Loved that improv at the start! It reminded me of some of Phil Keaggy's solo clean guitar improvs. The Verbzilla does sound really good, esp. considering it's over a decade old. Amazing that they squeezed all of that into a pedal back then. -Tom
I was so lucky to get this module in a very good condition from 2nd hand market.. big fan of tone core series. this video make me appreciate verbzilla more and more.
I've had one of these on my board since they 1st came out. It's just part of the signal chain. It's amazing that they are that old and still sound great. I keep mine on one setting and mix it with a bit the amp reverb. It has not broke so I haven't replaced it.
I still have the constrictor from the same range of line 6 pedals. I purchased it when i was a teenager but have acquired a range of boutique and pricier pedals since, needless too say the constrictor still holds up... these pedals were truly underrated and under appreciated upon release.
2000's gear gets all kinds of grief, but a lot of it is digital- as long as the ADA's are decent, absolutely nothing wrong with them. Great for guys like me that are cool with using them and scooping them up on Reverb for cheap.
Picked one of these up recently on reverb, they're pricy these days compared to what they originally sold for but it compares really well to higher spec reverbs that i have like the strymon blue sky and GTI specular tempus. The first 2 pedals i ever bought were the tonecore crunchtone and the echo park, i still have them both and they're still working fine. The echo park has a lot of models like the verbzilla which is a nice feature in both. I also have the tonecore roto machine and only recently dusted it off and am gonna put it thru its paces again. Many thanks for the vid 👍
I have this pedal on my board as a reverb to go to for lush long ambient when needed. It's unbelievable! John... to bad you didn't actually try the CAVE mode... i think the knob were on the TILE setting. Test the CAVE. 🙂
Well.... maybe was the Cave... but i get it... was already at the end of the video...no much patience to explore a mode. ☺ But it would have been worth.
Hmm, pretty sure my Behringer Reverb Machine is a clone of this. All the modes are the same as is the layout of the controls. Tonality - hard to say. Never played one, and even if I had, I'm no Johnathan Cordy :) Lovely stuff, man. Just what I needed at 2:39am on a Saturday morning here in Australia.
One of this pop up last week for $60 at nearby town. Dang i should just buy it if it was this capable. How's the spring compared to stuff you've tried?
Some time ago, I noticed something strange on the reverb for the "09A DIR:JazzRivet120" Preset on my HX Stomp. When using the "Plate" Reverb, I'm getting a "fairly loud and exceptionally long lasting" octave overtone whenever I play the note F on the 1st string 1st fret, 2nd string 6th fret, etc. I've tried 3 different types of guitars, each with different types of pickups, and I'm getting the annoyingly loud harmonic. This weird resonance has made the Plate (legacy plate) unusable for me. Have you noticed anything like that on the Verbzilla or on any of your Helix units? I've monitored the output directly from the HX Stomp through headphones, and also from my mixer, and the problem occurs on both. I have not noticed this problem on any of the other Reverbs. Thanks
Hmm feels like a Helix adjacent video. John Fraudy
Yep! all these reverbs and more are in the Helix family of products ( Helix / Hx stomp -HX Effects / Helix Native ) in the legacy effects. underrated

This one was used by Matthew Followill of Kings Of Leon, no wonder its sounds awesome
There is an amazing lushness about the reverbs in that pedal. I have been able to get similar verbs with the new Dynamic Hall.
All of these are in the Legacy Reverbs in all Helix products
This pedal is so underrated, I love this machine!

These pedals were underrated! I had the delay echo park or park echo lol. It was really good!
Why don't you have it anymore?
@@Texturas75 I was young when I got rid of it lol.

Same
Still rocking an echo park. Great sounding delay!
I love my old Echo Park. It's dark and moody :)
Sounds so good
The boss ps3 I have from the early 90s does shimmery stuff.
I just got one… I almost got the boss. But since these are out of production I decided to get the line 6 😸

how's the crunchtone??

Octo mode is the best. Very U2 and Kings of Leon
Where is the “pre delay” knob??
I think the “time” knob may be it.
Let me check the manual.
"Time - controls the length of pre-delay from 10ms to 200ms."

That opening piece, what is a similar reverb in the helix? Ta. And what helix preset for amp?
The legacy reverbs in the Helix *are* the Verbzilla algos! ;)
Yeh check out the Ducking Delay in the legacy reverbs section.
And actually this is using no amp at all - just the Reverb straight into my soundcard!
What Are you going into? How are u recording?
Hey John... this is a little bit of cheating... you DO miss the Helix eh?
Always found the Verbzilla pretty bland. Any long reverb without modulation I find pretty useless. The $60 Flamma Reverb trashes the Verbzilla.
