GW2 - Sunqua Peak CM Guide & Walkthrough - Healbrand PoV w/ Live Commentary

- Sunqua Peak is the latest addition to Fractals of the Mists! Sunqua Peak CM has brought a ton of different challenges to the table, and Ai has really shaken up the meta for fotm in Guild Wars 2, allowing for a strong condi DPS comp to tackle this brand new, raid-like encounter in for GW2 Fractals.
In this attempt, we ran with a Healbrand (played by myself), Alacrigade, as well as 2x Condibrand and a Condi Mirage.

I personally like to play mantra that gives you regeneration here. There is so much movement around at this boss, that people WILL end up missing lot of your heals. Incorporating regeneration into your boons will ensure that everyone has passive healing ticks even when they are away from you. That mantra also clears condition, which can be helpful at second stage of the fight.
Ethuil UI yeah that’s a really good consideration, it’s definitely be useful here, especially when they make it so Sunqua Peak can be on the normal daily rotation of instabs, afflicted could be tough here with the 2nd phase

Rheyo you should use Sanctuary (it is 750 cc bar dmg) for cc instand of hammer of wisdom (only 200cc bar)
How does the CD line up with break phases? The 60 sec cooldown is the only thing that's been taking me off from using it for CC. That and Hammer is also another blast finisher which is nice for upkeeping might.
@@Rheyo you can cc each second cc bar with it.
Still only did the one kill on release day. Fun enough but man do they punish power dps hard in that fight and that's my only geared setup so far, and necro no less. Made me feel like I have to gear something else up before I bother doing CMs now, specially being stuck with what I find in LFG.

What do you think if we replace axe with mace? Is it good for all CM fractal?
I actually use mace instead of axe in this fractal most of the time and most others as well. Mace has strong heals and carry potential. If you don’t need all the heals though, the axe is better due to its CC and fury uptime
can you tell me what the mirage bought to this fight? his build, weapons, rotation, how he top the dmg meter and does +damage infusion matter?
He is probably using the snow crows build
Personally i prefer mace here, since everyone should be condi the 100% fury isnt really needed and the cc from axe isnt worth it imo
I've been using mace every run actually, I can't remember why I used axe here exactly, I think it was just habit because I use axe for nearly all other situations. Mace is definitely a superior option in this fight imo

Would you take the hammers/bane signet or go with sanctuary for better cc? Also quickness? Better to replace the tele with the quickness mantra, or even use FMW?
In this video I was using Mantra of Solace(heal skill, quickness/aegis, and fury uptime due to traits), Mantra of Potence (quickness and might), Merciful Intervention (fury uptime due to traits, strong group heal, teleport, and strong AOE res potential), Hammer of Wisdom (great CC, and blast finisher for extra might), and Mantra of Liberation (stability/stunbreak)
The build I'm running uses the Valor Traitline, which I use Monk's Focus, and that allows for Fury uptime through meditations while giving them 20% reduced CD. FMW solely gives quickness/fury. Quickness uptime isn't an issue when using Mantra of Potence / Solace to proc quickness, and Fury uptime is covered by Axe 2, and also your meditations. At this point, FMW becomes redundant and I find it more useful to bring Mantra of Liberation for the Fears during Phase 2, as well as for a safety net incase anyone gets CC'd when Ai is changing from mid to the side and vis versa.
Sanctuary is a great CC, it's just an insanely long CD. I prefer hammers since it's 2 charges with a 25s Count recharge, with 8(?) second CD between uses, and it's also a blast finisher, which helps with might uptime.

after 10 cm clears,im still a little confused by whole meteor phase,they are random and if you have low mobility class,theres very little what you can do to get behind safe rock. Moving to middle can help,but if you had meteor on you and had to go edge,than you are basicly fcked. very poor mechanic.This CM second phase is just milion flashlights spam and extremly cluttered to see important things. cm is quite ez tho,they just need to reduce visuals noise...,but that issue plaguing whole game.
btw,you can just GG after first boss dies and you gona skip whole cutscene.

@@osureplay2799 as you can see in this vid,they were all in middle and last one had extra 1 sec before explosion in both cases. even hfb used BLINK to his friend. its poorly balanced (as CC bar) and you are forced to take some movement skill to counter it.
@@critical-thinker666 His friend was just slow. The blink was irrelevant. So long as you're at the middle by the boss when the charged attack starts charging up you'll have more than enough time to get behind the right rock even without Swiftness and no mobility.
@@Brotection_ that blink literaly saved his life :D.dunno this meteor phase seems to be quite show-stopper for many ppl.
@@critical-thinker666 Except it didn't. For the meteor phase I just have everyone stack on me and I blast stability, aegis, and cleanse. Then they do no damage and we just run right through them. If he was saved by that blink that would mean he's a bad healbrand, and he's very clearly not a bad healbrand, so therefore he wasn't saved by it; it was merely a convenience to do so.
Did you ever get into raids
I've done all raids, but it's just not a big game mode for me, mainly because of my in-game responsibilities taking precedence over getting into that content, and raid groups typically take longer to band together than a fractal group does so that's why i've always just defaulted to FotM.
what is stability here for?
Stability is useful for the Fears in the 2nd half of the encounter (Dark Phase) as they have a long duration stun. I also brought it for when she dashes between mid/outside due to knockback.
This is not ele friendly, is it?
I don’t play ele myself so I can’t speak from experience, but from what I’ve heard it’s pretty difficult. If you want a decent carry class then I think heal tempest can do well here. Anyone else with more experience though feel free to correct me if I’m wrong!

POV means Point of View, so in this video, you’re seeing the fight from the Healbrand Point of View (Me) and with commentary

Since her cc bar is really really big you must bring cc consumables in order to break it continuously during the fight. You can have a list of generally used cc consumables on the website Discretize
@@osureplay2799 i use them too.. but that is just bad breakbar balance. it's like gorseval (w1b2) breakbar, and that's 10man group encounter. the amount of cc you need to bring is toooo damn high! :D

It took me a few years myself to start understanding it, and I’m still learning things today. It’s a pretty complex system but it’s worth giving it time
Hes just dialed in to where he can elaborate on what hes doing and the mechs of the level. Give it all a try and someone will res you, also this is only one small part of GW2
