I got a huge deal on this exact grill last year. Was down to $350 with another $100 rebate on top of that. It has been an excellent pellet grill and I was so happy I switched from gas. Quality is great and it came with a cover and 2 temp probes, none of which other brands usually come with and make you buy separately. Z grills used to make stuff for pitboss and traeger and then started making their own.
That is a GREAT deal! Yeah I’ve had no issues with mine either. Runs well. I also read it was some engineers from Traeger that started the company and the insides do very much resemble some traeger models. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this. I've been voluntold to run the company bbq at a function this weekend and they have a z-grill - never used one before. This video was a life saver.
Great present and good question! If you live a very dry climate like Arizona it will be fine, otherwise they can absorb moisture from the air and be ruined. If you're not going to be cooking again for a week or longer, I would empty the hopper. Check out these videos for more info on how to empty and store pellets: ua-cam.com/video/sy8GZkWtRMI/v-deo.html. ua-cam.com/video/EsJHgy9yk-8/v-deo.html
Hey man, I just picked up the 700D7 on sale for $480.00. I was so excited then I built it and was lost as to the proper way to break it in. Your video was well done, incredibly informative and made me more confident in starting it up. Thank you!
Excellent tutorial on the startup. I understand that if you do not let the smoke dissipate before you close the lid, you could get a fire or explosion. Is that correct?
Thanks! Yes, it’s best to keep the lid open during startup so the pellets have an abundance of oxygen for initial ignition. There are videos of explosions from keeping the lid closed that people describe happens for all sorts of various reasons. I have not experienced or tested this out for myself. But I always keep the lid open to be safe and have had no issues. Thanks for watching!
Great question! Yes you will need to clean out the ash pot regularly. I usually do it after a long all day cook, or after 2 or 3 shorter weeknight cooks. No matter what type of pellet grill or pellets you use, there will always be ash left behind. On this particular model, it does not have a quick release to empty out the bottom so the easiest way to do it is to pop out the drip pan and heat baffle and use a mini shop vac. Check out our Pit Boss Deep Cleaning Video we recently put out. Most of what we show to do on a Pit Boss applies to all other pellet grills as well including Z Grills. Thanks for watching!
No, you do need to use pellets to fuel the fire. There is a heating rod in the fire pot powered by electricity that will light the pellets, but it can’t heat your grill without them. You can check out our article on how a pellet grill works here if you are interested. www.madbackyard.com/how-do-pellet-grills-work/ Thanks for watching!
Nope- no need! Just run the burn off with the lid closed and then run through the shut down cycle. You can run a second burn off after applying a little cooking oil to the inside components to season if you want to as well. This will help prevent any rust from forming especially if you live in a humid area. Thanks for watching!
I think I chose the wrong pellet smoker because i am finding it very hard to find instructions on the Vevor smoker grill. The manual on shows how assemble.😢
I just started my Z Grill. When I turned it from shut down cycle to smoke, I get Er 1 on the screen for the temp probe not being connected properly. This happens with or without the probes in the control board.
Hi Wyatt- Yes, it means its not getting a signal from the RTD internal temperature probe inside the Z Grill that constantly measures the air temperature inside the chamber (not to be confused with any optional meat probes that plug into the front of the control panel itself and are used for monitoring meat temperatures). If you have the manual, go back to the step where you mounted the hopper to the chamber (on the Z grills 700D3 it is step number 6). There is an instruction there to connect the RTD temp probe (you installed this temp probe in the previous step) plug in connector now coming out of the cooking chamber to the corresponding plug in connector coming out of the hopper. You will need to remove the hopper and check the connection and then reattach the hopper. Hopefully it's just not connected well and doing this solves the issue, otherwise you may need to contact Z grills for a new RTD temp probe or a new grill. Hope that helps, thanks for watching!
Which step? You won't need to prime the auger every time you start once its filled with pellets. You just need to start it with the lid OPEN on the Smoke setting until you hear a fire roaring in the fire pot. Then you can shut the lid and set to whatever temperature you want.
Don't buy one people.... Just don't... Quality control is terrible and the customer service is non existent... I feel so angry and filled with regret for giving them my money and what I ended up with is 100lbs of useless steel.
I was wondering about that. I had several issues with my Pit Boss over the last couple years but I’ll say customer service was always amazing. They always sent out replacement parts no questions asked. I just got tired of fixing it and finally tossed it yesterday. Now I’m looking for a new one and I like these but customer service is high on my list for something like this. Now I don’t know what to do.
I’m following your video while using my grill for the first time. Excellent instructions. Thank you!
Glad it helped! Thanks!
Thank you for this. Just got my Z grill today for Father's day. Very informative.
Right on! Thanks for watching!
I'm still awaiting mine. Sam's Club sent it a few states away. :(
I came here to make sure my auger was working as it was slow and would stop. You answered my question! Thanks for this great video!!
Right on! Glad it helped!
The manual was beyond confusing. So glad I found this video!!! Very clear instructions! Thanks!
Great to hear, thank you!
The best start up tutorial. Thank you.
You're welcome! Glad it helped!
My 700D will arrive next Tuesday. Thank you for the best video on this topic.

Kroger had one marked down to 110.00 I grabbed that grill quick
@@moosehedrick5255my dad just picked up the display model for me at his work for 50 bucks. Seems like a steal.
Our fuse blew on initial setup. Can’t find anything saying why on the Internet can you help?
Very useful video, waiting for my grill to show up. Makes total sense now. Thank you
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!

Awesome! Glad it helped and good luck with the BBQ!
"VOLUNTOLD"😂😂😂
Great video. Very thorough
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
This is a great explanation. The user manual that came with my version was not really clear to me.
Glad it helped, thanks!
Santa got me one per UPS..
Ive never tried one of these before.
When you're done, i guess you just leave the leftover pellets in the hopper?

1st pellet smoker nothing mentioned about ash dump does it burn that clean? No ashes

Can you use this without pellets? Is the fire just from the plugged-in electric?

Do you need to remove the pellets after every use?
No, only if you aren’t going to be cooking for an extended time.
Are you suppose to open the cover half way through the burn off?
