Saucony Triumph RFG After 100 Miles

- Saucony introduced its eco foam, PWRRUNbio+ when it released the Triumph RFG. It's a 55% corn-based foam that behaves very similar to its non-eco counterpart, PWRRUN+ . This foam is a bit firmer, but it's still so enjoyable to run in. And after 100 miles, I'm happy to report that it's holding up as well as its non-eco sibling. Hopefully, we can see Saucony continue to develop these types of initiatives.

Was able to get 620 miles on my normal T20s before the upper started separating from the midsole. If that hadn't happened, the midsole would've easily lasted 100+ more miles; it makes it hard to buy other shoes when the $/mile of the Triumph is unmatched
I still have a pair of Triumph from back when they used a foam called Everrun. I don't keep track but it has to have 1000 miles by now.
T20 One of the best shoes i have. Hands down
I was shocked to find that the Triumph 21 RFG works for me. I can’t run on the newer super soft foams as I’m recovering from an injury. The soft foams don’t offer enough support. I can’t even do the new New Balance 1080. But the Triumph 21 RFG does work! It is amazing in its soft yet springy ride and somehow it keeps my foot aligned properly. The rocker and skinnier forefoot, I believe, has something to do with that. You role quickly to the forefoot and it doesn’t rely so much on a wide base for its stability. The wide base shoes for me tend to feel clunky and I get some foot slap with them. So glad to be able to run on a higher stack height, newer foam that doesn’t cause me any problems.
Absolutely. Both my Triumph 20s and 21s became daily trainers for a lot of the reasons you mentioned. There was still a good amount of soft and support to reduce the shock of regular miles, and yet springy and rolled in a way that was fun and even encouraging for some up-tempo running.
Just got mine today for €101. I started to run about a month ago. Today I did my first 9k in 47:16 on them. Really comfortable shoes
I see what you did there running along the corn fields in the corn shoe..
love that gum outsole
Another great review for a Saturday morning
I'm pairing my T20 with the Puma DN2 and Saucony EP3. Really happy with this rotation!
Nice
Thanks for the review. Am curious about the RFG performance and durability. I’m still waiting for my Triumph 20s to wear out (350+ miles). Solid pairing recommendation with the Cyclone 2. That shoe is a blast to run in.
Loving my T20’s and Pro 3s! I plan on getting T22 and Pro 4’s this year
hoping that we actually get that Adios Pro 4 update in 2024 🤞
Gr8 video. A running related question - do you practice running drills? What would you recommend for a runner like me who wants to improve the form? I am interested to know your thoughts and suggestions, maybe you can create a video on this like your video on fixing runners knee which was just awesome and so helping. Thanks again!
BEST OUTTRO MUSIC EVER!!!
Thank you for great review as always Mr. Kofuzi.
Had Triumph 21 (not RFG version), pairing with adidas boston 12, and asics superblast.
Buying triumph 21 for recovery days, walking, and traveling.
pros about triumph 21 in my opinion,:it is very comfortable and enjoyable for doing slow pace, the foam is not very squishy (which i liked), im not expecting that because triumph 21 falls into max cushioned shoes.
Cons in my opinion: the toe box is small comparing to adidas and asics from my experienced, i have to up half the size in triumph 21 to get my pink toe not squeezed by the shoes (i think saucony shoes in general had smaller toe box compare to NB, Adidas, and Asics). and for traveling, it is not comfortable if we stand-up for more than 30 minutes, i think it is caused by 10 mm heel drop, for walking it is very comfortable.
greet from Indonesia.
Solid content! Are you going to review the ride 17 now that it has pwrn+?
Maybe
Big fan of the T20. They can truly do it all. (I even PR’d a half marathon in them.) Recently tried the NB 1080 and it’s just not the same. Feels too mushy and sluggish imo.
Good morning!
Yo
It is unfortunate that Roca eyeglasses doesn't make optical frames in the UK 🙁☹️😣😞

Would you say the upper on the RFG is less breathable than the normal 21 due to the material difference or you didn’t think so?
Here in Canada, This shoe is 240 CAD instead of 210 CAD for the regular version for some reason, very weird, especially for a shoe that is really nothing special and is already expensive for a daily trainer in the regular version.
Hey Ko! Good vid! What were your thoughts on comparing with the Gel Nimbus 26 as opposed to the Novablast 4 and its Eco+ foam and $140 price point?
FF Blast Eco + in novablast vs nimbus, even assuming chemically identical foam formulations, is a different experience.
Novablast 4 is springy and fun in a different way than Nimbus and Triumph RFG
I didn’t realize that. Thanks. Interesting how the Novablast is $20 less than the Nimbus.
I have two pairs of T20s and I love it, this midsole PR+eco is more softer and bouncy compared to normal T20s?
No
love your videos - watch every single one. I would love a 'kofuzi' premier league table of trainers that stays up to date of recommended shoes for each type of run! daily trainer, easy runs, long runs, tempo, half marathon, marathon etc! I respect your reviews that a simple up to date list would be appreciated! thank you!
I do it once a year at the end of the year. I'm not interested in doing it more often than that
I think people can already figure out what are my favorites anyway
@@kofuzi thats true... ok thank you for replying anyway!

Hey guys, how did you dry your shoes after running in the rain?
I air dry mine, not near an air vent. The heat from the vent (or dryer) could cause the glue used in the shoe to weaken and prematurely fail.
@@mattbeier thanks! I did blow my shoe with hairdryer and 2 days later the upper seperated from midsole
Air dry. If it’s really soaking wet then remove the insoles (if they’re not glued down)
What does it mean corn base?
Analogous to how corn can be used to make ethanol, which in turn is used as a substitute for the petrochemical product that we can use in cars, they are using corn as a substitute for the petrochemicals that would otherwise be used to make the midsole foam
Is the fit similar to the 21s?
yes
@@kofuzi thank you
What is your overall favorite Saucony shoe??
Endorphin Elite
Sheesh 😊 waiting for your review on Nike downshifter 13 and revolution 7
if you can find 5 video reviews of either of those shoes in the entirety of UA-cam, I'd be surprised.
Yo, what’s going on!!!
Yo Luis!
Just feels like too much shoe for longer runs.. i use it more as a lifestyle shoe now.
Glad you found a use for it
Hope they don't then turn green spaces turned into corn fields. That wouldn't be "eco"
If ethanol production doesn’t concern you in that regard, Saucony pwwrrun bio+ isn’t something you’d have to worry about
I think this is best as a lifestyle shoe since the RFG gives you the virtue signaling high ground.
I guess, if virtue signaling is important to you
You just uploaded nb elite 4 review and now the saucony... Just dont have the time to run the miles you say imo, unless you wear one shoe on top of the other😂. I may be wrong tho
I think you haven’t understood how shoe review works. He doesn’t run on the shoe only between the videos he post. He has the Triumph RFG for a long time now but just reached 100 miles recently and he did this video. Same for the NB Elite, he has it for quite some time… To simplify, he buys or receive a bunch of shoes, rotate them and do their 100 miles review videos when they reach that mileage whenever it is and independantly one to the other.
@@Dias4815162342 i dont really mind how he rotates... If he uploads 2 100 mile videos per week... Maths dont work
I ran 3100 miles last year. And every single run I do is listed on Strava. Link in description
