Fun fact: this movie story is based off the Ballet Swan Lake and they used actual dancers from a ballet company to do motion capture for the characters :) alas, they didn't include the tragic ending of the actual story where Odette throws herself off a cliff in despair 😂😂😂
Don't forget the music. I had the chance to have a place for seeing the ballet two years ago for Christmas and also " The Nutcacker " for my birthday ( I don't know if I wrote ite well because I'm french)

For most of these Barbie movies, it's meant to be Barbie acting as the characters (idk, she has so many jobs, not sure how she finds time to act too), hence no Ken. Ken is in some of them though, you'll know him when you see him 😂 He's hard to miss.
It’s canon that Barbie is an actress and that’s why there are so many movies. The movie that makes it a canon thing is Barbie: A Fairy Secret. The beginning literally has her on the red carpet going to see the premiere of A Mermaid Tale.

I love Barbie movies especially as a kid but personally I feel like they’re better Barbie movies you could’ve watched and you should watch. But this was really funny

I don't know if you know this, but "Swan Lake" is an actual Ballet. All of the music in this movie is the original Balletmusic by Tschaikowsky, which is why their are all dancing Ballet (That was actually done with Rotoscope, they used actual balletdancers for the moves)
One of the hardest parts for the lead actress in the Ballet is to play the "Black Swan" meaning Odile, when she is disguised as Odette. There was a Movie a while ago called "Black Swan" about the difficulties of dancing both parts
I had the chance to see a représentation of the ballet two years ago. It was a Christmas present.

I feel like these two should team up with the barbie movie connoisseurs, Aaron and Jo. It would definitely be a fun watch.

As someone whose childhood revolved around Barbie and enjoys watching ballet, it was interesting to see their genuine reaction. If Welchy is planning on doing more Barbie movies, I have a few recommendations, which are mostly personal favorites:
- Barbie and the 12 Dancing Princesses
- Barbie and the Pink Shoes
- Barbie and the Three Musketeers
- Barbie: Princess and the Pauper
- Barbie: Rock n' Royals
But yeah - this was fun to watch, looking forward to more

The Barbie movies are a bit boring in the beginning, but the more you watch the movie series, the adventures become more exciting and much better animated. If you want to see a cool version of Barbie i suggest "Barbie in a mermaid tale". 😊🔥

Might I suggest "Barbie as The Island Princess" or "Princess and the Pauper"? I kinda like those ones, mostly because the songs.
I loved The Island Princess. Not so much the elephant, but I liked the plot.

The disrespect on Hobbie from Rapunzel continues lmao. There’s something so enjoyable about watching people whom never seen the Barbie movies. You guys should definitely react to Princess and the Pauper, Magic of Pegasus or even Barbie Diaries - the bloopers are golden.
I was never allowed to watch this particular Barbie movie growing up because Tchaikovsky, my grandmother (who is Jewish) for obvious reason hated him yet let me watch “the Swan Princess” with no qualms. Maybe because it didn’t feature any of his compositions? Idk but the only way I’ve experienced this version is through reactions but it’s fr like a fever dream every time 💀

Anyways, the reason why many of us love the Barbie movies because they’re wacky and sometimes just feel like a fever dream lmao. It allows us to really leave reality for a moment and enjoy the movie.
Tip, don’t watch anything post-2016 the movies decline in quality quite a bit, and become just weird

I mean, if you are watching Barbie movies, do the Pegasus one. It is the most sassy Barbie movie out there and probably the only one where the love interest actually gets a decent story on his own.

My sister told me that they are elves and I felt stupid because I grew up with this movie. I guess it makes sense that they used children/Kelly and Tommy models so they can sell cute merchandise. Plus it's much more easier than to use those models than to make new elf models.
It's still odd that they're the toddler dolls, haha.

When I was little I watched every single Barbie movie and loved it so much that I watched the same one multiple times in week 😅 it’s kind of nostalgic, but when I look at it now it really is weird 😂 but I’m not judging, obviously it’s for little kids, and back then the animation was really good

Headcanon in our friend group: The 'potion' Ruber buys from some witches in Quest for Camelot is just a bottle of LSD. So Ruber and Co are seeing what we see in the movie, but Kayley and everyone else sees guys jumping in a pit with silverware... and jumping back out the exact same way, chasing her with her family tableware. The entire movie is just Ruber and his minions high on drugs. 🤣

Swan Lake was my favorite Barbie movie when I was a kid. I rewatched when I was older and I sat there and all I could think was, wow. I had really low standerds. This was a fun blast from the past, do more!

The small characters actually aren't supposed to be kids, but small woodland fairies, which is why Ivan and Carlita sound like grown ups.

I think the "long intro" is based off the fact that the ballet itseld had a musical prelude (like most do). That's my understanding.
Plays and ballets tend to have a
prelude and I believe it's even before anything begins. Older movies like Sound of Music and My Fair Lady would do this too (because movies come from plays). This is my understanding.

No, because I was obsessed with this movie when I was a kid and the whole Barbie franchise in general this isn't my favorite but the choreography in this movie is a bit better than some.
