Hey everybody, I always wondered if the Boss RV-6 and the Verbzilla by Line 6 would be good for a dreamy shoegaze lead tone. 🤔 In this video I'm comparing them without talking - so you can fully focus on the sound. What was your favorite reverb sound in this video? Let us know in the comments below. 🎸 And thank you so much for watching! Also a huge THANKS to DistroKid for powering this video. I bought a verbzilla in 2005 I’ve played so many different verbs and have always come back to this pedal it’s my number one longest working pedal it’s built like a tank and the only reason it’s retired now is because I own the hx stomp which does all sounds I love. The cave setting has been my go to for many years it’s just amazing.
Been using the Verbzilla for a year now and it sure is great for shoegaze sound, I fell in love with the Octo and the Cave mode like if it had been love at first hearing haha, great pedal
An excellent video thank you very much, both these good but Verbzilla always had a sound I like more than options that existed when it was released. Has stood the test of time very well.
it’s easy to draw battle lines between a 00’s reverb staple and a more modern updated Boss reverb. I’ve always thought the modulated setting on the Boss RV-5 to be my favorite kinda sound but the suboctave shimmer on the rv-6 was the best tone to my ears here. loved the video, kenneth, and as a fellow “kenny” who loves shoebaze, your vids are a revelation. keep jammin 🤙🏽
I love Boss, but my echo park delay is the choice for a standard small footprint pedal. I think the Verbzilla wins here if you need the extras that it has to offer. Both are great.
For the first time I can say I own half of the items i see in this video: a couple of cables, a flannel shirt and a pink rug just like yours! Anyway, great tones specially from that verbzilla... although for a while I will stick to my sick zoom 505 for reverb...
Hi Kenneth Great video, I owned the verbzilla at one point my brother gave it to me in a trade for one of my pedals. Never owned the boss but I’ve played it and I love it, Adam Franklin has had it on his pedalboard his whole career so if it’s good enough for him it’s good enough for me! Great music and comparing. I’m currently using the Red Panda context v2 based of 80’s rack gear and it’s one of my favorite reverbs I’ve ever owned, check it out if you haven’t already. Thanks for the video dope as always.
Bro, try out the Hardwire CR-7 chorus, it’s digital but super versatile (; you won’t regret. The Ibanez CF-7 Chorus Flanger is great as well! Both are stereo
Never got on with the line6! it sounded cold and dominated in areas that were not good! Has an un-natural sound about it! The pedal just bugged me!! Sold it ages ago and never looked back
I had a RV-6 and then sold it. Bought a Verbzilla, then sold it. Now I have the RV-6 again. The Verbzilla left a lot to be desired for me. The only unique patches were Cave and Octatve. Other than that, everything else was awful. And it could’ve been that my unit was old, but I didn’t care for it. To each his own, though.
Damn… Hard to pick one. Verbzilla more Lo-Fi sounding (esp. full wet and octo mode) and better price. Boss have a more hi quality sound, but less freaky

This video has sold me on buying both of them, it also made me realize how much money I'm going to spend on my drone band
can’t believe this dude was one of, like, five people to actually own and use a DF-7 before the JHS video
The darker tone of the Octo preset on the Verbzilla makes me dream of the Cocteau Twins!

Would be interesting to hear a comparison between the Verbzilla and a Zoom Multistomp.

shoebaze is for all the baes out there. it’s more romantic than shoegaze
Is it a suboctave tho?

Daaaaaamn thanks for this. Make a song with that style Kenneth ❤❤
I'm a full time musician and still using both of these pedals for my solo acoustic set up cos they're amazing !!!
They really are nice!!!
8:50 YES YES and YES full wet and glitchy!
Great comparison Kenneth! I really like both pedals. I might even try to track down a Verbzilla. It sounds very rich.
I just bought the RV6 but the verbzilla sounds so warm and lush
Both sound really good in my ears, but I think the RV6 is still a really good reverb choice and not quite as heavy.

Verbzilla ftw
Thanks for your Demo
For me i go to RV 1 thing its not Heavy to the pedalboard
verbzilla sounds amazing for black metal
I need a really good stereo chorus pedal. Any suggestions?

God I LOVVVVE the riff your using here. Is it from a song you or an artist made if so PLEASE tell me what song it it it’s so beautiful
I played it in as a loop just for the video to show low and high notes in a musicial way. :) I also ended up liking it a lot. Thank you.
Considering getting one of the new reissue muffs to replace my broken one. Have u tried any of em Kenneth?
Not yet. Always missed a good eq setting on most miff pedals. The best one os on the DF7 - such an old dogital toy but works great!(for me at least)
Never got on with the line6! it sounded cold and dominated in areas that were not good! Has an un-natural sound about it! The pedal just bugged me!! Sold it ages ago and never looked back
Boss FTW

Do a dd8
Verbzilla sounds muddy. Boss has more define tone.
verbzilla annihilates the rv6

That shimmer is so lush
