It would have been so easy for them to write Prince Edward as a toxic Gaston-type and Nancy as a jealous shrew. I'm so happy that they were both written as likable and sympathetic, and they got their happily-ever-after too.

The point of the fairy tale stereotypes were on purpose. They were making fun of their own movies. We had Disney Cameos like the voice of Ariel the receptionist. Her music played in the background, also voice of Belle on the TV drama, with music from Beauty and The Beast playing. And other little things

It LOOKED like they were making fun of themselves, but in the end they re-affirmed their basic themes like true love and happily ever after.

Amy Adams is ✨flawless✨ in this movie, James Marsden is the perfect himbo prince, and Patrick Dempsey is a really good romantic lead too. Definitely one of my favorite Rom coms.

Honestly, Nancy accepting that Robert had fallen in love with Giselle with that "Kiss her Robert" line hits me everytime. Like, she surely noticed that as much as the both of them wanted a relationship, Nancy wished for a prince while Robert was still broken from his other relationship. So glad they both got their happy endings lol
I think Robert’s “other” relationship is probably his wife whom he mentions in the Italian restaurant. I imagine she only married him for his family’s money, then she left him just after both of Robert’s parents died suddenly, to the point where she wasn’t even at their funeral. I even imagine she referred to Morgan (Robert’s daughter) as an “accident”, which would imply that she didn’t want her or any child to begin with. This would emotionally devastate Robert so much that he built up walls around him until Giselle knocked them down.

the fact that by the end Giselle became a slightly more practical and settled person, and Nancy (the "practical" girlfriend) did a super impulsive thing and ran off with the prince. she obviously was hiding a more romantic side from her uber practical but lovable single dad boyfriend. I can't wait to see what the second movie is like.
It was only today when I found out there will be a sequel. My guess would be that their child finds the whole live at first sight and marrying the moment they met is dumb and wants something more real. Maybe she's supposed to find a husband and she keeps refusing. Making things seem less enchanting.

There are actually some deleted scenes from the movie that give a bit of perspective concerning Nancy's character; in the scenes it is revealed that she is in fact a hopeless romantic with a fairy tale complex. She even has a few lines where she fantasizes about marrying a prince charming or something.
Honestly, in my opinion, it would have been much better if those scenes had been kept in the final footage; it would have given a better picture to understand Nancy's motives at the end of the movie, for example.

Nancy’s last name is Tremaine, a reference to the wicked stepmother in Cinderella.
And even more irony: In Camilles Cinderella, she DOES play the stepmother!

If you pay attention the outfit the mannequins wearing is the same outfit that Robert is wearing at the end. I love that little detail. Also James Marsden the actor for Prince Edward wanted the bikes running him over to look real so they actually ran him over 😭😭. Giselle laughed when she was angry bc she’s never been angry before s ok she was excited to feel a new emotion
The mannequin detail was actually a hint, and the fact that Giselle couldn’t figure out what could fit as her true love’s lips? Eh? 😉 In fact, the mannequin’s eyes were dark blue. Edward’s eyes are more of a clear blue. And when Edward approaches her in the apartment, the words to his song changes. “Yes, somewhere there’s a maid I’ve never met who was made-“

The calypso beat in “That’s How You Know” is intended as a nod to “Under the Sea” and “Kiss the Girl” in The Little Mermaid.

Robert’s secretary Sam is played by Jodi Benson, the voice of Ariel in The Little Mermaid. You can also hear "Part of your world" in the background.
Paige O’Hara (Belle) and Judy Kuhn (singing voice for Pocahontas) also make cameos as well! I could have sworn I once heard someone say that Ilene Woods (Cinderella) and Mary Costa (Sleeping Beauty) were in the crowd at the ball but I can’t find anything to confirm it.
I was going to comment this if I didn't find it, haha.
Belles voice is also played on a t.v. when the woman says "how can i love a man who doesn't even like himself?".

"I'm angry"-moment is so iconic, because she has never experienced that before - she has had such a positive and naive "goodness wins in the end"-point of view of the world and fairytale-like happy and bubbly personality that she doesn't know what anger is or why anyone would be angry. It must have been both so scary and also relieving to experience anger for the first time.
As many others have said, I love how they gently mock Disney-stereotypes and give almost everyone some character-development (they really could've made Nancy and Edward boring or bad guy-like, but I'm really glad they didn't). The dance-scene is so iconic in every way: I like that everyone else except Giselle has dressed up in a fairytale-costumes and Robert "Mr. "I don't sing" actually does just that.
I'm very excited about the sequel and that so many of the original cast are returning. Thanks for this reaction.

The female soap star “Angela” (so named for Angela Lansbury, who voiced Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast) is played by Paige O’Hara, the voice of Belle. “Angela” is arguing with a man named “Jerry” (Jerry Orbach voiced Lumiere) because she’s having an affair with a man named “Ogden” (David Ogden Stiers voiced Cogsworth). This soap opera scene is scored with music from Beauty and the Beast.
Also Judy Kuhn, voice of Pocahontas, is the single mother in the apartment building who says that Prince Edward is "too late" while he's looking for Giselle.

I'm watching the video and just from the snips you showed of the movie THIS MOVIE IS AWFULLLL AWFULLLL I like the animation I like the lighting the lighting was nice that transition was really cool but the story was as generic as it gets like really? How many times have we seen this damsel in distress story? And why are they arguing over a baseball card? What are her motives? What are her values? Why should we care? Give me something morally ambiguous

The woman that says Prince Edward is "too late" is Judy Kuhn, the singing voice of Pocahontas.
The troll in the opening sequence is sporting a trendy loincloth consisting of remnants of Cinderella’s maid get-up, Aurora’s Briar Rose dress, Belle’s village dress, and Snow White’s rags. His earrings are also made of Ariel’s shell top.
Interestingly enough, all outfits that the princesses had to leave behind like Giselle had to

Enchanted is such a good "self aware" Disney princess movie just because it does all the fairytale stuff more or less unironically while still being self aware about it.
Also, it's okay if you have furry tendencies! Dragons are cool. :P
(It's not THE best Disney movie in my eyes, tho, because I personally still think that basil the great mouse detective is my favorite Disney film, and I'm biased that way. I hope you get a chance to watch that one soon!)

Love this film. Amy Adams became my celebrity crush after this film, and she was perfectly cast as Giselle. Fun fact: The only reason Giselle isn’t an official Disney princess is because Disney would have to pay royalties to Amy Adams to use her likeness. Which is a shame as she is in my top 5 Disney heroines. 👍👍

I did feel sad for Nancy and the prince Edward in the dance because there's loyalty in both of their relationships. Especially, EDWARD!
Some random facts for this movie:
•Robert's receptionist is played by Jodie Benson who is the original voice of Ariel in _The Little Mermaid_ . And if you listen carefully, when she's on camera you can hear "Part of Your World" in the background.
• The old men dancers in the "How Does She Know" music number were the original chimney sweep dancers from _Mary Poppins_
• The woman actress in the Romcom on the television in the motel was Paige O'Hara who was the original actress for Belle in _Beauty and the Beast_
• The single mom in the apartments was actress Irene Bedard who was Pocahontas in _Pocahontas_
Because you missed it: Morgan's birth mother left her and Robert when Morgan was just a year old; her and Robert possibly met when he was in law school and after he graduated, they got married and she was pregnant with Morgan at the time. Even after Robert got a job as a divorce lawyer and she was a stay-at-home mom, this probably impacted her mental health in a negative way and she couldn't just take it anymore: So a short time after Morgan's first birthday, she left leaving Robert divorce papers and him full custody of Morgan.
I love as well that when you watch it back you realise that the model Giselle makes at the beginning is wearing the outfit Robert wears to the ball. So it was meant to be all along
Over the years I’ve really grown to appreciate Nathaniel’s arc. I love how much he grows as a character, and his happy ending as a successful writer, with the song lyric “you even might wind up being glad to be you” is really uplifting.
Robert’s law firm is named after Snow White and the Seven Dwarf’s songwriters: Frank Churchill, Leigh Harline, and Paul J. Smith
This entire movie is fantastic, but I always love the animated scenes at the beginning lol.

The poison caramel apple Nathaniel tries to feed Giselle has the same skull pattern as the poison apple in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
I love the lyrics of True Loves Kiss because the characters are in love with the IDEA of love and not each other. They don't care where the kiss comes from, just that they want one - "I've been dreaming of a true loves kiss, and a (miss/prince) that surely comes with this"

I remember when this movie came out, there was a Junior novelization that explained that Giselle “enchanted” everyone who she came across, hence the whole dance number and how the couple got back together…Oh, and the movie title, of course lol.

As you can probably tell by the comments section, this is a fun movie to re-watch because there are so many Disney Easter eggs hidden throughout the film.
I'll throw in another one - Dame Julie Andrews is the narrator of the movie, and she played Mary Poppins as well as the main character Maria von Trapp in "The Sound of Music". A reference to this film is thrown in during "That's How You Know", when Giselle runs up to the camera and spins as she sings, like in the titular song. Although it feels like one, TSoM wasn't a Disney movie, but a 20th Century Fox film... which means that now it does belong to Disney.
Robert is the divorce attorney for a woman with the last name Banks, like the family in Mary Poppins.
In a nod to Mary Poppins, Giselle bumps into a woman feeding the birds (tuppence a bag?) and gives her money.
Also: Most, if not all, of the older men on the bench in the "Thats How You Know" number were actually the dancers/chimney sweeps in Mary Poppins.
I had a once-in-a-lifetime experience seeing this movie. I got to go see it at the El Capitan theater in Hollywood, and they had this whole interactive thing going on at the time, where you could see their costumes, play games, the whole thing.
When my family went it was a packed theater with one of the most expresive audiences Ive ever seen.
When the cockraoches camu up the shower drain every father watching made the same sound of disgust and horror, it was hilarious.
Enchanted was the movie I grew up with. It's truly a magical movie
Amy Adams is so fantastic in this movie, and the difference from this to her performance in Sharp Objects is astounding, but she nails both.

I love this movie that is packed full of Disney references. Starting with cast Robert's secretary is played by Jodi Benson who was the voice of Ariel in the Little Mermaid (hence the fish spit out in the cup scene). The old gentleman in the park scene that present flowers to the old ladies only showed a fraction of they're dancing chops in this movie but they really popped off as the chimney sweeps in Mary Poppins. When Prince Edward is knocking on apartment doors in Robert's building the pregnant woman that answers the door and tells him, "You're too late." is Judy Kuhn who did the singing voice for Pocahontas. Paige O'Hara, the voice of Belle is the woman of the soap opera couple that Nathaniel watches and starts questioning his choices. (If you listen closely the Beauty and Beast score is playing in the background of the soap opera.) The narrator is the one, the only Julie Andrew's who is a Disney veteran for her role as Mary Poppins and as Queen Clarice in Princess Diaries. And dear Nancy is played by the great Idina Menzel will later after this movie go on to voice Elsa from Frozen. (This gives her the distinction of being the first to voice two princesses for Disney since Nancy marries Prince Edward at the end of the movie.)
Even the names in this movie are Disney references. Robert and Morgan's last name is Philip, as in Prince Philip from Sleeping Beauty. Nancy's last name is Tremaine in reference to the evil step mother, Lady Tremaine, from Cinderella. The couple Robert is helping divorce last name is Banks, like the parents from Mary Poppins. The pizzeria Robert take Giselle on "a date" is called Bella Notte which is the song sung during the iconic spaghetti and meatball scene in Lady and the Tramp. There are a couple dozen more references and every time you'll watch the movie you'll find more.
This was seriously my favorite Disney movie I loved how it was animated and had a real action/live action it like amazed me so much at first glance😔💕✨
I watched this movie ALL THE TIME back in my childhood, and I NEVER noticed until this video that Robert was singing the dance song during his dance with Giselle. That is honestly so sweet and beautiful

it IS criminal that idina doesn’t get to sing in this movie, i agree. i feel like in some small way, frozen was disney’s apology to her. and then frozen 2 was their apology to jonathan groff (kristoff) for not letting him sing in frozen 1 😂

Honestly, your breakdown and joy of one of my all time favorite movies brought a smile to my face. This entire video had me grinning. I'm an adult as well and still ADORE movies like this with all of my heart. Keep doing what you're doing, you bring a ton of smiles with your commentary. And just how into it you were, how you legitimately adored it, it was just all around wonderful.

So Close is one of the most romantic Disney love songs and so underrated
One of my favorite fun facts from this film is that the old men dancing in the park during How Does She Know were chimney sweeps in Mary Poppins (the flowers looking like sweep brooms is a little hint). Imagine being in one of the greatest Disney films ever released and then coming back almost FIFTY years later and being in another?!
