Do the declutter before you buy any organization containers . Sometimes you have extra kitchen containers that will work well in another area . You can use cheap or free containers to see if the organization system is going to work then upgrade to nicer containers later on.
Declutter first! Then organize what remains. If something comes into the house, something needs to leave. This has helped me more than anything...and I'm a quilter with a stash😂😂😂 Buy new shoes..donate a pair. Something comes in, something goes out. Doesn't have to be the same thing, but something has to go. Organizing before decluttering just hides the real problem.
When buying velvet coated hangers be cautious of dollar tree ones. I had black ones, and I hang numerous tops to dry on hangers instead of the dryer. The dye on the cheaper hangers can rub off on your wet or damp clothes. Buy the better quality.
When I was young I automatically bought new containers/baskets if I thought I needed them. Nowadays I repurpose old containers/baskets or decorate an Amazon box w/contact paper.
Hey Girl , thanks for that ten dollar budget. I started with $20. Went to $10. Today I put back like 4 items and I was blessed to spent $7.00. Did not miss the other items. You’re right 😮 don’t be bullied.
I actually use those little lucite bins for jewelry, they work great and stack nicely in shallow drawers. I find 3 packs of the smaller ones all the time at HomeGoods, Marshall's and TJMaxx,
I've rescued several things from my neighbors usually the night before trash pickup. When I lived in Northwest Montana everyone took everything to the dump. As an unwritten rule, you would dump trash in the dumpster and stuff that could be reused by someone was left to the side. I got a full set of nice China, a beautiful king size Christmas quilt and other great stuff during the 5 years I lived there. Sadly some of the dumps were encouraging people to stop this practice around the time I left in 2011.
There's an old adage, "Buy cheap, buy twice" and there's a lot of truth to it. At The Container Store, while prices are higher, quality is, too. I bought 12 of those plastic drawers you showed in the video in 2005 and have used them continuously since then. After almost 20 years, they have survived several moves and not only still look great with no chips, warping or splits, but are as functional today as when I first purchased them. I think that level of quality speaks for itself and I've certainly gotten my money's worth - and counting! 😊
The 3 mirrors painted above laundry area... I did same thing but red, lime green and blue in kitchen where I have 4 mixed chairs painted samish for a mexican themed room!!
Think of all the money wasted to purchase all those clothes, shoes etc.. I too look back at what I purchased in the previous years and am so mad at myself. Try not to purchase anything unless emergency within a year and see what does get used up.
I'm happy now that I have a lot less shoes & clothes. I know I can mix and match the clothes and shoes I've kept. Keeping things ORGANIZED means for me to keep it SIMPLE. 😊🎉
If you are like me, I have lots of clothes mainly because while I may buy something that fits, I didn’t clear out the clothes that I didn’t wear because they weren’t comfortable, or whatever. Same with shoes - it hurt to get rid of a pair of shoes even when I refused to wear them. I am getting better but there is still plenty of room to improve
I needed bedside organization. I found a oblong rectangle basket & a tissue holder cube that fit in it perfectly. The cube divides it into thirds. Glasses, pen & pencil, note tablet & light switch in front. A sturdy clear plastic sheet over the tissues to hold Clock on top of tissues. The rear has emergency flashlight & misc. items. The nightstand is less than half covered! All from 2 items I found for $4. total...
I think it's funny and cute. Definitely not a problem!😊 I'm obsessed with cardboard boxes. I hoard them! I just can't let them go! It's a problem because I find myself having to reorganize to make more room for more boxes that I may need to organize things later! My husband thinks I'm insane!😂❤
I know your feelings about your laundry room! My laundry area is in my master bathroom. I'd love to work on it! The one shelf over my washer and dryer is high, which needs to be bc my washing machine is a top loader. I keep giving up, especially after chasing the dust on that shelf from the dryer! I don't have a walk-in closet, lol! I only have a small laundry closet with a water heater, washer, dryer, and an ugly shelf! I took off the ugly, heavy doors bc of water damage from hot showers, and now I'm stuck with looking at this laundry room! TFHelping!❤
I recently bought those hangers and I love them! I changed out all of our clothes except my husband’s work clothes which tend to be heavier. I haven’t done the kids’ yet but plan on it.
You can do it. Get some organizing magazines , they can give you ideas about how to organize your stuff. Or if you have the money you can hire a professional organizer to come & help you. Don't give up!@shannonskiptomylife
Yeah, I was looking forward to seeing what you did for $10., thinking you meant total. Sounded too good to be true and it was! Misleading titles just lost you my subscription.
If you think that's a lot CharleneEvenson you'd really be appalled by my closets and dressers full of course. Don't even get me started on my shoe collection.

Great tip!
@@beckyshell4649 and in my experience, mine and others, organizing isn't the issue, having too much stuff is the real problem.
Exactly what I do. I test run a new system before spending a dime. Often, that "temporary solution" gets a promotion to "forever solution."
Declutter first! Then organize what remains.

I bought the hangers and love them
Sam’s Club has the velvet hangers 50 for $9.98
Oh- so you meant $10 for EACH organization purchase!
I like your method of going to the store with a budget plan. It keeps us focused on what we need. 😊
It’s taken time but I’m getting better!
I have sun glasses over my glasses too!
I put my sunglasses over my prescription glasses as well!😂
Thanks for the ideas. I’m glad I’m not the only one that wears sunglasses over their glasses.
Terri funny, right?
My hubby laughs at me when I do this. I don't care. Lol
Google "fitovers". They are made to be worn with your glasses.
I wish you lived close! Your ideas are fantastic, thank you for making content that is usable by most!
Wow, thank you!

I put stuff out for free all the time when I no longer need it. Saves me having to take it to the dump.

Wow!
I have colored plastic hangers. I put red shirt on red hanger blue on blue hanger. You get the idea. It's a personal problem I have.😂😅
Ginny if it works for you! Thanks for watching.
I used to do the same thing! My ex thought I was weird
That's funny. I thought I was the only one who does this.

Tracey I know it will look fantastic!!
Could you use curtains to replace doors?
@@rhondatallent2396 I thought of that idea, Rhonda! Now that you've mentioned it, I will try that this weekend! I appreciate you!😍
@@shannonskiptomylife Thank you, Shannon!
Love the spiritual dimension added to the organizing advice.
Terri thank you!
Thanks, Shannon!
Ginger you are welcome!

Rita it makes such a big difference! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for sharing
My pleasure
I bought them hangers from walmarts earlier this year.
I love the Container store, but, as you said, they're generally too expensive. 😬
Myrna hope I showed some affordable gems!
Shannon I like that pink tower storage did yo make that it looks like a bowl from d.tree.
Ruth yes! 3 DT bowls and 2 champagne flutes.
I was go ping to ask about that!
Awesome idea ❤️😀
Hi, thank you
Welcome!
You can get 50 velvet hangers at Sam's for 14.99 also.
Good tip!
You are adorable! Really loving your videos!
Erin thanks so much!
Sometimes you can't declutter till you know what you have. So i get it. Both have applications.
We do not have those type of high-end thrift stores.
wait you already started wrong... you need to declutter not purchase different hangers. that saves you 10 bucks!
Bella is inspecting lol
Always!!
Broken so many felt hangers. 😪

I believe in you. Take one small step and ask for help.

❤😊
Don’t have that size closet. 🤣🤣🤣
😊👍👋
That's a $30 budget
REPEAT
Where should I shop next, Jane?
Yeah, I was looking forward to seeing what you did for $10., thinking you meant total. Sounded too good to be true and it was! Misleading titles just lost you my subscription.
Thanks for voicing your opinion.
That is a ridiculous amount of clothes.
I don’t believe in judging my friends for the way they choose to spend their money. I would appreciate it if you don’t either.
Yes, a lot of clothes. I had even more! I’ve been declutterring for years! Today, I filled up three more bags! Some of us need help!!!
