgrills.com.au/knowledge-base/er2-controller-error/
When I start up my grill, I’ve only used it 4x. It says er1 when started up. It’s worked great until now?? The booklet says the probe isn’t inserted all the way in the plug, but their both plugged in.. any help would be great thank u
Hi mate if ER1 persists it could be the connection into the back of the controller is loose, the cable has been damaged at some point or temp sensor issue. Please contact your local support team (this is Australian team). zgrills.com.au for Australia, zgrills.com for the US, and local dealers for other countries.
Is black pouder paint on a lid safe for food, or better to get stainless steel lid ?
Yes mate.
Now it’s saying He1 in the booklet that means high temp error. But it’s just starting up
Where are you located? See info on the errors here: help.zgrills.com.au/knowledge-base/z-grills-smoker-troubleshooting/#errors-ler-her-er1-er2
Just bought one and assembled, went to do this and automatically got an er1 code on display, guess I’m calling on Monday guess I’m not making my pork shoulder
Hi mate - double check the thin temperature sensor cable between the hopper and drum is plugged in correct (depending on he model). If. you are in the US, check the Z Grills US Facebook group for help too.
@@zgrillsaustralia4541 I was able to exchange it out with a new one at my local store I’ve used it twice now and I love it I found that it was the pins pulling out of the plug on the old one
Accidentally did my 45 minutes at 375 instead of high, will be okay?
As long as there wasn’t any more smoke coming off, meaning the oil is all burnt off the baffle and grease tray then should be fine. Just touch them and see if clean or any oil on the surface. If in doubt run up to 200+ oC for 10-15min.
@@michaelhumphreys7496 awesome thank you so much. I adjusted it to high and it’s currently been about 15 minutes since I’ve done so. Will now probably finish the rest of the process, thanks!!
shouldnt you do this outdoors? not indoors?
Yes correct but too bright outside for the video. Big roller doors both ends of the garage were open for excellent air flow.
No pellets are coming through when it’s on high
Just make sure the auger is slowly turning. Can take 5-7min for them to come through.
Ok so to use it, set it to smoke 10 minutes then turn off for 10 minutes, then set it to high for 45 minutes, then to off for 10, then smoke for 10? ... when do I start using it? Seems a little confusing 🤣🤣 please help
Check out the step by step instructions here: help.zgrills.com.au/knowledge-base/z-grills-initial-burn-in/
@@michaelhumphreys7496 thanks I think I get it now. Everytime I have to use it, I have to let it smoke first, then set it to high for 45 minutes. Can I not just set it to high at the beginning before setting the smoke? What does the smoke do before setting it to high?
@@JMan377 Yes - SMOKE is just the startup process - as soon as you confirm there is fire, shut the lid and set to the target temperature.
@@michaelhumphreys7496 I noticed that I'll have to run the high every time or else I'll get heavy smoke in the hopper. They should've added a door to remove pellets. Had to do it manually lol
The directions are absolutely horrible. Whoever packed the damn thing should work for nasa though.
Thanks for the feedback mate, are you located in the US?
@@zgrillsaustralia4541 yes I am. Unfortunately the corner where the rear leg slips into to be bolted on was bent. So despite the packing expertise I did have some damage
@@streetpunk99 Sorry to hear that - you can thank your lovely US delivery companies for that. Aussie delivery companies seem to take a lot more care as we very rarely have damage here.
Should I watch inside the hopper and make sure it doesn’t run out of pellets while going through this burn off cycle? I will surely find out before you reply back, LOL! Fingers crossed I don’t burn down my neighborhood.
Just put in a couple of kilos (4 lbs) which will be enough.
How long will the full hopper last?
help.zgrills.com.au/knowledge-base/wood-pellet-faqs/
@@zgrillsaustralia4541 Page not found. :-( Did find here though... The wood grill pellets used in Z Grills burn at about 2.2 pounds per hour at high temperatures (more than 356 degrees) and 0.66 to 0.88 pounds per hour when cooking low and slow (Smoke setting or 225 degrees). A 22-pound bag of pellets can last anywhere from 10 to 25 hours depending on temperatures and conditions. The 700E model will use pellets faster than the 450A due to the larger surface area. from:

@@zgrillsaustralia4541 Thank you for that link. It was very informative, and very interesting reading, especially about the wood pellets you have in Australia. Thanks again, Eric

zeeee grill not zed grill aussie
Cloud Strifen Hah I was waiting for somebody to comment on that. I actually had to train myself to say ZED again as spending lots of time in the US I was saying Zeee too much. I could hear my Dad from my childhood telling me “speak like an Aussie, not a Yank! ;)
