But redheads are so pretty, I think you look hotter than usual. Also, it was so heartwarming seeing you enjoy the representation, as a latina Encanto is the closest an international movie has done it for me, Coco is second, because it's more specifically Mexican/Central American, and I'm South American, so even though I feel kinship with them irl, it's not the same. I supposed it's how you would feel when watching Irish things?

It’s similar with wolves, there used to be plenty in Scotland but they all died down or went extinct due to hunting. There has been a loooooong debate or plan of action to release wolves into the wild of Scotland to reduce deer population which has spiralled.

Got it in one. All the skills Merida was learning was to ensure that everyone, even her own husband, would show her proper respect and defer to her authority. Even if she and her husband never fall in love, he would never be able to put her down because she has an equal, if not higher, standing than him. If not love, then at least plenty of respect. I took a little, elderly Scottish woman named Maria to see this in a small theater, here; in Jacksonville. We came out of the theater, and every little girl swarmed her, wanting to talk to Merida; thinking that was her story. Maria was so happy to have the attention of all those little girls, it made her cry. It was an honor to spend the day with her. The movie was all the energy she had, but, when I dropped her off at her apartment in the senior living building, I bet she went straight to sleep and dreamt well of home, and that lake of little girls.

I'm just one of the few Hispanic cousins who understand enough of the unmentioned relationship details that no other large wide spread group really gives me the feeling of clear identity, my other relatives just help me with having clues of historic culture facts. But I love my Celtic cousins and Afro related cousins deeply enough to not let it hide at all. In my heart it's Celtic stories and old symbols plus the beautiful old art, and with Afro related people it's how groovy I instantly become hearing their widely shared music with various jazz rhythms. My American history pieces can take months to put together though, with it being so rare to find history books that really respect America.

I'm one of the few quite patient about new ways to communicate whether the person has disabilities or not. I don't care which big group I'm around, and same thing with race and enthic stuff. These blue lights in the swamp are called "Irrlichte" in geman which means "light that leads astray" and you are warned to never follow them for they lead to the other world /death.
In reality they are gases from the wet ground which burn in a small flame when getting in contact with air. But it is allways better to not follow them, cause they don't lead a safe way necessarily.

From what little we got to see of all of their personalities he seemed to be the most sensible in a way that I could see him knowing and understanding who Merida is (strengths, weakness’, and eccentricities a like) and appreciating them all rather than trying to change her into something she isn’t.

Even though Young Dingwall was on the sweeter side, he just wouldn’t have been able to have the character to lead. That’s what I get from him. He wouldn’t be able to keep up with Merida.
With young McGuffin, it’s clear that he is good tempered, and treats Merida as an equal. And from what we’ve seen, he acknowledges and respects her feelings. And when Push comes to shove, I feel like he can DEFINITELY have to fight back if he had more experience leading the Clan as well.
Even though I liked how Merida at the end is not focused to have a guy at her side. Young McGuffin seems to be the best match for her as a love interest. She would teach him to be firm and fight back. He would be the calm after her storm.

I feel that these two scenes at my core, the acting is just so good!

????????? Real Autism making my interests of magical stories a life long topic, insights of how nature itself became the ancient characters first and then later fantasy creatures, plus my values of a calm life, and my difficulties with harsh voices, I feel several of the scenes in this movie.
How I hear King Fergus in my imagination: My dear wife our daughter doesn't want any marriages and I'm fine with that. We shall keep living in the present, Merida doesn't need to be like our historic queens to be a worthy ruler. She's a strong girl who can take care of herself, and she definitely has the skills for keeping the kingdom safe. And please try to calm down about how Merida spends the day, she's respectful and loyal but her idea of freedom is what she's tried to express in front of you Elinor. We can trust her, her resourcefulness is noticeable. So let her live the life she wants to dear.

With this animated film of little known historic facts of Scotland it's more often historic words and less known phrases of expression that sound similar to slang here in America even though they're saying something serious to another character. Clearly part of this fun film's viewer issues is many aren't patient about figuring out what a cartoon is actually trying to say throughout the movie.

When I first watched Brave with our daughter and the Mackintosh first appeared, had I been drinking something I would have spit it out…and as the show went on, uncovering his and his son’s special personalities? I called up my sister (yes, during the movie, we were watching it at home,) and told her, “OH, MY GOD, MICHELE! YOU HAVE TO WATCH BRAVE THIS INSTANT!”
She is single without children and asked me why I thought that. I just said, “I will pester you about this until you watch it. That’s a fact. And when you do, you will know EXACTLY WHY I insist that you watch it.”
She did watch it, and immediately called me while she was still watching it and said, “OH, MY GOD! KATHY! TTHE MACKINTOSH IS DAD!!!”😂😂😂💯 and, to be honest, his son was also perfectly descriptive of our dad…vain, highly competitive, short temper, explosive anger, dubious of everyone else’s intentions, basically narcissistic…
Ok…I am a U.S. American. My dad’s family were INSANE, and super proud of their Scots ancestry…I mean, my folks told me not to let my grandparents know that I was babysitting for a Campbell family in the 1980’s kind of insane…(not meaning to be disrespectful, just, why would I be talking to my grandparents about babysitting gigs? We lived 500 miles away from them.)

I loved that you translated the MacGuffin son. I’m from Aberdeen so since this film has came out I’ve had to translate what he says to my friends not from here (yes, even some Scottish friends) so it feels good knowing other people did/do it too.
It also made me realise how strong Doric sounds and how many people can’t understand us. 💀

I love Brave! I live in the same area that the voice actor for young mcguffin is from- so I didn’t realise he was supposed to be hard to understand when I first saw it 😂 he’s just talking a little fast!

The fact that the line about the caber tossing was meant to be unintelligible to the audience and yet you understood anyways is perfect 😂

I LOVE BRAVE!! I'm of Mexican descent, short brown girl, so whenever I get into a conversation of my favorite Disney princess, people always assume one of the darker skinned ones but NAH, Merida is my FUCKING FAVORITE DISNEY PRINCESS!! Her story and just her as a character I really connect with. So I loved how you reacted to this with so much enthusiasm.

I am not even Scottish and I cried at the end. I have adopted Merida as my favorite princess, Brave is such a fun movie to watch hands down!

Darlin, this film made me cry when it first came out. It’s even worse now. I bawl like a wee baby myself. As a mum myself now, it’s my FAVORITE Disney film. It reminds me to try and actively listen to my daughter (who was born a little ginger but alas grew out of it) and to do what makes her happy too.
And, admittedly, it makes me glad to see a princess of my heritage (we’re not exclusively Scottish but there’s definitely a wee bit of Scots in there). It also has inspired my daughter (who is 6) and has decided she really wants to visit Scotland ASAP. Probably not this year but maybe next summer we’ll visit for the first time (hopefully of many).
