    The ballroom dance scene is one of my favorite scenes in any movie. Everything about it is perfect. The music, the lighting, the colors, the dancing itself, the romance, the characters, and the story. Everything just comes together in this beautiful moment. You can feel all of the emotions without either character speaking. Just the way they look at each other. It's breathtaking. I never get tired of this scene. And of course the part where Patrick Dempsey sings softly in her ear always grips my heart.

    The telenovela has a bunch of references in one:
    The female soap star “Angela” (so named for Angela Lansbury, who voiced Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast) is played by Paige O’Hara, the voice of Belle. “Angela” is arguing with a man named “Jerry” (Jerry Orbach voiced Lumiere) because she’s having an affair with a man named “Ogden” (David Ogden Stiers voiced Cogsworth). First of all, I'm brazilian, so my English is not that great but...
    When Giselle gets angry I think that's when she starts to become an human. Princess doesn't get angry. That's why she is mesmerized that she is angry, and than right after she discovered her feelings for Robert.
    One more thing: her dress at the ball it's different because that is the moment when she is more human, not a character from a Fary Tale.
    Ps: this is my favorite movie of all time

  • @RabbitsFunWorld
    @RabbitsFunWorld 2 роки тому +7

    I love all the references and trivia tidbits everyone is putting in about the movie, but only one person (that I’ve noticed so far) gives trivia about the movie’s story. I’ll give you a second one, which is actually food for thought.
    In the animated world, we see Giselle building her true love, who is in a blue royal outfit, has blue eyes, black hair, and no lips. Note that there are no objects that she can find to resemble his lips. The prince she meets isn’t wearing any blue, even though he has blue eyes. She enters our world and bumps into someone who has black hair and blue eyes. After she and McDreamy argued, she realized she has feelings for him, and that he resembles her statue. When she sees him at the ball, she notices his royal outfit. Huge clue as to why she couldn’t find the right thing for her statue’s lips is because he was too realistic. No animated item would ever suit for his lips. Her true love was in our real world this whole time.
    The reason Nancy let Robert kiss her was because she realized the two of them would never truly be happy together. She felt that in the kiss they had at the end of Jon’s song “So Close.” She knew she and Robert were not meant to be together and accepted. She said “it’s okay,” because she understood why he was acting that way. She gave up her future with him to let him be with the woman he truly loves.

    The sheer number of self-references Disney put in this film is mind-boggling. Dempsey's assistant is the voice of Ariel. The two old women at the ball at the end are the voices of Aurora and Cinderella. The mom with all the kids, is the voice of Pocahontas. The soap opera couple on TV... belle and beast's voice actors. The Grand Duke hotel is a reference to Cinderella again. The name of the pizzaria is the one from Lady and the Tramp. Sorry, but Fiona was referencing Disney with her whole singing thing. Cinderella, Snow White, they all did that LONG before Shrek. The list goes on and on. It's a little ridiculous how overboard and tongue-in-cheek they went on this one. But it works really well. Amazing cast. Great songs. They just went hard knowing full well exactly what the movie was and not caring.

    Just remembered I wanted to say something .The comment a couple of others have made, that the secretary "Sam" is Jodi Benson: Ariel/Barbie. But what those commenters would have known if they were real trivia buffs is that also, in The Little Mermaid, Jodi Benson did the voice of "Vanessa", Ursula's human form. And the other is that she's actually voiced another Disney Princess. Hercules did have a sequel; that worked as a lead in to the Hercules tv series also done by Disney. And they both have several extra characters including Helen of Troy; whose voiced by Jodi Benson too. And she's Anita in 101 Dalmatians 2, and Lady in Lady and the Tramp 2 (Both sequels that were better than the originals although the originals are fine).
    Miss Benson also voiced Thumbelina for the Don Bluth Productions version of the film; which is something else that can be found on Disney+. A few of the films by them are. Don Bluth is a Disney employee as well as someone who made his own films. (He's the creator of Anastasia - which you easily could have heard of - and its sequel Bartok the Magnificent; also the All Dogs Go to Heaven stuff). Some other Disney employees also joined his team. The most popular film he worked on for Disney is Sleeping Beauty; but the actual 'best' movie he's worked on for Disney is Oliver & Company, which is something I recommend.

As for Fiona, well...She's also meant to poke fun at the traditional princess tropes, and DreamWorks LOVES to roast Disney at any opportunity, so that's probably the reason for the similarity there. 😀

    Idina's character is a princess since she married Prince Edward, nice! I forgot her name though, it's been 3 years since i saw the movie; sorry for that X)
    Giselle is one of the few Disney girls who isn't a princess like Wendy from Peter pan, Jenny from Oliver and Shanti from Jungle book 2. It's fun to see other type of persons than princesses in thoses movies. A cool change too :)

    If you want to keep the "name theme", you can watch "Ella enchanted" its pretty cute too. Not disney (i think) but still "princess movie" with Anne Hat. (Dont know how to write her name)

    Yay!! Im so glad you're watching this! This is one of my favorite Disney movies ever, its so clever and goddamn Amy Adams is a genius. Also, is the cafe Nathaniel and Edward in at the beginning the same place in When Harry Met Sally during the fake orgasm scene? Or am I crazy?

    In case you didn't know; of you get the Blu-ray version of this movie, there'san interactive game you can play while watching. If you didn't know; in nearly every scene, Disney's animators as well as the film crew and writers, put in tons of references to other Disney animated movies. The game will give you one of three films, and you have to pick the correct one.
