They were stress testing days prior and backstage with success. It developed micro cracks by the time it was brought on stage. The team also built the CT proto in 90 days, so it was a rush job.
Think the original test steel ball they used was huge like size of a tennis ball it probably weighed ~1.2kg. Since then they changed the type of glass as well - good to see the production version is able to take such a high impact without breaking.

I don't think it was a micro-crack from all the throw tests in 2019; both panels broke. I think instead the sledge hammer (which was the first hit) knocked the windows both down a few mm causing the top part of the window to not be seated properly which allowed the entire glass pane to fail. You could see in the vertical drop test them cranking down on the horizontal test glass to verify it was seated correctly before the ball drop.
No, what happened was they were hitting it with a sledge hammer both before the show and during the show…that weakened the braces for the window leading to it not being able to absorb the force as efficiently and cracking
