Run, don't walk, to buy the Asics Gel Nimbus 25! They are the most insanely comfortable shoe. The most comfortable shoe I have ever worn, by miles. Incredible shoe. You will NOT be disappointed.
Tried the Nimbus and really wanted to like them, but they were just too cramped in the toe box for me. Big toe was squeezed from the get go. The Triumph works beautifully.
I have both and I fully agree with the assessments here. They are both very good but the Nimbus 25 is more for just easy/slow/long while the Triumph 21 is noticeably lighter, just as comfortable for me in the upper and midsole, and is more versatile as it's better at picking up the pace. I'd say the Triumph 21's outsole is better as well. The Triumph 21 is just a very solid all-round running shoe and seems to feel and ride better with more miles. When I put on the Triumph 21, I'll let how I feel dictate my run - it could be easy and then go significantly faster if I feel like it. It could be short or long. When I put on the Nimbus 25, I've made up my mind before I even step out the door: it's going to be an easy and slow run and nothing else.
@@georgepierre3594 I've moved on from both shoes as I run 70~80 miles per week, but I remember the Triumph's outsole was more durable and grippy than on the Gel-Nimbus.
I generally agree with your assessment. I bought the Triumph 20 for my son and it's a very nice shoe. I went with the Nimbus for myself because of the wide, stable base, which helps me as I'm getting tired. It's not a fast shoe by any means but I feel like I can pick up the pace a little if I get up on my toes. I'm past the point in my life where I really care what my times are though. I don't love the outsole. It's not very grippy on wet pavement but the AHAR is usually quite durable. I am still thinking about adding the Puma Magnify 2 though, as it is very Triumph-like but, apparently, more stable neutral with a fantastic outsole.
Awesome detailed review 👊 I’ve ran in both and prefer the N25. The midsole cushioning is unmatched. I felt that the 10mm drop on the Tr21 is made for heel strikers as seen here 10:40
I notice there was a lot of noise about how expensive the Gel-Nimbus 25 was but no one has complained about the Triumph 21 which is only five quid cheaper! I find the Gel Nimbus too heavy to run in but it makes a brilliant walking shoe, especially recovering after a long or hard run! My money would go on (and was spent on) the On Running Cloud Surfer 7 which is lovely to run in and you can pick the pace up plus it's another comfy shoe to walk in so covers both bases (and, at £150, it's cheaper than both!)
I have triumph 16 2 pair .in use still with 8 others for last 4 years . Bought it for rs 3200 in India . Have also used new balance Nike Asics .but still Saucony are best yet
Having both shoes I'd say I much prefer the nimbus. It's more squishy, also more support and better upper in my view. Triumph to my feet is slightly denser and takes more to break in if that's ever a thing to you. But I felt mine took at least 2 runninng sessions to feel less dense and feel more plush. But I've since transitioned from max cushioned shoes. If you're looking at saucony offerings for everyday shoe, maybe just get a speed 3 and forget everything else except race day shoes.
I am 96kg and need some comfort but also want to pick up pace. Tried many shoes, Brooks Glycerin was a desaster, after a few runs the whole comfort was gone, not good for pace at all. By chance I found the ASICS Glideride3 and they are providing all that I want, comfort plus pace option. Looking for a similar shoe as alternative and it seems the Triumph 21 should get a chance. Thanks for the review.
I am really stuck at the minute. The 21 sounds like the perfect shoe for me. As I am going for a 4 hr marathon. But I love the thought of the endorphin pro 3 for it as well. I have the novablast 3 and speed 3 at the moment.
Go for triumph (and the 20 at that for the discount), at roughly 4 hrs you won’t be breaking land speed records and you’ll have another great all around shoe that fits a niche neither of the other two do.
@@grantmckay7014 after about 15 to 20km they blow my feet out. I used the speed 3's for a half marathon and could barely walk by the end. And took a week to recover.
I have a relatively heavy body weight at 78kg, having both the Triumph 20 and the Novablast 3 TR in my rotation. Hands down the Triumph 20 is the overall better shoe for me and it's not even close. The foam in the Triumph is so much more bouncy and reactive, I am able to cruise for hours without feeling fatigue. Whereas in the NB3 I can only do very easy efforts i.e. zone2 and below, and only for no longer than 5km. The foam I feel is much softer in the NB3 at first, but sadly just completely collapses after a few km with almost no energy return. Given that the Nimbus 25 is also using almost the same foam setup, it's just not surprising that it looses out. The FF Blast+ foam I feel is just not engineered at least for heavier runners.
78kg is not heavyweight, unless your 5 ft tall LOL. Agree on the T20, great versatile shoe, hated the novablast 3 but really like the nimbus 25 but the nimbus 25 is not as versatile as the T20 for sure but it does not go flat after a few km of your run...
@@karlbratby4349 I am 178cm so 5 ft 10. A bit overweight for my height but picking up running has already helped me reduce from 90kg xD. I will probaby still give the next generation Nimbus a try since I quite enjoyed the overall fit and finish of my Asics shoes.
@@nerdhoy yes Nimbus 25 are well worth a try, just for those easy days, they defo feel less speedy but you just get settled in an easy pace and they are great.
Just ask yourself this, do your runs vary in speed/effort considerably? Or do you tend to stick to a fairly set pace and effort? If you’re not incorporating variably into your runs then a shoe with more versatility is perhaps unnecessary. If you are incorporating variability then you’ve got your answer.
I find the 20 perfectly comfortable and surprisingly breathable for a max cushion shoe! It's also a little lighter than the 21. I think the only major difference for some runners is that you may get a slightly better lockdown in the 21. The 20 has that gilly strap roughly in the middle of the laces, which took a little getting used to, but I do think it minimizes any possible lace pressure. The 21 has that strap as well, but it's a little smaller and closer to the top of the tongue. I'd personally recommend the 20 on discount.
Picked up the Nimbus 25 as they are offered in wide in the UK which I need. Strange from Saucony that they offer a wide version of the Triumph 21 in other markets such as the US but not here.
Good choice, I reckon... Just had my first run in the Triumph 20s, having got them for £80, and having run 370 miles in the Glycerin 20s. Both are outstanding shoes; felt very fresh at the end of the run in the Triumphs!
Right now I'm in love with my Glycerin 20s and I'm torn between getting another pair or trying something new. Those asics and clifton 9s look pretty nice... 😍
I got the Asics Gel-Nimbus 25 among a few other cushioning to high cushioning shoes, and besides the fact that the Asics model is probably the most comfortable shoes ever made, it is not a versatile running shoes . The Nimbus 25 is far from being my heaviest shoes, but it is the one thst I run the slowest . It is very hard to pick up the pace in such extremely soft cushioning shoes that make 99% of the competition of high cushioning shoes look like quite a bit more nimble and versatile.
@io-rj6sk when I bought my Gel-Nimbus 25 did not have the size 8.5 US for me to test. So I bought my pair in size 9 US and it is perfect in length but a bit too wide so the lockdown is not perfect. Plus,I'm not that heavy to compress the foam when just walking ....not extremely comfy for walking in uneven terrain but for running my weight can compression the foam enough and it becomes not just super comfortable for long runs but more stable as well. I recommend you try to get your Gel-Nimbus 25 as snug as you can support at the sides since with age the foam and upper can let you overpronate a bit when the materials gets older. It is the most comfortable shoes I ever worn , especially at the forefoot area. But I did not try the NB More that has a bunch foam below the forefoot and I have other high stack shoes like the Mizuno Wave Sky 7 and the React X Infinity RN 4 ( this one is closer feeling to the Nimbus but with its foam and a better rocker in the forefoot and a bit more stable too for me) .
